Das teilte der Bundesligist am Mittwoch bei einer Pressekonferenz mit. «Wir sind froh, dass es uns gelungen ist, gerade in dieser schwierigen Phase ein Zeichen zu setzen», sagte HSV- Vorstandsvorsitzender Bernd Hoffmann. Trochowski war im Winter 2005 von Bayern München zum HSV gewechselt. Angeblich wollte der Rekordmeister den Mittelfeldspieler zurückholen. «Das hat mich nicht interessiert. Trochowski extends contract with the HSV until 2011

Piotr Trochowski extended his contract with Hamburg for two years until 2011. The player confirmed it on Wednesday at a press conference.

“We are glad that we succeeded, straight in this difficult phase an indication to set”, said the Hamburg chairman, Bernd Hoffmann.

Trochowski was transfered in the winter of 2005 from Bayern München to HSV. Allegedly the record champions wanted to bring the midfielder back. “That did not interest me. My priority is with the HSV”, said Trochowski.

HSV have suffered a disastrous season so far as early elimination from the UEFA Champions League and the German Cup was followed with a poor showing in the Bundesliga which resulted in the sacking of coach Thomas Doll.

New coach Huub Stevens has inspired his team to three wins in the past four games, but the club are just one point ahead of the bottom three.

Troche gets the call

The HSV midfielder Piotr Trochowski has been called up by the German national team coach Jogi Löw for the crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic in Prague on March 24th, as well as the friendly against Denmark (28.03.07, in Duisburg). It is the second time that the 22 year old has been called up to the senior squad. Troche made his senior debut in October 2006 as Germany beat Georgia 2-0. His second cap came in the 4-1 win over Slovakia. The midfielder is delighted: "I am very happy to be able to be included for such an important game. The nomination will give me a boost while playing fro HSV as well", said Trochwoski.

Oliver Bierhoff told us that he admires you both on and off the pitch and that you could be a part of the national teams future plans.

Piotr Trochowski: I am delighted and honoured to hear that from the team manager. I will continue to try my best for the team. I hope that I get my chance against Denmark and that I can do well.

Will the positive atmosphere here help you at club level with HSV?

Piotr Trochowski: I'm sure it will, although team spirit at HSV has improved after our recent success in the Bundesliga.
