Led-heavy name though, Hans-Jörg Butt. Don't want to mess with someone with that name

I do not know Benfica's team very well but I am sure Butt is much better than any other goalkeeper in the portuguese league.

Thanks for info.
Not a good debut at all.
He was a very good GK. He's not anymore though.

Hans-Jörg Butt [Leverkusen]
Quote:
Butt Up In The Air
It seems like Hans-Jörg Butt could be calling an abortive end to his Portuguese foreign affair as the German keeper is unhappy by being the eternal reservist in Lisbon and Butt is open to a move...
The keeper's agent, Jorg Neblung, explained curtly that the situation was unsatisfactory as the original deal included a verbal promise that he'd be offered a first team place at da Luz, but existing Portuguese goalie Quim convinced both ex-Coach Santos and new man Camacho.
The number 24 landed in Lisbon in July 2007 and signed for the Águias (Eagles) on a a two-year deal after termination his previous contract with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, in a move designed, ironically enough to guarantee him the first team football he'd lost at Bayer.
After losing his spot at Leverkusen to young René Adler, Butt canceled his contract (until 2009) as he activated a clause that meant that the goalie was allowed to leave the club if he didn't appear in a specific minimum amount of games.
In August 2007 he made his debut for Benfica in the Torneio de Guadiana between Benfica, Sporting and Real Betis, saving a Betis spot kick and helping his new side to win the tournament. Since then, however, he's lost out clearly to Quim.
His agent is, however, not closing the door to an eventual reconciliation with the Portuguese club. “Let's see how things go up to Christmas and then we can decide something”, explained Neblung to Lisbon daily Record.

I'm pretty sure he'll leave Portugal, because no team, besides the big 3 who don't need him, can pay his salary.
He might just find a small team in either england or spain

Butt Linked With Dortmund Move
Borussia Dortmund have registered interest in bringing goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt back to the Bundesliga - but Jens Lehmannn remains their first choice.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with Benfica's Hans-Jörg Butt as their search for a goalkeeper continues.
BVB are understood to be after Jens Lehmann on loan first and foremost, but see Butt, 33, as an ideal back-up candidate should negotiations with Arsenal fail.
Butt has endured a torrid time since swapping Leverkusen for Lisbon, sitting almost exclusively on the bench as Benfica boss José Camacho opts to play Quim in goal.
Dortmund have suffered somewhat of a keeper crisis this season with Roman Weidenfeller often injured or out-of-form, and trainer Thomas Doll wants an experienced man to fill the void until the end of the season.
Butt played 324 games for Hamburg and Leverkusen until his summer move to Portugal's Superliga, and as a regular penalty taker has scored an incredible 26 goals.

Butt Latest Keeper Linked With Bayern
German keeper Hans-Jörg Butt has become the latest goalkeeper linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich.
The ‘Münchner Merkur’ has reported that the 34 year old Benfica keeper is a target for Bayern as they look to bring in an experienced back up for Michael Rensing.
Despite media reports in the past few days linking Bayern with Sebastian Frey and Marco Amelia, Rensing remains the number one for next season and the Bavarians are only looking to bring in a reserve keeper.
Butt is currently in Angola with his club side Benfica, and his advisor Jörg Neblung, who also represents Robert Enke, has refused to confirm or deny the story.
“Munich would be a great destination for Hans-Jörg, but he still has a valid contract with Benfica. But I’m ruling nothing out” he explained.
Butt is only a reserve at Benfica with Quim the first choice and he has made only one appearance in the Portuguese league this season.
The German keeper has made 324 Bundesliga appearances during spells at Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen. He has three international caps to his name.

Butt To Become Rensing Back-Up
Bayern Munich look very close to announcing Hans-Jörg Butt as their new number two goalkeeper behind Oliver Kahn’s heir Michael Rensing.
According to reports in the Bild newspaper German keeper Hans-Jörg Butt is poised to sign for Bayern Munich as their back-up goalkeeper behind Michael Rensing.
Bayern manager Uli Hoeneß has confirmed that negotiations are underway with Butt. “Yes we are having talks with Hans-Jörg Butt” he admitted to Bild.
Butt, who kept goal for Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League final, has a contract with Benfica until 2009 but would reportedly be available for around €1.5 million. He is only the number two choice at the Portuguese club with Quim ahead of him in the pecking order.
According to a story in the Portuguese sports paper ‘A Bola’, Butt’s advisor Jörg Neblung has revealed that a number of clubs are interested in his client, and he has urged the Lisbon club to reveal where they stand on the issue of Butt’s availability.
Neblung has asked manger Rui Costa and trainer Quique Sánchez Flores where they see Butt in their plans for next season. If he doesn’t feature, then a move to Bayern would seem the ideal solution.

Not bad, he could prove experience for Rensing and a decent backup when he isnt fit, Butt was a good keeper in 2002, I like this signing.

Butt Leaves Benfica
German goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt has made himself available to join Bayern Munich after parting company with SL Benfica.
The veteran custodian joined Benfica from Bayer Leverkusen nearly a year ago but has been the club's second-choice keeper behind Quim since his arrival.
With Bayern Munich reportedly interested in establishing him as their back-up choice behind Michael Rensing, Butt questioned Benfica about his role in the squad next season.
It is believed that the Portuguese club told the 34-year-old that his squad status would not change and that they would allow him to open negotiations with any team.
Butt is now a free agent after terminating his deal with the Lisbon-based side.
A statement on Benfica's official website reads: "Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Hans-Jörg Butt have reached an agreement for the revocation of the working contract with no compensation for either parties."
