MD8:Udinese vs Inter
Any chance of Iaquinta being suspended right before our match??? I don't think so, our clout doesn't travel far....
This is an extremely tough week for week, the schedule makers have have given us a real bad schedule, with this game, and Roma to follow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Udinese and Inter have both had to work hard in recent weeks to answer their critics and whatever the result in this game, at least one of the teams will be dreading the Monday headlines. After being accused of inconsistency, the Nerazzurri tried to make sure they made the papers for all the right reasons this week with a 5-0 thrashing of Livorno.
But, as usual, they were outdone as many chose to ignore this in the light of Adriano’s absenteeism. The Brazilian failed to return to Milan in time for that win and received heavy criticism from both Coach Roberto Mancini and fellow player Juan Veron. However, a good win here should quash the rumours of an internal dispute and ensure a controversy free week for the San Siro outfit, especially now they are back in touch with the League leaders.
Udinese and Coach Serse Cosmi came in for some harsh criticism when it appeared the wheels had fallen of their campaign after barely crossing the starting line. Two wins and six goals in their last two matches suggests that all is well again, but unfortunately the many people that Cosmi has upset in the past with his fiery personality are still hovering ready to pounce.
Should Inter repeat their performance against Livorno it could be a rough week for the former Perugia tactician. Luckily for Cosmi, his side are still only one point away from the Champions League qualification places and that should keep the vultures at bay for the time being.
His job is not made any easier by the suspensions to the midfield duo of Jose Luis Vidigal and Christian Obodo, especially as the latter’s red card for hitting a medic with a thrown water bottle was so unnecessary. Inter still have both Javier Zanetti out as well as Dejan Stankovic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Udinese (probable): De Sanctis; Bertotto, Sensini, Felipe; D Zenoni, Pieri, Pinzi, Muntari, Mauri; Iaquinta, Di Michele
Inter (probable): Toldo; Cordoba, Materazzi, Samuel, Favalli; Figo, Cambiasso, Veron, Solari; Cruz, Adriano

Cesar
Cordoba Samuel Matrix Favalli
Figo Veron Cambiasso Solari/ZeMarie
Adriano Recoba
If we ever hope to accomplish anything week in and week out. Then C.Zanetti must find his way into the lineup. I get a lot of criticism from my view on this, but I will not back down. When we were rocking last year, it was because of him and Cambiasso playing together as a unit. We lose some firepower, but we become a much better team defensively.

...let me add, that the team above has more width, but Adriano is not finishing in some games, and in some games he's not getting the ball. "The perfect storm"

If the goal is too get Adriano into form, then simplicity is what is desired.
The backline is done, you will not see any changes, until IL Capitano comes back from injury. Then Cordoba moves over and Matrix becomes a cub.
The midfield is tricky. Veron and Cambiasso for sure. The injury of Stankovic has really fuked us up. So I think you will see what Mancini has been using since he feels the key for success for the club is aerial attack from the flanks, and it worked against Livorno.
Now, with the emphasis on the wings, it should open up middle.
Let me make this comment, before this game begins, a lose tomorrow WOULD not surprise me at all. Udinese is a good side, and they will be extremely motivated for this.
C.Zanetti should play, as I feel he could prove vital in shutting down Iaquinta...and of course the DAMN set pieces where we need a lot of work.

the problem i have with it is that veron has never worked as an orthodox central midfielder.
he has always been better as a deep lieing playmaker or someone that has a free role.
at manchester utd he sucked because they wanted him to do what scholes did.

Veron plays further up than that, in some respects, he IS all over the field. Has a will to play, and IS not a defensive liability, not unlike Pizarro who has more skill, but is not as good defensively. Mancini has made two mistakes this year, one was resting stars against Palermo, foolish mistake, chalk that up to inexperience....and not playing Recoba enough, who IS on his game.
Inter have given up five goals in Serie A Hanuma, four have been off set pieces. That is a good stat, and a bad one..if you follow me.
Against Porto, he decided to play with a five man midfield, and it worked if Cruz had pocketed a sure goal, then we could of countered them, but it wasn't meant to be. The rest is history.
The main goal is too get the big man scoring regularly again, without him doing that, you can write off this year.

Cosmi aims to catch Inter Sunday 23 October, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A victory against Inter today will allow Udinese to catch the Nerazzurri in the table and Serse Cosmi is confident of achieving this feat.
“We can certainly do it,” smiled the Friuli boss. “The team is doing well, so anyone is within their grasp, even if clearly we will be facing a side of great quality and potential.”
Inter have stuttered of late, losing against both Juventus and Porto, even if they thrashed Livorno 5-0 in-between those two defeats.
Udinese are also back on track after suffering four straight losses during Vincenzo Iaquinta’s exile as a result of a contract dispute and Cosmi will be meeting some familiar faces.
“Jose Ze Maria and Marco Materazzi are players who made the history of Perugia in my time there. I owe a lot to them and the others who were with us on that journey, as if it wasn’t for them then I wouldn’t be here today Coaching a club like Udinese. I often speak with Marco and we’ll be back on perfectly friendly terms as soon as the final whistle is blown.”
Cosmi is forced to reshuffle his squad, as both Jose Luis Vidigal and Christian Obodo are suspended for the big game.
“I have full confidence in Giampiero Pinzi to fill in. He is working his back to form after some unlucky injuries and I saw him motivated and determined during training this week. I expect a great deal from him.”
