not too pleased with a couple of the choices, like Postiga and Nuno Gomes. And I don´t know why Maniche isn´t in the squad

Meira.. why Meira when there's Pepe and Bruno Alves who are much better players.

I'd play:

.........................Quim
Bosingwa....Pepe...Carvalho....Veloso
.........................Meira
.............Moutinho....Deco
Quaresma......Ronaldo......Simao

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

History, experience as Carvalho's partner. Just seems what the manager is more likely to do.

Why Veloso and Meira in the opposite positions to the ones they've been used to at club level?

Well, Scolari has played Pepe alongside Carvalho in every single match that Pepe was fit. Against Italy, it was Bruno Alves. Never Meira.

Meira at DM because I like him there, that was the position where he excelled for Benfica and the reason why he got into the NT, before transferring to Stuttgart. Also, in a 4-3-3, you need a kind of positional player in front of the defence, like Costinha. Petit is not that player and I don't think Veloso is ready to start for Portugal in such a crucial role.

Veloso at LB because we have no left footers in the line-up, I don't think J.Ribeiro is NT quality and I don't particularly rate neither Miguel nor P.Ferreira at LB. Also Veloso can give a bit of width to the flank as he likes to go forward and he is a good option for set pieces.

Our only weakness is at striker, and Goalie.... Quim should be a starter! Veloso at LB is interesting but Miguel is reasonable.

Strange how this nation, with its ability to produce so many supposed great players, needs two brazilians.

Very strange

Who cares. More than half of the French squad is African and no one complains.
