Trap considers old guard
Italy boss Giovanni Trapattoni has admitted that Roberto Baggio and Paolo Maldini could make Euro 2004.
Baggio returned to the international scene this week so that he could play one last time for the Azzurri before he retires.
The 37-year-old is unlikely to be named in the 23-man squad for Portugal but Trap has left the door slightly open.
"I spoke to Baggio without any problems," said the tactician who ignored him for the 2002 World Cup.
"I have players like Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano in his position. There is also Alberto Gilardino who is doing well.
I think his last statement, and the fact that it wasn't a stellar effort by the Azzurri, pretty much makes a Baggio inclusion, a no, no. ::roll::

Maldini for sure, as his leadership on our defence, would be a big lift.
Mixed about Baggio, he should be considered before Gilardino though, as Gilardino's time will come.

Maldini will never go back and he shouldn't, his performance at Milan has been awesome since he left the Azzuri + he was treated like shit after a not so great WC in korea and Trap didn't even have the guts to say one world to defend him.
I hope and I'm almost 100% Paolo wont return

You think not playing for the Azzurri, and his rescent play, are related?
Hmmm, I respect and hold Maldini in high regard, and I would be happy if he came back.

Yes i would to as it would be great to have an all star defender back again but perhaps he woun't. In the last report i read on him it said that he woulden't consider coming back.

Yes there's a big connection and even Maldini said it, after he quit the Azzuri and is now concentrating for 100% on Milan, it's like he was reborn

If they win without him, he'll regret it..IMHO. But I respect his decision.

He said he didnt want to come back!!
Trap askeed him months ago and he said NO
I would love if he came back!!!
He was the Grand Captain and lead us with greatness!!!
He is.. well Perfect and should play!!
He can help us alot!!!
He just has to play in the Euro and can leave again!!!
I love watch International competitions!!
The whole street sreems and shouts when goals are scored or missed!!!
Its a great feeling!!!!
