Default Tim Wiese thread

Werder Bremen keeper Tim Wiese has hit out at national trainer Joachim Löw after being left out of the German squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Wales.

The 25 year old was not selected to face Wales and Romania in the coming week and has vented his frustration and anger in the German media.

"I've given up hope of making the national team," Wiese told ‘Bild’.

"I obviously don't seem to fit in there.

"I've been playing at a constantly high level in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champion's League over the last 18 months.

"Instead of me, someone like (Timo) Hildebrand gets nominated who is only on the bench at Valencia, or (Robert) Enke who plays for a mid-table team in Hannover.

"I've been playing at the top level both nationally and internationally and just don't understand what's going on," he added.

Germany manager Oliver Bierhoff reacted calmly to Wiese's outburst, insisting that the Bremen keeper did have a future with the national side.

"He shouldn't give up on the national team too quickly. Things can happen very quickly in football and he is still one of the players we are looking at," he explained.

I know it must be frustrating but Weise has to chill a bit. I mean, he is talented, i reckon that. But this kinds of things take time.

Default Kahn backs Wiese to become No.1

Oliver Kahn has backed Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese to become the Germany No.1 in time for Euro 2008.

Kahn, who racked up 86 appearances between the sticks for Germany before his retirement after the 2006 World Cup, believes Wiese has what it takes to replace current first choice Jens Lehmann.

Wiese has recently been overlooked by German coach Joachim Low but Kahn, who also endured a fierce rivalry with Lehmann for the German goalkeeping jersey, insists the time is right for the Bremen shot-stopper.

Lehmann has produced a number of recent high-profile blunders for Arsenal and he faces a fight to reclaim his place in the Gunners side when he returns from a current injury lay-off.

"The national goalkeeper should without any question hold the same position in his club and play at the highest international level," Kahn told Sport-Bild. "Tim Wiese meets all these criteria.

"For several years now he has been at top level in the (German) championship and in the UEFA Champions League but has never been considered until now.

"The current situation is worrying. A goalkeeper who is not first choice at his club can't be selected in the national side, it's really unthinkable."

I agree, Tim Wiese is the best goalkeeper in Germany atm, he was a monster against Madrid.

IMO it's too soon for Neuer and Adler, Lehmann should be kicked out of the team, Enke and Timo as subs.

Since Low will pick Lehmann, then I'd sacrifice Timo and put Wiese in the team since Timo will be a sub the whole season whereas Wiese will save Werder's ass' the entire season

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.
"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

First goalkeeper for Germany should be Timo or Wiese.

Wiese is not doing good lately.

I liked him, but not any more.

Adler is better, at the moment.
