CL:Inter vs Porto

I'm not really sure why Interati would be looking forward to this game. Yet again, this will be played behind closed doors. Porto beat us in Portugal, but Inter will be looking for the win here, as a win would almost gaurantee advancement to the next round I suppose.

The question really, will be ready from an emotional point of view, after two trying weeks?

the reason you should be looking forward to it is because your club is lucky to be playing european competition this year.

Adriano to answer his critics and do some damage. Let's make this a good week for Serie A in Europe, eh?

I figured he would get called up, so he'll be in the lineup? One can hope.

I think C.Zanetti will play for some reason, Mancini will want to win this game, as to force the issue, and capture a qaulifying spot in the next round.

I feel we will dominate this game from the start, and put tremendous pressure on Porto. We haven't won in a week or more, and that IS not good for morale.

Veron will start and play, as his suspension doesn't apply here.

Mancio calls for focus Monday 31 October, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roberto Mancini has told his Inter squad that they must be fully focused on the job at hand if they are to beat Porto tomorrow night.

The Nerazzurri were defeated in the Dragao Stadium a fortnight ago, but they remain in pole position to qualify from Group H.

With six points from their opening three matches currently putting them top of the table, another win would put one foot in the next stage.

“We must concentrate on Porto and try to beat them so we can progress without any problem,” Mancio told the club’s official website.

“We must be focused and try to win and play well. We have to play as a team because in certain moments in our last two matches we haven't. This mustn't happen. We must be very calm and play with clear heads.”

Adriano’s recent form has seen the big Brazilian come in for plenty of criticism and Mancini was quick to play down rumours of a rift between them.

“Do I find him difficult to manage? I'm sorry that he's not going through a good period, but I have a nice relationship with him and seeing that I was also a striker I can certainly give him some advice about what to do on the pitch,” he continued.

“But a lot depends on him and on what he wants to do. Sometimes you do little when you want to show a lot.

“He does one of the best jobs in the world, he's a good-looking boy, if he always trains hard he won't have any problems. Now he just needs to stay calm and train hard. It's not as if he's ill.”

The last word goes to Mancini’s opposite number Co Adriaanse. The Dutchman has endured a tough start to his Portuguese adventure, but he is clear of what needs to be done to defeat the Nerazzurri in an empty San Siro.

“We need to score goals and to be more effective,” he said. “They have a better squad than we do, with very experienced players and a very secure defence.”

Inter (probable): Cesar; Cordoba, Materazzi, Samuel, Favalli; Figo, Veron, Cambiasso, Solari; Adriano (Cruz), Recoba (Martins)

Its half time, and its another nightmare start for us, as Almieda I believe, nails a 50 year FK, very nice goal, but it comes with them doing absolutely nothing in this game. Now I can't say we've done much, but we've certainly have attacked more, and don't deserve to be down by one goal.

:wallbang:

Hoping we add more creativity in the second half. Wome is playing as a winger, and he has not finished well, as the whole team.

Adriano hesitated on one shot, which I didn't understand.

And in regards to playing in front of empty stadiums, its absolutely sh!t, not too harp on this again.

Well we're definitely not dominating. Half-time & Porto are 1 up. Great goal from Hugo Almeida. 30 yard fee-kick. But I can't believe the sh!t I'm seeing. No Capitano & we're not creating anything. Adriano looks out-of-sorts. Midfield is not getting anything up to the strikers. Wome is playing on the left of midfield & he is sucking big time. I can't understand what Mancini is thinking. aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf!

Well, its safe to assume that we'll see Recoba on the field, look for him to replace Wome. However as you can see, we lack DMS!!!

My only conclusion is that Wome was inserted to rest Cambiasso, and C.Zanetti is not ready to go.

Well, its safe to say, that Mancini made the right moves thus far....Sinsi is simply awesome, only if he was younger, and what can you say about Cruz...2-1 for us..10 minutes left

Inter were awful until the 75th minute, hanuma. They rely too much on the improvisation of Figo, when they should play quick one-touch football to accomodate their pacey, strong frontmen. One of which, played like horsesh!t tonight..
Jager, what the hell is wrong with him? Is he depressed? Does he have piles? He looks depressed and reluctant to play...maybe pastures new have him dreaming.
Cruz is a true professional, I'm glad you've basically booked your ticket to the next stages anyway. Congratulations.

Oh and Sinisa, yes - he's the best free-kick taker in the world today in terms of placement and accuracy, closely followed by Juninho Pernambucano.
