Default Robert Huth thread

Middlesbrough’s German defender Robert Huth is targeting a return to the national side.

After a number of injury setbacks, the tall centre-back is looking to force his way back into Joachim Löw’s plans and break into the squad for the European Championships next summer.

“I have to remain fit and play regularly, then I’m sure Joachim Löw will be on the phone” the 22 year old revealed.

Last season the tough defender, nicknamed ‘the Berlin Wall’, was out for around eight months injured. He returned to full training two weeks ago and is looking forward to making an impact in the Premier League this season.

The former Chelsea defender played his last game for Germany against Ecuador during the 2006 World Cup and currently has 17 caps to his name.

No place for you Robert, unfortunately.

Metzelder, Mertesacker, Manuel Friedrich.

You better than them? Nope.

Huth and Manuel Friedrich are about equal, both crap.

Huth needs to return to Germany and start for a good club here, then he can dream of being recalled

Yeah, but Friedrich supposedly has the edge.

Erase Manuel Friedrich and write Serdar Tasci in there. Then its perfectly right

Serdar Tasci is called up the first time now and will possible play against England. The 20 years Youngster is seen as Germany´s biggest CB-talent, his playing style is very likely Mertesacker. He got the same talent to anticipation the game but is more technical gifted.

Huth isn't great but might come in handy in the Euro 08 competition, as a sub; like in the WC 06. Don't think he'll be called to the qualifying games, only if someone gets injured or something.

I think there are better options than Huth in the Bundesliga

Default Huth out to stake claim

Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth concedes time is running out for him to prove himself to Germany coach Joachim Low ahead of Euro 2008.

The imposing central defender looks to have put an injury nightmare behind him having impressed for Boro in the past few weeks, but he is well aware that Low will need some convincing.

An ankle injury saw the 23-year-old stopper sidelined for the best part of 18 months; in a turn of events that left him seriously considering his future.

Since returning to Boro's first team at the end of the year Huth has not looked back, and now he has set his heart on winning a place in Low's squad for Austria and Switzerland.

"I am concerned that time is running out to prove myself," said Huth.

"You only need to look at the calendar to see how few games we have left.

"After every injury set-back, the games were ticked off, one by one.

"Now the friendly games against Austria and Switzerland are my only remaining hopes."

Huth admits that the outlook looked bleak for him at various stages of his rehabilitation.

"I had some pretty bad thoughts, because things weren't moving forward," he continued.

"I had the same pain in the same foot, over and over again and things were uncertain for weeks on end."
