They will be tough, but I want to shut them out if possible. I expect a complete effort on the defensive side of things. And we do that by going on the offensive and holding the ball.

defense needs to be alert and up from the minute ref blows the whistle to start till he blows it again to end the match.
while our strike force needs to be on the watch ready to pounce on errors while at the same time barraging the scots wth attacks.

Thats what im saying...they beat france, and are deff capable of beating us as well if we slack...its better then some of the match ups weve had thus far, and they are at the top of our group right now, and have a chance to qualify.

Scotland is playing at home, if we had to play for win, we would be in a little trouble. However now the onus is on Scotland to come at us, and for 90 minutes, we can shut them down.
Will we? I'm not sure, but look at Italy's history in competitions, when they are on the verge...a lot of their games end up in extra time.
For some reason, I see the team really getting prepared for this battle. I'm hoping Matrix will be available, but I'm not holding my breath.
He is traiining with Inter, but not playing yet.

While they may be good and have everything listed above going for them I just didn't think they were a "great" team. With that said I still think Italy will come out of the game with a win.

we have been "great" in this group, if anyone had said we could qualify if we win our last match most people would have laughed at the start, but now we have nothing to loose, weve done oursleves proud and exceeded all expectations from our own people and everyone else

Don prepares for D-day Monday 5 November, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roberto Donadoni focuses on the Azzurri’s Euro 2008 qualification showdown with Scotland and gives an insight into the selection process.
The world champions travel to Glasgow on November 17 needing just a draw to book a ticket to Austria and Switzerland next year.
A number of potentially important figures have been suffering from injuries in recent weeks, but Donadoni is counting on fielding his strongest 11.
“We are still waiting for some players to recover from fitness problems, but there are two weeks left and we’re hoping to have a full squad,” he told journalists.
“We will have to see about Mauro Camoranesi. He might just play for a half if he isn’t fully fit and he doesn’t have a whole game in his legs.”
It appears that Milan’s Alberto Gilardino may have fired his way back into the squad after a period in the doldrums.
“There are no problems in attack,” Donadoni insisted. “Alberto Gilardino is playing well and he’s the kind of player you jump at choosing like Luca Toni and Vincenzo Iaquinta.”
However, despite the ex-Livorno tactician’s confidence in the strikers at his disposal, Donadoni has an eye on Palermo’s Amauri.
“There are still processes to undertake and at the moment there is a problem with his passport,” he explained.
“Obviously I’d like to have him in the squad, just like any other player in Serie A or B who could help the team.”

Zambrotta has suffered ligament damage in his right ankle and may be out for the Scotland game.

Lucarelli is also a doubt, the injuries could be an issue.

Italy has to be alert with this game, b/c scotland could take the game if they dont have the proper defence (as i also agree with what many memebers are saying about defence). Also look at Portugal and Greece, everyone thought for sure that Portugal would have took the Euro back in the day but then the under dog team took it right from under them. Both teams are great and they both are equal when it comes to skills and passion for the sport so it will be a good game. But you can't say for sure one team will take it, it's anyone games.
