Hans-Jörg Butt terminates Benfica contract
Butt to consider options
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt says that he is going to consider his future at the club in the summer.
The veteran is unhappy after losing his place in the first team 22-year-old Rene Adler, who won his place in the starting line-up after Butt was suspended for a red card.
Butt believes that the decision to cast him to the bench permanently unfair and he will now wait and see if the situation changes.
"I have played in the Bundesliga for 10 years and played 150 consecutive games before my red card," he said.
"You cannot make such a decision on the back of just one good game.
"It is not my aim to be number two and I will see how things go until the summer; then, I will draw conclusions and consider my options."

Adler is currently Leverkusen's best goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Hans-Joerg Butt is to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has lost his place in the team to Rene Adler, and could take advantage of a release clause in his contract now that he has failed to play in half of his team's matches in the second half of the season.
Butt's search for a new club is underway, though he told Eurosport: "Nothing is signed as of yet, but there is interest from Spain and England. I am looking forward to a new challenge, and will make an announcement on my future in due course."
The penalty-taking goalkeeper won three caps for Germany under the reign of Rudi Voeller, and made 190 Bundesliga appearances in his six years at Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, Leverkusen have agreed a 5.2 million euro deal with Chilean club Colo Colo for Arturo Vidal, who should replace Brazilian international Juan in the centre of defence.
Lukas Sinkiewicz has also been linked with a move to the BayArena. The Cologne centre back has announced his decision to move on this summer, and is available for a fee of 1.6 million euros.

Butt quits at Leverkusen
Goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt has prematurely terminated his contract at Bayer Leverkusen as of June 30th, 2007.
This was made possible because of his contractual situation as he played less than half of Leverkusen´s matches in the second leg of the season.
Butt had lately lost his position as No. One in goal to René Adler.
His contract would have kept him at Bayer until June 30th, 2009.
Holzhäuser: "Great servant"
"We appreciate Hans-Jörg Butts decision. He was a great servant to the club", said Leverkusen´s board spokesman Wolfgang Holzhäuser.
Besides Adler, Bayer have another two goalkeepers on their books with Benedikt Fernandez and Eric Domaschke.

Butt gets Dortmund nod
Jörg Butt will leave Bayer 04 after six years with the club at the end of the season. The 32-year-old will get the chance to bid farewell to the supporters on Saturday. “Jörg will definitely play against Dortmund. The club has celebrated some important wins with him and we want him to bid farewell in style,” said coach Michael Skibbe.
Bayer 04 definitely want to end the season with a good performance even though Leverkusen are already certain of a place in the UEFA Cup.
“I would really like to see the team put on another exciting display at home. We have suffered too many home defeats already this season. I want to see a dedicated performance against an ambitious opponent,” demanded Skibbe.
Four signing to be announced
The coach is happy with the players’ attitude in training and insisted that everyone was concentrating on the task at hand and therefore he doesn’t see any reason to make many changes. “We will basically stick to the same lineup.”
All six players who will leave the club – Butt, Juan, Marko Babic, Fredrik Stenman, Andrej Voronin and Ahmed Madouni – will be seen off on Saturday.
Elsewhere Skibbe announced that the club will name a further signing on Saturday. It will be Bayer 04’s fourth signing after already landing Theofanis Gekas, Arturo Vidal and Lukas Sinkiewicz.
Dum to return?
“I am very happy with our signings so far. We will have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. But we want to improve,” said Skibbe.
The coach also admitted that Sascha Dum, currently on loan at Alemannia Aachen, is one of the names on his list. “We believe in our talents. There is a possibility that he will return.”
No new goalkeeper
Skibbe also insisted that Bayer 04 won’t sign a further goalkeeper but will put their trust in the trio of René Adler, Benedikt Fernandez and Erik Domaschke.
The coach will have to replace both Roque Junior and Carsten Ramelow on Saturday whereas Dortmund will be without striker Alexander Frei.

Butt to stub out Bundesliga career
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt is preparing for life away from the Bundesliga after losing the number-one jersey at the BayArena.
Last season, Butt lost the starting berth he had enjoyed for the past five years to rookie Rene Adler after picking up a one-match suspension following a red card.
The experienced Butt failed to oust 22-year-old Adler from between the sticks on his return from the ban and was subsequently granted his request to leave the club - a year early - on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old is now mulling over his available options, with a move abroad believed to be his preferred choice.
Butt's agent Jorg Neblung told kicker magazine: "We are currently in advanced talks with clubs from the top leagues in England, Spain and Italy.
"We are not at all worried about the issue of being without any club at all.
"The name Jorg Butt is still a big one in Europe."

I seriously doubt it, Quim was immense in goal last season. I don't think Butt minds though, because I'm pretty sure he'll get a brutal salary..

Butt is too inconsistent to be a top goalkeeper and tbh Benfica have more and better options. I doubt he'll start.
