Star Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is thriving with the Nerazzurri and says he has never been happier. “Every year I get better.”

The Swedish marksman has found the net nine times so far this term for the reigning champions and is becoming a talismanic figure.

“With every year and every championship I do better than the last,” Ibra beamed on Sky Sport Italia. “This has been the best year of my career.”

A major reason for Zlatan’s success has been his impressive partnerships with fellow strikers Julio Cruz and Hernan Crespo.

“This season I have played with Cruz a lot, whereas last campaign it was Crespo more,” he said.

“Crespo scored lots and now so is Cruz. This is my second year with them as teammates and the more time that passes, the better I get to know them on and off the pitch, the easier it gets.

“I get on so well with Cruz in life as well as football, but I also really like the other strikers.

“David Suazo was superb against PSV yesterday – he was the Man of the Match.

“He is growing and he just needs to learn our tactics and the way we play so that he can become one of our most important players,” he concluded.

We'll see, Ibra could be the player that finally leads us in the CL, not so much to victory, but establishes our presence there.

Zlatan is being compared to Marco Van Basten in the Italian media, and there are a lot of similarities in their play.

You can also see that Mancini and Inter tifosi and critics, don't think alike.

What do I mean? I believe Inter's lack of movement in the summer for a playmaker was money related, but also the fact that Mancini wants Zlatan to have as much as the ball as possilbe. The ball goes through him most of the time. Not unlike Diego in Napoli all those years ago......


But when you have a player like Zlatan, do you need a AM??? Yes and No...Zlatan is skilled enough to do everything.

You need a playmaker mate, Zlatan wil probably hit a bad patch as all players do/get injured and then you are fucked as he really is your only true source of creativety (Figo also when he's on song).

Remember Juve when we had Ale and Zidane creating for Inzaghi. I can imagine Inter trying something similar, although they'll never match the greatness of that combination though.

Don't take my words literally, of course we need one, hence the reason we got one yesterday, but our offense is really strange at times, comes from every where. We have a bunch of guys who are interchangable, or it seems that way.

Offense from the back, as in our fullbacks or from the midfield, Cucho and Figo or Stankovic, but I understand what your saying.

All I'm saying is that Ibra is the key guy now, he really runs things. If we had a choice, I'm sure they would love to have Kaka or Ronny or some elite player, but that is not in the cards. So we'll see what happens.

What Inter have that most can't compete with is ridiculously clinical strikers. Take a look at Milan they create lots of chances per game but miss alot of chances.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he wants to keep playing and winning with Inter until at least 2012, “to prove we’re the best in the world.”

The Nerazzurri are already crowned winter champions with a seven-point lead over second-placed Roma and swept through to the knockout round of the Champions League.

“The second half of the season is the most important, as that is when everything is decided, including Europe,” he told the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport.’

“At a certain stage tiredness could also set in, but thankfully there are many of us and everyone is talented, so whoever plays ensures the work will be done.”

Ibrahimovic has been a shining light for Inter this season, but he is certainly not resting on his laurels.

“I don’t listen to compliments too much, as you cannot be happy with just one season of victory. If I win this title as well then personally it’ll be my fourth out of four attempts in Italy, five in as many seasons if we count my last year at Ajax,” said the former Juventus striker, whose two Bianconeri trophies were revoked in the Calciopoli scandal.

“This is how I like it, to win consistently and a club like Inter can prove they are among the best in the world. This is our plan, to win for many years to come.

“I am happy here and want to remain for a long time. Let’s just say until 2012.”

However, Ibra admits there is one match this season he would like to replay – the 1-1 draw with his old Juventus teammates.

“I am irritated at not winning that game, as we did more than them and could have done it. In any case, my compliments to Juve, as they are playing without the pressure on us, Roma and Milan. The results are clear.”

Ibra's secret injury fears Tuesday 26 February, 2008

Inter’s star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sensationally revealed that he has been battling with a very serious knee injury.

The Swedish hitman will miss tomorrow’s Scudetto showdown with Roma, but now there are fears that his involvement in a crucial period of the season could be limited.

Rather than a minor knee complaint, it seems that Zlatan has been playing with damage to the same tendon that Ronaldo severed.

“I have a hole in my tendon,” the former Ajax man explained. “It has been hurting for a long time and I don’t know when it will heal.

“I didn’t want to say anything because I have just been thinking about winning with this team, but now I realise that I am taking a big risk and so I am resting.”

The prolific former Juventus marksman concluded by denying that he had a spat with Marco Materazzi after the Beneamata’s defeat at Liverpool.

“I didn’t have it in for Materazzi at Anfield,” he claimed. “I didn’t see the fouls. Marco told me that they weren’t bookings and I believe him – it was the referee’s fault. In any case, we can overturn the deficit.”
