Inter: Stan arrival likely
Inter President Massimo Moratti says he expects Dejan Stankovic to join his club in the January transfer window.
The Lazio midfielder has been linked with the Nerazzurri for some months now and the move is looking increasingly likely.
When asked whether Stankovic would be making a January switch, Moratti replied: "Yes, I think so."
The 25-year-old was expected to terminate his Lazio experience next summer after failing to agree terms over a contract extension.
But it now seems that he will leave in the New Year for a nominal fee as the capital side would lose him for nothing at the end of this term.
The capture of Stankovic would certainly delight new boss Alberto Zaccheroni who was impressed with the attacking midfielder in his brief Lazio Coaching spell.
"He is a player that unites quantity with quality," stated Zac. "I know him well after our time together at Lazio.
"His first really positive season came with me in charge, when I played him on the left hand side of midfield.
"I don’t like making the President spend money but if he has to buy someone then Stankovic is a player that can help us take a step up in quality."
Stankovic may now never play for Lazio again in Serie A after he was handed a four-match ban, for his dismissal at Siena, that won’t expire until the middle of January.

I agree, and we don't have to spend allot of money to get him. Without Emre in the lineup, it wasn't looking good. It will be interesting to see our final lineup with Stan in it.

Inter hint at Smith interest
Alberto Zaccheroni has hinted that Internazionale could launch an audacious bid to land England international striker Alan Smith - with the Leeds United star highly rated in Italy.
Smith's virtuoso performances against Lazio and Milan have raised the player's profile in Serie A, and Zaccheroni professed he was shocked nobody else from Italy had taken advantage of Leeds' financial crisis.
"I am surprised no Italian side tried to buy Smith in August knowing the financial situation at Leeds," Zaccheroni told Football Italia.
Although Inter are well stocked with forwards, they are a club that have looked to the English leagues for new recruits in the past.
Robbie Keane had a brief but encouraging spell at the club, and Paul Ince is still fondly remembered for his time at Stadio Guiseppe Meazza.

Stankovic: I choose Inter
:danc: Yahoo! Our team just got much better....
Dejan Stankovic has finally ended the speculation surrounding his future by confirming he will join Inter.
“I am in a position to choose now,” confessed the Lazio midfielder in an interview with Sky Italia, “and I can say I choose Inter.”
The Serbian international has been linked to the Nerazzurri for several months and a January departure seems increasingly likely.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he could effectively move on a free transfer in the summer.
“I want to win,” continued Stankovic, “and sooner or later Inter must break through this taboo and return to lifting trophies.”
Juventus were thought to be making a bid to intercept talks this month and tempt the player away from Inter’s clutches, but he has held firm with his initial agreement.
He will be reunited with former Lazio boss Alberto Zaccheroni at the San Siro, but curiously will play perhaps his last Biancocelesti game against his future teammates.
“I am glad that my ban was cut down to two games instead of three,” he concluded, “as that means I can play against Inter on Sunday. It was a sign from the Heavens.”

Real Madrid's Ronaldo leaves door open to Inter Milan
The Real Madrid striker said, "I'll always be thinking about a return to Inter. But for now, I am happy at Real Madrid and not considering to leave."
"2003 has been a great year for me, winning the championship with Real. For now, I still want a Champions League trophy. It is the only important championship that I haven't won."
"I do follow the Italian championship, I think Roma are doing very well, though Juve are always in a position to strike."
- Maybe in 2006 ? Ronaldo has been a fantastic attacker for Real Madrid since he join the club in 2002. He score and score, and if he leaves Real Madrid one day, I hope he will join Inter.
Remember that Ronaldo maybe is the best attacker in Europe. He has 14 goals at 17 matches so far this season.
But, do you want him back, Jager?

We are pretty strong at the striker position, I have respect for Ronaldo's physical abilities, but his attitude leaves a little to be desired. Not too mention, Real and Inter won't do business again until their disagreement is settled...if ever.
Roberto Carlos is another matter....never should of let him go.

Inter assess Cech move
Inter are already planning for the post Francesco Toldo era by grabbing an option on goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The 21-year-old is regarded by many as one of the most promising ‘keepers in circulation which has seen him linked with clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Lazio.
Toldo’s contract with the San Siro giants expires in 2005 and it is unclear at this time whether they want to renew his current deal.
With that in mind, the Italian giants have secured themselves an option on the Rennes No 1 which itself expires in 2005.
Cech, a Czech Republic international, is valued at around £3.5m.

Inter: We have no Stankovic deal
Things are starting to get interesting....Stam in an Inter jersey sounds intriguing. 8) Stankovic deal is not dead..IMHO.
Dejan Stankovic could be heading for Juventus after Inter officially confirmed they do not have anything signed by the player.
“Our interest for Stankovic is nothing new,” explained Technical Director Marco Branca on ‘Radio Spazio Aperto’ this afternoon.
“I have read some very interesting statements over the last few days and wish to officially point out that we have no pre-contracts signed by the midfielder.”
This is a crucial revelation, as it rules out disciplinary action against the Serb international.
Juventus had suggested they were in possession of a signed contract with Stankovic, even though his agent hinted that a move to Inter was almost complete.
If the Lazio man had indeed signed two different contracts with separate clubs, he would have been suspended for several months.
Now that Stankovic has been freed from this impasse, it looks as if he will be wearing the Bianconeri jersey in the near future.
Meanwhile, Inter are looking at other negotiations with Lazio during the January transfer window.
“There has been no discussion of Luciano’s move to Lazio,” insisted Branca. “This is all newspaper talk.”
“As for Jaap Stam, he is a great player and was one of our transfer targets in the summer, but we were by no means the only club interested in his services.”

Stam and Stakovic would strengthen anybody's sqaud...but I think we'll hold tight for now. The Adriano situation has forced our hand, as I honestly believe INTER were prepared to let him be, for the season.
With Adriano, Vieri, Martins, Recoba and Cruz..we have options on attack. I've heard talk of playing 3 strikers....believe it or not....

Cech's been linked to Chelsea and Real so he is no certainty to come to Inter but i agree, he does have a big future ahead of him.

Luciano back at Chievo
Internazionale have allowed Brazilian misfit Luciano to return to Chievo Verona for the remainder of the season.
Luciano moved to Giuseppe Meazza on a season-long loan last year but has failed to sparkle for the Nerazzurri.
He has been restricted to just five Serie A appearances after being unable to convince both Hector Cuper and Alberto Zaccheroni of his ability.
The 28-year-old has now been handed a lifeline back at Chievo where he established himself as a prominent figure in Italian football.
Luciano initially joined Chievo from Bologna in 2000 but created controversy when it emerged he was using a false identity.
He was subsequently allowed to continue his career in Italy after serving a short suspension but was unable to make an impact at Inter.
The midfielder will now be back under Luigi Del Neri's wing with the Flying Donkeys for the second half of the Serie A campaign.
