Quaresma To Inter By Friday
The deal to bring Ricardo Quaresma to Inter is on the verge of being struck according to ‘A Bola’. The midfielder could arrive in Milan by Friday according to reports.

The Nerazzurri are keen on the Portuguese star and Jose Mourinho is looking for a midfielder to bring into his squad of multi-talented players.

Chelsea’s Frank Lampard is the number one target but Quaresma may arrive before the Englishman according to the latest reports stemming from Portugal.

‘A Bola’ claims that Inter are close to reaching a deal for the Porto man and that he may sign for them as soon as Friday.

A cash plus player deal seems on the cards and the Italian club try to wrap up negotiations.

Mourinho is likely to play the Julio Cruz card in an attempt to convince the Dragoes to part-company with the much sought-after midfielder.

Meanwhile Inter’s Maniche is likely to head back to Atletico while Brazilian winger Cesar is talking with Sampdoria with a view to signing for the Genoese club after Massimo Moratti failed to offer him a new deal.

O Jogo reported today that Inter could include Julio Cruz in the deal.

He is the type of striker which we need, but he earns far too much and he is too old.

Inter released a bunch of players last week. I think this is going to be a cash deal, and you will use the funds as you see fit.

I can't see Cruz going, he is a favourite of the tifosi. No players will exchange I feel, other Riccardo.

No, no. Unlike the Lampard situation, Porto will sell him for the right price. This is posturing by both sides, with only Mancini signed, that doesn't complete our side.

Mancini on the left, is not enough.

Queresma or Lampard are needed, most definitely. I trust JM.

Inter just concluded the Mancini deal, now they can concentrate on Riccardo or Frank, just be patient.

At the end of the day Inter are going to spend big regardless, whether they get Quaresma and Lampard or not.

Mourinho won't start the season with the current group of players, he'd never allow it.

BUT....I've got a feeling you'll get both those players anyway. It's just gonna take a bit of time.

The side is still flawed in midfield I feel.

The reason things seem late is that Inter have just started the negotiations for Riccardo and Frank.

Frank Lampard doesn't want to play at Chelsea, and I don't think Chelsea will let him sit and rot. That makes no sense at all, considering they'll lose him for free.

Not too mention they got Deco, who were trying to get. So now the Chelsea midfield is crowded.

Riccardo is a different story entirely. Porto want to sell, and Inter want to buy.

The price has to be agreed upon, and I feel it will be. Regardless of all this non sense in the media about prices.

Sacchi blasts 'ordinary' Quaresma Tuesday 29 July, 2008

Veteran former Azzurri tactician Arrigo Sacchi has warned Inter not to make a move for Ricardo Quaresma.

Since a summer swoop for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard became impossible, the Italian champions have turned their attentions to Quaresma.

The Porto forward is reportedly close to completing a move to San Siro to work alongside compatriot Jose Mourinho.

“Quaresma is not a champion,” Sacchi said in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“When he has a good day he will cause problems for other players, but often he doesn’t make the difference.

“When he was young he seemed like a champion, but now he is an ordinary player.”

Sacchi concluded with criticism for Inter’s summer transfer policy in general.

“Inter’s transfers hardly seem to have generated enthusiasm,” he sniped.

“Amantino Mancini and Sulley Muntari don’t seem to excite people. The Nerazzurri are still favourites for the Scudetto but I don’t think they have improved on last season.”

Over the years, I would agree entirely, but in my opinion, this is the reason why Inter has success now, they fill holes, not whole sale changes.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter and Porto have finally reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Ricardo Quaresma to the Italian champions.
No speculation about the fee, it just says that Pele is on his way to Porto.

after watching our match yesterday, I don't think we need Pelé, at least I no longer want him, Fernando can do the job and Quaresma is too awesome to be let go. But oh well, I wish him the best of luck.

The Porto website announced late Sunday night that Ricardo Quaresma has been sold to Inter in a total £25m deal.

The official Porto website announced that Quaresma will move to Inter in exchange for £15m plus full ownership of Portuguese creative midfielder Pelè, who is worth £4.8m.


The transfer also includes bonus payments of a further £4.8m depending on how Quaresma performs in the coming campaign.


Adding all the figures up, Inter will effectively pay a total of almost £25m for the winger.


Quaresma is already on his way to Milan to undergo a medical and sign contracts ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday evening.


Only on Saturday evening President Massimo Moratti had told the media that his team “doesn’t need Quaresma” and talks had been abandoned.


Coach Jose Mourinho expressed his irritation and pointed out he had asked for the player the moment he arrived this summer.


It seems a crisis meeting on Sunday prompted the Nerazzurri to re-enter negotiations with Porto and later that night the deal was struck.
