Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has cut his provisional 32-man squad for EURO 2008 squad by six players, with the remaining 26 to attend a training camp in Donaueschingen, Germany, from 19 to 31 May.
Korona Kielce goalkeeper Wojciech Kowalewski and Austria Vienna defender Arkadiusz Radomski are among those to miss out.
Kowalewski played in three qualifiers, including the memorable 2-1 home win over Portugal, while Radomski featured four times before suffering a serious knee injury.
The pair are joined by Zaglebie Lubin midfielder Michal Golinski, and strikers Artur Wichniarek of Arminia Bielefeld, Lukasz Piszczek of Hertha Berlin and Dawid Janczyk of CSKA Moscow.
All six players, however, still have a chance to be selected for the tournament.
"They are on a reserve list but still can make the EURO 2008 squad if there is an injury or poor form from some of the selected players," said Beenhakker.
"I know that some of the players may feel disappointed but I ensure you my colleagues and I have thought over this very carefully. I am sure we have made a fair and right, but not easy, decision."
As expected, Legia Warsaw's Brazilian-born midfielder Roger Guerreiro (pictured), who received a Polish passport from the Polish president Lech Kaczynski, has made the 26-man squad.
"We have already received an official statement from FIFA that Roger is eligible to play for Poland now," said Beenhakker.
"Grzegorz Bronowicki's recovery from his knee injury has brought further good news. Bronowicki can travel to the training camp in Germany and train with the team."
Provisional Poland squad
Goalkeepers: Artur Boruc (Celtic), Tomasz Kuszczak (Manchester United), Lukasz Fabianski (Arsenal).
Defenders: Marcin Wasilewski (Anderlecht), Pawel Golanski (Steaua Bukarest), Mariusz Jop (FC Moscow), Jacek Bak (Austria Vienna), Michal Zewlakow (Olympiakos), Grzegorz Bronowicki (Red Star Belgrade), Adam Kokoszka (Wisla Krakow), Jakub Wawrzyniak (Legia Warsaw).
Midfielders: Mariusz Lewandowski (Shakhtar Donetsk), Dariusz Dudka (Wisla Krakow), Jakub Blaszczykowski (Borussia Dortmund), Rafal Murawski (Lech Poznan), Michal Pazdan (Gornik Zabrze), Lukasz Gargula (GKS Belchatow), Jacek Krzynowek (VfL Wolfsburg), Radoslaw Majewski (Groclin Wielkopolski), Roger Guerreiro (Legia Warsaw).
Forwards: Maciej Zurawski (Larissa), Euzebiusz Smolarek (Racing Santander), Radoslaw Matusiak (Wisla Krakow), Marek Saganowski (Southampton), Tomasz Zahorski (Gornik Zabrze), Wojciech Lobodzinski (Wisla Krakow).

I like their chances. My friends are Polish, I will root for them if Portugal gets ousted.

poland can be a darkhorse.
ppl have to be careful to right them off, I think they can surprise ppl and qualify from group B.
they are waiting for a breakout year, 2008 can be it. they dissapointed in 2002 world cup and 2006 world cup and they are due to have a better performance .

Keeper Kuszczak out of Euro 2008
Quote:
Poland goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak will miss Euro 2008 after injuring his back.
Kuszczak had an MRI scan in Graz, Austria on Friday after hurting his spine and doctors decided he would be unable to play for up to three weeks.
Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has asked Uefa to replace Kuszczak with Korona Kielce keeper Wojciech Kowalewski.
Manchester United keeper Kuszczak was fighting with Arsenal's Lukasz Fabianski for the number two slot in the squad behind Celtic's Artur Boruc.
On Thursday Poland lost midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski after he aggravated a hamstring injury and was replaced by Hertha Berlin's Lukasz Piszczek.

Hmm, Roger Guerreiro was born& raised in brazil, and granted his polish citizenship in April.... The coach guaranteed him a spot on the roster.
