That's different though. They were not benefiting the team and were sold - the right choice considering he replaced Beckham with Ronaldo and United are 1st in the Prem without RVN.
Where as Ronaldo is Uniteds best player (in the top 2 anyway) this season.

no, no, a year or two earlier Fergie was making the same claims about them.

Ronaldo take a year off, he will be moved. That is what I meant.

ok.
Personally I think he'll leave United eventually, possibly when SAF retires and/if Queroz leaves.

Dream on girls.

And Jager, when was the last time Fergie reluctantly let a huge player go?

Becks and RvN were kicked out, Ronnie is Fergie's jewel, you can see the trust they have for each other by how Ronaldo has performed this season to repay Fergie. So just get off that high horse.

Agree with LAF, he will move on eventually. But not in the near future, he only turned 22 last week.

Ronaldo is latin, not comparable to the players you mentioned. His loyalties to the club are not as deep as RVN or Beckham.

Latin players are more temperamental. I'm in no way saying we will get this player, but never say never.

The "big" player we want does not play in England.

So what if hes latin, he has grown up under the hands of Ferguson, almost 5 years. And Queiroz is there who also has a strong relationship with Ronaldo, it would take a world record transfer fee for anybody to take him I reckon.

Man Utd will struggle to hold onto Ronaldo eventually, the lure of Spain and Italy will be too much for him.

Of course, but maybe you misread my post. I said in a few years.

Latin players eventually want to play in Latin countries.

Man U confident C Ronaldo will remain......

Quote:
United Confident Ronaldo Will Stay Manchester United's chief executive David Gill has helped dampen speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo's future by saying he is confident the Portuguese winger will sign a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2012.
United Confident Ronaldo Will Stay

Ronaldo, 22, is already under contract to United until 2010, and Gill says he is keen to extend his stay at the Premiership leaders.

"I think he came out and said discussions are ongoing so we're not going to put a timeline against them," Gill told BBC Radio Four.

"The player wants to say, we want him to stay and I'm sure we'll reach a satisfactory conclusion."

Ronaldo is persistently linked, at least in the media, with a move to either of Spain's big two - and the player himself has admitted that he would like to play in La Liga at some stage of his career.

However, Gill explained: "Every United fan can be reassured he won't be leaving this summer.

"It would be realistic to extend it by a further two years to 2012 - the same time that Wayne Rooney has signed for."

And in response to Sir Alex Ferguson's comment at the weekend that he would be happy to remain as United manager for another two years, Gill said: "We're doing extremely well this season.

"We've not discussed it but he has done fantastically well and we've put him on a rolling contract - something we want to continue as long as possible."

Well either way I can't see him staying with Man Utd forever, he'll move eventually.

He's 22 now....so if he signs until 2011 he will be around 26. Still in his prime. But a move now would be ideal. He's more then capable of earning a starting position at an y team in the world. Luckily, we will be able to see him for two games against Roma...maybe Roma could land him.... Hell should freeze over soon, no?

At one point earlier this season, I would have said that he would be gone for sure. The Management of Man U are now reporting on there web site that they are vary close to signing CR.

I'm sure he will sign a new contract, but in a few years I expect him to want to move on.

That is for sure. He wants to leave EPL as a success then he would want to go to Italy or Spain. I would much rather see him in Italy than Spain. I dont like how the Spanish treated Figo at the end of his tenure there.
