You can't expect to get that much though.
If he wants to go then eventually you'll have to let him go to the highest bidder.

He has renewed with us until 2011 last week and is atm the highest paid player in Portugal.
Pinto da Costa knows how to do business, if he sold Pepe for 30m € and Anderson for 33m €, Quaresma will not go for less, that I can assure you of.

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."
Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

I'm not saying he won't go for that much I'm saying you shouldn't expect him to go for that much.
At the end of the day a lot of clubs will look at Quaresma as a luxury player and won't be willing to part with that amount of money for him.
We've already seen what happened with his last big move out of Portugal.
That being said, in my opinion he is one of the best players in the world.

Ah I see what you mean now. Well I do expect him to go for that much, based on how much we got in selling our players in the past. If Carvalho and Pepe are worth 30m, then Quaresma will surely be worth 40.
*highlighted part* Tbf he went to Barça to be coached by Rijkaard, which makes players worse than what they were in the beginning.
I don't think he would be considered as a luxury player, he can win matches on his own, like Inter has Ibra and Milan has Kaka, the team that gets Quaresma will sign a match winner.
He was man of the match for Portugal against Italy, pissed all over Ronaldo and has been consistently good for the last 2 seasons. His stats so far:
Ricardo Quaresma - 7 goals + 8 assists, from about 20 games

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that post.
Although I'm convinced certain coaches would see him as a luxury player (more so than Kaka and Zlatan anyway). Plus the fact that those players you mentioned went for that much money doesn't mean they were actually worth that much.
It all depends who wants him to be honest because I can't see Inter paying 40m Euros for him, even though he's exactly the kind of player they're lacking at the moment.

Hmm in part I agree with your last statement, they do need someone explosive as you labelled Quaresma on the 1st post of page 2, but the fact that he is only good on the wings (Inter dont do wing play through wingers) and doesnt track back much nor players in midfield, makes me believe he'd flop at Inter

Could you not see him playing well in the role Figo has often been given while at Inter?
ie. an AM behind the two strikers.

Honestly, I don't think.
He can't orchestrate like Figo, he is a players of moments, I mean, he has his moments of brilliance where he either scores a goal on his own by dribbling past the entire defense or sends in a brilliant cross for someone to finish off. With that being said, he isn't like Tiago, he doesn't disappear from the game, he is actually always very active and roams around much, though he can't really dictate the tempo or hold up the ball to wait for a team mate.
Also, his short passing isn't good enough to play behind the strikers and make assists. He relies on his pace and dribbling to get past opponents, but he needs space and he only has enough space on the wings, IMO he is one of those players that will under perform if you take him out of the wing (Jesualdo tried Quaresma at AM in a diamond against Chelsea and he was pretty much invisible).
He can learn however, he is still young and could be mastered by Figo to become an AM, but he would take way too much time to adapt, given that if Inter signs him for the amount Porto will ask, the fans and press will demand immediate "dividends"
Oh and another thing, if Mancini plans on playing him on the wings in a 4-4-2, then he also wouldn't be as efficient, he plays best in a 4-3-3, he makes the difference on the last third of the field, if you make him track back too much, he won't deliver for you.
That's just my personal thoughts though, I could be completely wrong and Quaresma could turn out class at AM, but tbh I find that unlikely to happen

I agree ^
Also, I think that he is simply a classic winger style. His passing is not good enought to play AM and I haven't seen enough intelligence from him to suggest that he could play there.
Perhaps he could play somewhere between a Winger and AM, in the SS role (Ronaldinho, Messi, Guily). By this he isn't quite behind the front two, but isn't hugging the touchline.

Inter will never pay that much for a player like him. I mean him no disrespect, but I don't think he is worth that much or worth changing styless for.
We don't play with wingers, we need an AM. Not a converted AM.
As for the price, Portugese teams have a habit of way overvaluing their players....way, way too much.
He is good, but not worth that much. I don't care who it is.
Inter is on a tight budget, and everybody is interchangeable.
The player I see coming over is Deco, as he truely makes sense. He can play AM or CM, and he is the right age where he will be really cheap.

Deco would fit your system better, definitely.
But you never know, changing to a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 might be worth it for a player like Quaresma.

If I had to choose between the two, I wold choose Quaresma hands down. Deco takes games off. Shows a couple of signs of brilliance and then disappears again. Frustrating. Quaresma can take over a game. Depends what kind of player you are looking for. If it is a player like another part then fine Deco will do, if you want a difference maker, Quaresma is the way to go. Even when you take the money into consideration.

That is way too much money. I understand how good he is, I just feel that price tag is way too much. I'm not sure he would fit Mancini's style.
Maybe its just me or if the Portugese don't realise how physical Luis Figo can be, even being a playmaking winger/AM...that says a lot about how Mancini thinks.
Don't you find it interesting how both Maniche and the young Pele play for us?
If you are all finesse, and have no "edge", chances are that Mancini won't like you, and you might not play well in Italy.
Its very obvious over the years, that Juve's success has been to having strong players at all positions, and Inter have adapted this approach. If you can't beat them, join them as they say.
Serie A is like this, it is not very kind to just finesse players. The only exception being Kaka, but he is on another planet.

Looks like he want Diarra next season too. I can read daily that Diarra and his agent links him to Milano next season. Also Juve is interested.

Diarra?
Doesn't surprise me.
I guess we'll be moving a few people out now.
