I doubt he will be back for Coppa Italia...i wonder how hard Inter will fight for the C.I? The past two seasons, Inter didn't win the Scudetto(or didn't know they won yet) but this season i think Roma may want it more...but who knows...Inter may end up destroying us again.

Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s season has ended prematurely after undergoing surgery to solve a persistent groin problem.

The Nerazzurro, who has scored 15 Serie A goals this season, confirmed on Tuesday that he was forced to stop because of the pain, but was confident that he might return for the Coppa Italia Final second leg.

The 25-year-old Ibrahimovic is currently in Amsterdam, where the surgery was successfully completed on Friday morning.

The Swede was operated on by the same surgeon who solved a similar problem in his right leg in 2004, before the player’s transfer from Ajax to Juventus.

The latest reports suggest that he will be sidelined for at least three to four weeks and will therefore miss the rest of the Serie A season.

Sweden Coach Lars Lagerback remains hopeful that Ibra will recover in time for the Euro 2008 Group F qualifying ties against Denmark in Copenhagen on June 2 and at home against Iceland four days later side.

Ibra set for contract extension Sunday 29 July, 2007

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be offered a new contract until 2012, but Inter are hoping to avoid a wage increase.

The Swede proved to be a fantastic signing when he was snapped up following the Calciopoli scandal and Juventus’ consequent demotion to Serie B.

He scored 15 goals in 27 games and proved a pivotal figure in the record-breaking Scudetto triumph.

“We could soon extend Ibrahimovic’s contract by another two years, hopefully with the same financial package of the current deal,” revealed technical director Marco Branca to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport.’

It remains to be seen whether Ibrahimovic will accept such terms after his excellent opening season in an Inter jersey.

The 25-year-old former Ajax man came to Serie A in 2004-05 for Fabio Capello and immediately scored 16 goals in 35 appearances.

Meanwhile, Branca also gave some more background to the Cristian Chivu saga and how the deal with Roma was finally resolved.

“Just as with David Suazo, it was Massimo Moratti who sealed it. Both times he managed to sort it out and get a discount into the bargain. It really was a great deal.”

Zlatan declares Inter love Wednesday 22 August, 2007

Inter’s striking star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stressed his dedication to the Nerazzurri cause as he prepares for Sweden’s friendly with the USA.

Despite Ibra’s dream first season at the San Siro that saw him hit 15 goals and clinch the Scudetto, the towering marksman is often said to be unsettled in Milan.

The ex-Ajax hitman spoke to the Press at Gothenburg Airport after his mammoth journey from Turin and reassured the Beneamata that he is 100 per cent commited to the cause.

“I don’t care about any other sides, I’m only thinking about Inter,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I’m happy here and so is my family, leaving couldn’t be a good solution.”

Zlatan was also happy to comment on the champions’ disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Roma in the Super Cup.

“We haven’t played together enough. The other day we just weren’t quite there, but we are on our way slowly but surely,” he explained.

“My preparations are the same as usual, but I have been suffering with a groin problem and have had to take baby steps this summer.

"Everything seems fine now and I’m stronger than before.”

It is quite rare for Ibra to be on the pitch for 90 minutes without creating at least one "how the hell did he do that" moment that brings spontaneous gasps of admiration from the crowd.

It is, however, equally rare for 90 minutes to go by without at least one "why the hell did he try that?" moment that brings spontaneous sputterings of frustration from the same people.

The footballer as rock star image is an apt for Ibra because everything I have seen indicates that Ibra sees football more as a mode of personal expression than as a contest or means to an end. I'm sure he likes to win and enjoys the titles he has amassed already, but I am equally sure that he gets a bigger charge out of making the crowd go "oooh" and defenders wonder exactly what just happened.

He's the perfect footballer for the X Games generation.

One thing he isn't though, is a target man, finishing is not his strong point. His great goals are nearly all instinctive moments of brilliance, many of them (like the Italy goal or the volley against Torino) having their origins in his rather incredible combination of flexibility, power, and control. For any team to take full advantage of his talents, he needs a partner who can anticipate his ability to create chances from virtually nowhere, and put them away. Inter still haven't found the perfect partner for him, and his tendancy to sulk when a particularly peerless pearl is wasted makes that more of a problem than it should be.

I fully agree, though his career has been reborn, and I hate to say it, a club like Inter is perfect for him. I think he can still mature though, and become a better footballer for it.

Kaka is favourite to win the Ballon d’Or, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is lining up a world record contract that would dwarf the Brazilian’s forthcoming deal.

Kaka is expected to receive the European Player of the Year award on December 2 and to celebrate with a contract renewal worth around £6.5m per year until 2012.

The Selecao star is currently top of Serie A’s wage table with £4m, while Ibra trails in fourth at around £3.3m.

However, it seems that Zlatan is set to go one better and become the most highly paid player in history with an £8m agreement – over double his current salary.

It is believed that the shadow of Real Madrid has shocked the Nerazzurri into action, but the Swede’s agent Mino Raiola is keeping tight-lipped.

“Relations with Inter are excellent, but we aren’t ready to sign a new contract,” he insisted.

The Kaka-Ibrahimovic rivalry continues to intensify with Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani responding to Inter chief Massimo Moratti’s claim that Ibra is more deserving of the Ballon d’Or than Kaka.

“In 2007, Kaka was overwhelmingly superior to Ibrahimovic,” Galliani roared. “I just hope that in December, Kaka ends up with the Ballon d’Or and the Club World Cup.”
