The second phase of the Under 19 European Championships qualifications will be played in Trentino from April 10th to the 15th. Italy, thanks to the interest and efforts of the delegation head, Piergiorgio Gozzer, was favored against Spain. The Italians are in group 6 with Switzerland, Serbia and Spain. In addition to Gozzer, head coach Pietro Ghedin was present at the draw and was satisfied with the results: "The draw was positive for us - he said- and we can play at the same level, even if Spain is a very difficult team with a very high tradition. Spain, in fact, is second as far as goals scored are concerned: Germany scored 30 and took in one, Spain scored twenty and took in none. But I am confident". Here are the groups:

Group 1:
England, Czech Republic, Austria, Ukraine

Group 2:
France, Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal

Group 3:
Germany, Scotland, Sweden, Hungary

Group 4:
Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Romania

Group 5:
Wales, Finland, Poland, Russia

AZZURRE IN PORTUGAL
FOR THE ALGARVE CUP 2007:
DEBUT ON WEDNESDAY

The National women's team reached Portugal early this afternoon where starting Wednesday, March 7th, they will play in the "Algarve Cup 2007" tournament. Italy is in Group C with the home team, Portugal, Iceland and Eire. On Wednesday, the 7th, the team will play against Iceland at the Municipale di Lagos stadium (6:00 pm), on the 9th against Portugal and on the 12th against Eire.
In Group A there is Germany, Norway, France and Denmark; in group B USA, China, Sweden and Finland. The finals will be played on Wednesday, the 14th.
A high level event that involves the best National women teams; and for Italy this will be an interesting test in light of the European Championship qualification that will begin with the match against Sweden scheduled on May 5th.
