His buyout clause basically assures that he stays with Barca but even if he were available, would he go to inter? the spanish league is much more suited to his playing style. He's too soft for italy. I mean ronaldo and Van Basten were much tougher than he is and we all know what happened to them in italy dont we?

Buyout clauses can be negotiated with the sale of the player.
Physical "size" has very little to do with it. Look at Pippo.
It is more mental, and the guidance of the Argies on the club, I'm sure he could and can adapt to Italian football, actually I think he would excel to be honest.

Is there any point of actually talking about this ?
Anyways if i was rijkaard i would be keeping an eye on messi if he gets injured again next season than maybe he is injury prone and i would cash in. Though he is still young and building plus he gets kicked about nearly every game.

Barcelona winger Lionel Messi has denied that he will join Inter in the summer, although he is flattered by their interest.
The Blaugrana sensation has been named as one of the Nerazzurri’s summer transfer objectives, with reports claiming the Argentina international might consider a move to the San Siro.
“I know President Massimo Moratti adores me and for that reason I am pleased,” said Messi.
“However, I will not leave Barcelona. I am happy and want to stay for a long time. I won’t play in Italy, at least not at the moment,” added the 19-year-old.
“I have already said many times that I feel very wanted and loved here and I am thankful for all that the club has done for me,” continued the player.
Messi was referring to the fact that the Spanish giants paid the medical bills for the treatment of a growth hormone deficiency, which was diagnosed when Messi was just 11.
The winger was also questioned on his teammate Ronaldinho, who has been paired with a move to Milan over the past few months.
“I believe that Serie A is a very competitive League, very different from La Liga. However, the best thing for both of us is to remain here next year, in order to do some great things over the next few seasons.
“I can understand that Silvio Berlusconi is willing to invest heavily to bring Ronaldinho to Milan, we are speaking about the best player in the world.
“If someone had the money to spend, it is normal that they would want to spend it on such a great player,” concluded La Pulga.
The youngster started his career at Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina before moving to Barca when he was just 13-years-old.

He would cost a small fortune to get anyways. Maybe he will leave one day when he gets tired of playing at Barca. Then it's either a move to EPL or Serie A...hopefully SERIE A.

If he does move it'll be to Italy, I'm confident of that.

He'll be at Inter in due time. Every blue moon(hence the metaphor), we sign a phenom like this, and longing to be part of Italy and Serie A is just too strong. They all know this.
Messi will be no different. Give it three to four years.

Generally, Argentines are much better suited to Serie A than EPL. If he leaves Spain, I'm sure it will be for Italy.
And if he goes to Italy, it's hard to imagine he'd end up somewhere other than Inter, unless Inter somehow loses a drastic portion of their Argentine population by the time Messi leaves Spain.

Moratti: I dream of Messi Sunday 29 July, 2007
Massimo Moratti has assembled a star-studded Inter squad, but admits there’s one player he wants more than any other – Lionel Messi.
“The player I would like most in my side is Leo Messi,” the oil baron told Argentine newspaper ‘Ole’.
“For a long time I’ve had a weakness for him and he is the player I find most entertaining in all the world. However, according to what I hear, Barcelona will not sell him, so for me he remains a dream.”
The heir to Diego Armando Maradona’s last season was blighted by injury, but he is back in great shape and impressed during the recent Copa America.
Moratti had hoped that Barca would release the young talent after bringing in Thierry Henry, but they seem determined to field him along with Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho.
Messi would be at home at San Siro, where the team is already packed with Argentina internationals.
“Javier Zanetti is the perfect captain. Nicolas Andre Burdisso has the character of great defenders. Esteban Cambiasso is a player who can do anything.
“Hernan Crespo is an incredible hitman, Julio Cruz is always useful and Santiago Solari is a lovely person who is always decisive when he steps on the field.”
It seems the Inter patron’s love of Argentina and its football goes back many years to when his father Angelo Moratti was the President of this club.
“My first idol was Antonio Valentin Angelillo. He came to Italy in 1957, when I was 12 years old. My father also wanted to sign Omar Sivori, but he went to Juventus. I like Argentine players because they have technique, character and adapt quickly to the Italian lifestyle.”
The Nerazzurri have had rather less success with Coaches from Argentina, but the Calciopoli scandal has smoothed over even the most painful moments in their history.
“I have fond memories of Hector Cuper, even if he didn’t win anything,” continued Moratti.
“He let the 2002 Scudetto slip through his fingers, but looking back perhaps it wasn’t all his fault. This is why I am happy he was remembered during the celebrations for the 2007 title, as he was a moral victor.”
Inter lost the Scudetto on May 5, 2002 with a 4-2 defeat at Lazio, dropping from first to third in the final 90 minutes of the season, handing the trophy to Juventus.

If they can get Messi, and he becomes the great player that we know he can become, then his marketability will make up for the money we spend on him, but the real question is if Barca want to move him.
Having said this, maybe old Inter would pay a lot for a player, but not this one.
