Moratti slams Inter stars
President Massimo Moratti has slammed his players following the derby defeat, but admits Hector Cuper isn’t off the hook yet.
“We must reconstruct the entire club on a psychological level,” he told television station Telelombardia this evening.
“The players must have faith in the Coach and vice versa. This is the crucial point, as the stars must take responsibility for their own actions.”
There were strong reports that Cuper would face the sack after the humiliating 3-1 defeat to local rivals Milan, but once again Moratti is sticking by his tactician.
“The players are not immune from criticism and blame because they are the ones who stepped on to the field and lost face,” added the patron.
“I think that the whole group can and will band together to find a solution to our problems.”
The Nerazzurri are now five points adrift of the joint leaders Juventus and Milan, having picked up just two points from their last three games. However, Cuper is not off the hook yet.
“I believe there is a plan for this team, but we must also look to the reality of the situation. So far this Coach has earned enough points to do relatively well, but not nearly enough.”
“Now the team and Cuper must work together to turn this campaign around and work towards objectives that are still attainable.”
The San Siro outfit is still top of its Champions’ League group with a 100 per cent record.
“This horrible disappointment of the derby can act as a positive spur for the side, but it must never be repeated and a reaction has to be swift.”

Its the coach's responsibility to make sure that the players are prepared physically and metally before each game. They are down one nothing at the halph, they come out dead flat and give up a goal.
What does the coach say at halph time? His only change was to take out Cruz and bring in Martins at the halph, a change which should have been done near the end of the first...not at the halph. Things like this, seperate a good tactician, from one that is incompetant..IMHO. He did make one change in the first, he took out Van der meyde, supposedly their best offensive midfielder and brought in Helveg??? A Milan reject who is better on the defensive side of things. I still don't understand that one, if somebody does, please tell me.
I find it hard to believe that the players wouldn't be up for an encounter with their biggest rival and one of the best teams in Europe.

Glad you asked, I personally would like to see the great Dino Zoff coach our team. He would have the imediate respect of the players. Something that is lacking at the moment...hence their troubles.
Having said that, I've heard various reports that Roberto Mancini could join the team in the offseason, but I don't see how this is possible since he's coaching Lazio now...but Serie A can be strange at times.
There is also Alberto Zaccheroni ...former AC Milan and Lazio coach. I think he might have the inside track, as Zoff is not tactically challenged, but does employ a defensive strategy when it comes to "calcio".

Intresting, i also agree about dino zoff.
A lot of manchester united fans have asked about zoff becoming the assistant manager at manchester united since querioz left.
He has a lot of respect from the football fans who know a good deal about the game and i agree he will be a class choice. I feel inter may look around europe maybe topmoller, van gaal or even tempt glen hoddle

Yes Glen Hoddle...I've heard some reports about him. I would say its a longshot, but you never know. I know very little about him, except some players have been "talkin trash" about him, since he got fired by Tottenham.

Yeh one of the worst managers ever...God knows how he was the manager of england.
But i do think inter will need a manager with a lot of imagination. 8)

To be honest, Moratti is the biggest problem to inter, though he deeply loves the club.
No matter who is going to take over kupa's position, he must be influential, in terms of spirit. so i reckon the new coach needs to be Italian, needs to be a greater player ever, needs to have succeeded in his coaching career.
Zoff is great, think about the game between Itali and Holland in 2000 Euro Cup, PERFECT defend. in that game, italy's defend wasn't boring, it made the audience indulge in it. Lovely, absolutely.
but, one more question: is it really necessary to change the coach? better change the boss first

Good point...., but remember he has also done good. Bringing in players like Martins, Van der meyde, Kily and Crespo last year are nothing to laugh at. I guess one could argue for or against. I'm just tired of Cuper, and their performance against Milan was the last straw for me.

IF inter can find the right manager then they should replace cuper but if they cant improve on him and get a ordinary manager then theres no point.
