In Israel for example .. Avi meller one of High rated football commentator, he talks in a long article about the Orange ..... and then in his last sentence :" as you know its pretty clear ..... Germany in the Semi finals ... Easily."

Another Hight rated football commentator which I think that he is Knowledgeable person in the Israeli Media, His name is Sagee kohen.... the title of his column :" We all now the Answer : Germany ".

I don't like this .... I don't like being favourite, When we are favourite we have some underestimation toward others ... and this underestimation is the key factor of being Brazil of WC 2006, and France of WC 2002 .


The odds are Germant 4 ... then Italy, France and Spain .

Yeah, I don't like the favourite's tag either. It just doesn't help.

It depends on where they are seen as favourites. Brazil and France were also seen as favourites in their own countrys. But that is not the case in Germany. The germam media sees France, Italy and Portugal as the main favourites and not Germany. That is because of our bad record in the last two ECs. So that way the pressure on the team is not that high. I was surprised that Germany is seen as the biggest favourite from the outside.

The 'favourites' rarely seem to win these major international tournaments.

France in 1998, Brazil in 2002, Greece in 2004, Italy in 2006...

None of those teams were considered favourites but went on to win, it's a strange game.

Brazil were favourites by a long way.

They were the current World Champions and had the best player in the world at the time in Ronaldo.

I don't think many people thought France would go all the way.
