Who should be the next no.1 Goalkeeper in the German NT?
So who should be the new Number 1 and why do you think he is the best for the german national team. Who should be the number two and three?

I think this would be a good choice.
Adler as very talented number 1.
Enke as solid number 2.
Wiese as the man for the penalty shootout and number 3.
Another option would be.
Adler as number 1.
Rost as a number two who is constantly challenging for the number 1.
Neuer as another talented goalkeeper that also has chances to become number 1.

Adler, no doubt.
I'd keep Enke as number 2, a solid and very experienced goalkeeper. Frank Rost I don't rate all that highly, I'd rather have Neuer as no.3.

^ Same here.
But the lack of European football will not make Adler be highly considered.

The number one should be Adler, no doubt. The best German goalkeeper currently.
No.2 and No.3 should be between Enke and Neuer.

German Debate: Who Is The New Number One?
Quote:
The German national team have always had a plethora of top goalkeepers throughout the years. From Hans Tilkowski to Sepp Maier, the infamous Toni Schumacher, Andreas Köpke, and ‘Titan’ Oliver Kahn, the keeper’s jersey has always been held by a great custodian.
The retirement of Jens Lehmann following the European Championships had opened up the debate as to who should inherit the mantle of Germany’s first-choice keeper.
German national team trainer Joachim has a decision to make over the coming months as Germany enters the qualification process for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In little under two years the ‘Nationalelf’ will be hoping to secure glory on the African continent and seal their first World Cup since 1990.
If they qualify, they will undoubtedly enter the finals as one of the European favourites but the question that is on everyone’s lips right know is: who is going to replace Jens Lehmann in the long-term?
The 38 year old Stuttgart shot-stopper recently announced his international retirement following defeat in the European Championship final against Spain. After winning 61 caps the former Schalke, Dortmund and Arsenal man has opened the door for a new custodian in the national side.
Jogi Löw has no shortage of options available to him, so Goal.com has taken the chance to evaluate the merits of the potential candidates.
Rene Adler (Bayer Leverkusen)
Adler is many people’s number-one choice to become the German keeper for the future. The 23 year old Leipzig-born keeper is one of the bright, young hopes of German goalkeeping. Adler is regularly the match-winner for Bayer Leverkusen with his world-class saves. He has incredibly quick reactions and at 1.91 m he is also good in the air.
He was a surprise inclusion in the Euro 2008 squad in place of Timo Hildebrand, but trainer Joachim Löw explained he had selected him with one eye on the future. As a teenager he was courted by the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
Currently out injured with a shoulder injury, he will however get his chance in the very near future and will want to prove himself worthy of the honour of becoming the new number one.
Bundesliga matches: 44
Caps: 0
Manuel Neuer (Schalke)
Neuer is the other ‘young pretender’ in goal and will in all likelihood have to battle it out with Adler for the nod from Joachim Löw. It could well be a possibility that the jersey is alternated between the two as it once was between Kahn and Lehmann, but that is far from ideal.
Neuer's hero and idol as a child was fellow German and former Schalke goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, and he has been favourably compared to Lehmann in his younger days. He succeeded Frank Rost in the Königsblauen goal midway through the 2006/07 season and hasn’t looked back ever since.
He was voted the Bundesliga’s best goalkeeper in 2007 and performed heroically for Schalke last season in the Champions League as the club reached the quarter-finals for the first time in the club’s history. He saved two crucial penalties away to Porto in the knock-out stage.
Like Adler, out injured at the moment, but will be one to watch in the coming World Cup qualifying campaign.
Bundesliga matches: 61
Caps: 0
Timo Hildebrand (Valencia)
If it wasn’t for the emergence of both Adler and Neuer, Hildebrand would be the obvious choice to succeed Jens Lehmann. He as already been capped seven times and just over a year ago was the toast of Germany having helped Stuttgart to the Bundesliga crown.
His move to Spain with Valencia hasn’t quite worked out as he planned as he was not the out-right number one he had thought he would become when he first joined. Now he has achieved that, he seems to have lost out to the youngsters from Leverkusen and Schalke.
His omission from the Euro 2008 squad was a shock, but perhaps an indication as to the future plans of Joachim Löw. He has come out publicly since the announcement of Lehmann’s retirement stressing his desire to succeed him, but the fear is he could be one of those talented keepers to just be around at the wrong time.
Bundesliga matches: 221
Caps: 7
Robert Enke (Hannover)
Enke may be the oldest of the options available to Joachim Löw, but age isn’t that much of an issue when it comes to goalkeepers- just look at Oli Kahn and Jens Lehmann.
He seems to have settled down at Hannover having enjoyed a journeyman career at Mönchengladbach, Benfica, Barcelona, Fenerbahce and Tenerife. Now the Hannover captain and tied down till 2010, he sees himself as entering the peak years of his career and will want to be given the chance to add to his single cap won back in 2007 against Denmark.
Bundesliga matches: 167
Caps: 1
Tim Wiese (Werder Bremen)
Wiese is often compared to Oliver Kahn, but not for his goalkeeping but rather for his emotional outbursts. Wiese is not the shy, retiring type and lives up to the assumption that all goalkeepers are mad.
He will however always be remembered for the atrocious howler against Juventus in the Champions League back in 2006 when he allowed an Emerson shot to squirm into the net, which cost Werder a place in he quarter-finals. Always seems to have a blooper in him.
He has been called up to the current squad as a replacement for the injured Rene Adler, but that is probably the role he will take on- emergency stand-in.
Bundesliga matches: 143
Caps: 0
Michael Rensing (Bayern Munich)
Rensing has the daunting task of replacing Oliver Kahn in the Bayern goal and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could also follow the legendary keeper as the German number one too. He is still largely untested in the Bundesliga, but does have the enviable record of never having finished on the losing side in his 24 matches so far.
He will want to concentrate on winning over the doubters at the Allianz Arena before turning his attention to the national team. His talent though is not in doubt and the Bayern hierarchy wouldn’t be investing their trust in a keeper they didn’t trust.
This is an important season for the long-term Kahn heir-apparent.
Bundesliga matches: 24
Caps: 0
Florian Fromlowitz (Hannover)
Fromlowitz was promoted from the Kaiserslautern amateur side in 2005/06 to act as back up to Jürgen Macho and made 12 Bundesliga appearances that season. He then returned to the second string before being recalled once the team had been relegated to the second division.
The U-21 keeper (8 caps) was signed by Hannover this summer to act as understudy to veteran Robert Enke, who is also in contention to become the new German number one.
Bundesliga matches: 12
Caps: 0
Ron-Robert Zieler (Manchester United)
An even younger option for the future could be Ron-Robert Zieler, who is currently employed by Premiership champions Manchester United. What his prospects hold for him in England remains to be seen, but the fact that the English giants decided to take him from Köln shows just how highly rated he is.
He was first-choice for Germany at the recent U-19 World Cup, which Germany won in the Czech Republic. Probably one to watch for the future rather than a realistic bet for 2010.

No 2007 it was Neuer and he was slightly better than Adler in the 2006/2007 season.
This year it will be Adler for sure.
