Default Martin Fenin [Frankfurt]

FK Teplice striker Martin Fenin is set to sign a five-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.

The German club are expected to pay 4.5million euros for the former Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool target.

Fenin, who impressed during last summer's Under 20 World Cup in Canada, wanted to leave Teplice in the summer but only now has his wish been granted.

"Everything has been agreed, the signature will be just a formality," FK Teplice director Frantisek Hrdlicka told Pravo.

"We will profit from Martin's future moves, there are bonuses for a number of appearances.

"We did not have to sell him but Martin wanted to leave so we accepted his wish."

Fenin's agent Pavel Zika added: "I will not comment on the financial part of the deal but we are flying to Frankfurt together with Martin and FK Teplice director Frantisek Hrdlicka on Friday to sign a contract until summer 2012.

"We are yet to iron out details on Martin's contract. He is going to go through a medical and a press conference."

Fenin will join the Frankfurt squad on 6th January when the team is flying to Portugal to prepare for the second part of the Bundesliga season.

Default Eintracht add offensive weapon

On Friday (December 28th), Eintracht Frankfurt signed the 20 year-old Czech international player Martin Fenin.

The 1.81-metre tall, 70 kg all-around offensive player penned his name on the dotted line of a contract valid through June 30, 2012. He will wear the number 17 jersey.

For Fenin a dream come true

"I'm really happy the transfer worked out. Playing in the Bundesliga has always been a dream of mine. I can hardly wait for the first match. I'm also excited about getting to play in front of such a great fan base and in Eintracht's stadium", said Fenin.

Heribert Bruchhagen, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt, was equally pleased with the transfer. "We're convinced of his playing abilities. He is an extremely talented, yet very young player who has a great deal of potential, which we can continue to foster."

Now it's almost a tradition that czech players start their international carrer in germany(fenin, rosicky) or end it here.(galasek)

it's a clever decision from fenin. he also ahd an offer from juve who wanted to lend him out straight away to udine.

don't expect too much from him though. frankfurt is not really anything close to a striker friendly offensive side and there is also some bad examples for czech talents in the bundesliga (simak, sverkos, heinz)

i can't really see him score more than 3-4 goals in the 17 games after the break...
quote me on that prediction

Impressive, though scoring against Hertha is easy these days

Still, it's always good to score a hat-trick on a club debut.

FENIN CONTINUES FLYING START

Martin Fenin's fourth goal in his first two games for Eintracht Frankfurt helped them to a 2-1 victory over Arminia Bielefeld in the sole game in the German Bundesliga on Friday night.

Twenty-year-old Czech star Fenin - who joined Eintracht from FK Teplice in January - scored their second goal two minutes into the second half after Ioannis Amanatidis had opened the scoring for the home side on 36 minutes.

Last week Fenin became only the fifth player in Bundesliga history to bag a hat-trick on debut and he played a starring role again - both with his goal and with a key pass in the build up to his side's opener.

He cut the Bielefeld defence apart to put Patrick Ochs away down the right wing, and his excellent cross along the turf left Amanatidis with a simple finish.

Fenin then added Eintracht's second before Wichniarek's late consolation.

Default Martin Fenin: Finding His Feet In Frankfurt

Young Eintracht Frankfurt striker Martin Fenin, is carving himself quite a name during his first two games in the Bundesliga after arriving at the club in winter.

It's hard to think of a better start than scoring a hat-trick on your debut for a new club, but that's excatly what Fenin did. If he maintains this sort of form over the next couple of months the striker, who is on the edge of the Czech national team, could be one of the young strikers to watch out for at the forthcoming Euro 2008 Championships.

Fenin arrived in January from Czech side FK Teplice, having made his debut aged only 16 for one of the Republic's biggest provincial sides. Fenin's goals - 7 in just 15 league appearances prior to Christmas - helped them to a promising position of third. Overall, Fenin made 77 appearances for Teplice scoring 15 goals in the process as he learned his trade in the Gambrinus Liga.

However, it was Fenin's form at last summer's World U20 Championships in Canada that really caught people's attention as he helped the unfancied Czechs into the final. Although pre-tournament favourites Argentina proved too strong in that match, his three goals en-route to the summit - including one in the semi-final against Austria - saw him finish as the Czechs' top scorer, along with Brno forward Lubos Kalouda.

His strikes alerted several top clubs, including Juventus - who have also been linked with Kalouda - but when their plans to loan him out to Udinese or Genoa in his first season in Turin become apparent, Fenin took the chance to join Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side shelled out £3.5 million for the young Czech star, making him their joint most expensive player. Some fans questioned it; the club cited his record at U19 and U20 international level - 10 goals coming in 32 youth games.

Fenin’s decision to choose first team action over a potentially more lucrative contract in Italy was justified when he was thrown into the first team last weekend for Frankfurt’s away trip to Hertha Berlin. Eintracht manager Friedhelm Funkel's faith in the young striker was immediately repaid when Fenin banged in a hat-trick against the side from the capital on his debut, one of only five players to manage such a feat in 40 years.

On Friday night Fenin followed up his three goals with another strike against Arminia Bielefeld, playing a key role in the 2-1 win. The 20 year old has already struck up a good understanding with Greek striker Amanatidis, who profited from Fenin's set up play for Frankfurt's opener at the weekend.

Fenin looks to be an outstanding finisher, coolly taking his goal to extend Frankfurt's advantage after a parried shot fell into his path. His work-rate - not only in the penalty area but also all over the opposition half - really caught the eye as he drifted out to both flanks, dragging Bielefeld's centre backs all over the pitch and creating space for Eintracht's other forwards.

His pass for the first goal was exemplary. On the halfway line, he clipped the ball out to the onrushing Timo Ochs on the right flank, thus prising open the Bielefed defence and allowing the overlapping right back to get a cross into the box for the waiting Amanatidis. So, he's not only a finisher, but a decent footballer, it seems. Thus Fenin has plenty to offer Frankfurt for the remainder of this season.

At the moment the Commerzbank-Arena side are on the edge of the European places, and although they may not be as strong as the top 5 in Germany (Bayern, Werder, HSV, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke), sixth place - the last of the UEFA Cup positions - would be a realistic target. Having a regular goal scorer in the side would go along way to making Frankfurt leading candidates alongside the like of Hannover 96 for that final place in Europe's silver competition.

Fenin's form will excite not only Frankfurt fans. If he can keep this sort of form up until the end of the season, Czech coach Karol Bruckner may have no other choice than to include him in the 23 man squad to travel to Austria and Switzerland, despite his being only 20 years old.

Fenin already has five caps for his country, making his debut last August in a friendly against Austria, although has yet to find the back of the net at senior level. It seems that, at the moment, Fenin is unlikely to push his way past the first choice striking pair of Jan Koller and new Portsmouth recruit Milan Baros. However, the youngster could represent a viable alternative, especially if the Czech Republic are chasing a game: the Czechs' 2-0 loss to Poland last week may also have seen the manager look in Martin's direction.

Even if Fenin doesn’t manage to get much playing time next summer for the national team, he is certainly a name to keep in mind for the future, as he certainly looks to have a bright career ahead of him.

Default Fenin explains choices

Martin Fenin has explained the logic behind his decision to join Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

After shooting to prominence during the 2007 Under 20 World Cup, the Czech striker had been tracked by a number of more glamorous, high-profile clubs than Frankfurt before finally agreeing a £2.6million switch to the Waldstadion.

Since the move, though, he has enjoyed instant success in Germany, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and adding another in his second appearance, immediately justifying why Frankfurt were so keen to break their transfer record to sign him.

Juventus, Werder Bremen and Arsenal were believed to be among the clubs Fenin turned down and despite the seemingly strange choice he believes that he made the right decision for his own personal development.

"They have built a fanstatic stadium in Frankfurt which has an incredible atmosphere," he told Bild.

"However, the main reason behind my decision to join Eintracht was that here I am their most expensive player ever.

"That proved to me that the club really wanted me. It would have been different had I joined Juventus where £2.6million transfers are a normal occurrence."
