Arrow Walter Samuel - extends contract until 2012

Inter have reportedly agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the season-long loan of defender Walter Samuel.

The Argentine stopper has been linked with the outfit recently and sources in Milan insist that he will arrive over the summer.

The Italian side are looking for a new central defender and he’s set to come in on loan, with an option to buy outright in 2006 for £16m.

Real have agreed to the move, as they are keen to free up a non-EU place in their squad to accommodate the arrival of Brazilian starlet Robinho.

The Spanish giants are also ready to show Samuel the door after a difficult first season in Madrid following his switch from Roma.

However, there are still problems to be resolved as Samuel will need convincing of the switch.

Inter are also keen to get him to lower his salary, which currently stands at a massive £3.6m-a-season.

Inter transfer chief Marco Branca could fly to Germany over the next few days to meet the player, who is on international duty with his country in the Confederations’ Cup.

The club are also hoping that his Argentine colleagues Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso can help tempt him to the San Siro.

Samuel, should he sign for Inter, will be joined by Real teammate Santiago Solari in the new campaign.

A £3m fee has reportedly been agreed for the Argentine winger whose arrival will be confirmed after the Coppa Italia Final.

If its true, I will be happy. More great moves by management in my opinion. Considering what Real payed for him, not bad to say the least.

yeah. definitely a very nice addition indeed. If we do get him at that price + the one year loan; a hell-of-a coup.

You will. As mentioned, they need the non-EU spot for Robinho.

I just have one worry, this could mean the end of the Luisao rumours. That worries me.

Samuel is the type of player that could potentially put our defense onto another level, and possibly on par with the other two..(you know who I mean)

j.Zanetti ,Samuel,Matrix. Cordoba .....We could potentially move J.Zanetti to the wing and have a place for Luisao...maybe move Matrix to backup and have Burdisso in there.

If it's a loan then he can come back to Roma, Samuel, Chivu and mexes...

Great for Inter if proven to be true.

That seems a little too much, don't you think?

This should be announced by thursday or friday after the coppa, if its true.

Default Inter target Samuel

Internazionale owner Massimo Moratti has admitted the club are interested in Real Madrid defender Walter Samuel.

Samuel's future at Real looks uncertain with the powerful defender failing to win over the fans since his switch from Roma last summer.

Moratti is planning what money to make available to Roberto Mancini to strengthen the squad in the summer.

The Inter chief admitted Samuel is one of the club's top transfer targets, but fears the player could be priced out a move to Giuseppe Meazza.

"Samuel is one of the players that we are following," Moratti told the club's official website.

"We have to evaluate the situation from a financial point of view because there is always a problem with the budget that we shouldn't forget."

Moratti does not believe the squad needs major surgery over the summer and he ruled out the possibility of making a mega money move for Barcelona's Ronaldinho.

"Buying him means buying a club and it's impossible," added Moratti.

"He could only arrive by selling a big player and making a big sacrifice.

"At this point I don't think even the fans want much from the transfer market.

"Their dream is to get good results. It would be a mistake to revolutionise the team and look for stars to compensate for the lack of security.

"I can see greater security, good play, and the squad just needs to be reinforced slightly. This is enough to give the squad greater tranquillity."

No, if its only a loan, and we end up paying that much for one season? Lets go back to sqaure one, and sign Luisao or Chivu.

These things take a while to sort out. Inter is very frugal of late, and Real might not have a choice when it comes to Samuel, as they are eager to sign Robinho. You know Real, always thinking with their ass not their head.

If we sign Samuel, I think we should do the same with Luisao as Julio César.Walter is a good defender, but old a bit, Luisao is young and talent in turn...
