Great purchase.
He is a dominating force on the field.
He is actually the guy that forced the boot on my head in my avatar

Maicon is just superb, I hope he continues his development. Our fullbacks are the key to our success, with Zlatan in the middle, look out.

Maicons emergence has also revitalised JZ's career in the centre of midfield, he's done surprisingly well in that role.

Well JZ is certainly that, so I guess it's understandable that he's done so well.
Having Maicon at RB should extend his career by a year or two though.

This guy is going to better than Cafu. Not sure about J.Zanetti though.
For a big man, he is so skilled and has pace. I would go on to say that he has improved his game ten fold since coming to Italy.

Had a good game, but i still like zambrotta's workrate as a benchmark for fb's, at times in the valencia game, maicon left some space when he got caught out of position.
Although i think cordoba was the weaklink in that game, lb really isnt his position, y isnt grosso playing?

Grosso is not match fit? I don't expect much out of him until next season to be honest. He got injured, missed a lot of time, and now its hard to be worked back into the lineup.
As to why Maxwell didn't start the game in the CL, I have no idea???
Maicon has far more potential at this stage, but I agree with you conclusion.

He has tough competition in Cicinho and Marcelo for the NT. He can defend better than both, but going up, he is still a tad behind Cecinho. For Italy and world football, Maicon would be the better choice, but because of Brasil's philosohpy, he probably wont start as often as he should,

Consensus in Brazil is that Maicon will now inherit that position now. His time in Italy is not looked at as a detriment, but rather a strong positive.

I agree. Maicon is better defensively than Brasil's typical fullbacks. Hopefully they realize this. I think they will. Emerson is a good example. Not exactly a Brasilian type player, but the coach realized they need some defense in the mid.
I see the same situation with Maicon. With kaka, Ronaldhino, Robinho and the many other creative support, they dont need to sacrific defense anymore. It cost them this WC with Carlos.

In a way he's a different type of player to those two as he's more about power and strength than skill and elegance. Seriously though, once this guy gets going he just can't be stopped. He's built like a train.

Take a look at this compilation, I swear he could play up front if he wanted to:
