HONOLULU -- Gamba Osaka became the first-ever Pan-Pacific Championship winners with a brilliant victory against Houston Dynamo in Saturday night's final.
The Japanese J-League side produced an incredible performance to clinch a 6-1 result, with Brazilian striker Bare scoring four goals.

MLS Cup champions Houston opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Ricardo Clark headed past Yosuke Fujigaya from close range.

But from that point on it was all Gamba Osaka, and Bare, who scored the only goal in the semifinal victory against the Los Angeles Galaxy, got his first on a breakaway after 16 minutes.

Bare added another to put Gamba into the lead in the 26th minute, but Houston was still in contention at halftime.

However, their hopes evaporated in the second half, as Bare completed his hat trick after an hour.

Another Brazilian, Lucas, made it 4-1 four minutes later, before Bare's struck again with a left foot drive soon after.

Masato Yamazaki completed a wonderful night for Gamba Osaka with 12 minutes to go, with his side's sixth goal.

Gamba Osaka coach Akira Nishino said afterwards: "I am very pleased with how we used an aggressive style and we showed that we have very strong condition."

Houston's Dominic Kinnear was asked if the defeat was his worst as a head coach. "I think it was actually the worst of my life," he joked.
