Kuranyi Delighted With Return To Form
Kevin Kuranyi and Schalke returned to winning ways with a bang on Tuesday night, thrashing Energie Cottbus 5-0 as the striker struck four times.
Just two days after the sacking of Mirko Slomka, Schalke put all the rumours of disorder and unrest to one side to bounce back from Saturday's 5-1 drubbing at Werder Bremen.
Under the guidance of co-caretaker bosses Mike Büskens and Youri Mulder the Königsblauen registered their biggest win of the season.
The star, undoubtedly, was Kevin Kuranyi. The German international notched a hat-trick in 22 minutes sandwiched either side of half-time before notching his fourth and Schalke's fifth ten minutes from time.
"I'm delighted," the striker said after bringing his barren spent in front of goal to an end in some style. "We've shown that we're good footballers," he told Premiere. "This was a day for the whole team. Everything clicked.
"The last time I scored four times I was playing for the youth team and those goals have giving me back a lot of self confidence. All this tension regarding the management situation has brought a new freshness into the team," he added.
The result leaves Schalke third in the table and on course for the Champions League after Hamburg could only draw in Berlin.

Even Torres haven't score 4 goals in one game this season. No doubt man of the match.

Exklusiv: Für 25 Millionen Euro darf Kuranyi gehen

Bundesliga - Exklusiv: Für 25 Millionen Euro darf Kuranyi gehen
Kuranyi can leave Schalke in the summer, for a fee of 25 million euros.
As Sport-Bild exclusively knows, Kuranyi has a special cause on his contract that lets him leave before his contract ends in 2010 for a fee of 25 million euros, if a club is willing to pay it.
Kuranyi himself has confirmed it for the newspaper.
Kuranyi says he wants only success, and if Schalke can't qualify for CL next season, he will seek immediate exit.
25 million for a striker of his calibre? I can't imagine which team will get fooled and get him for such a price.

€25M???? What does Schalke think he is? No one would pay more than €10M for Kuranyi.

That's what I was thinking. I'd say 15m at the MOST. But not 25m. That's almost as bad as Stuttgart saying how Much Mario Gomez is worth.

Incase you're wondering how much Stuttgart has priced Gomez...Well, take a look.
Stuttgart put 50mil-euro price tag on Gomez

Napoli Launch Bid For King Kuranyi
According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli are launching a bid for Schalke star Kevin Kuranyi.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has high hopes to lead the club into the Serie A elite and he is expected to make a number of big signings this summer.
One position the Partneopei are particularly looking to strengthen is the forward department. With Roberto Sosa having left the club, and Marcelo Zalayeta recovering from a serious injury, two strikers will be purchased.
Sky Sport Italia says that De Laurentiis wants to partner Schalke hitman Kevin Kuranyi with young Argentine sensation Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Kuranyi had an impressive season for Schalke, scoring 15 goals, and winning a place in Germany’s Euro 2008 squad.
Napoli are set to offer Schalke €12.5m for the Brazilian-born marksman, who has a German-Hungarian father and a Panamanian mother.
Kuranyi has been at Schalke since joining them in 2005 from Stuttgart. He has a fine international pedigree, with 19 goals from 46 appearances for Germany.

I doubt that he would consider going there.

Kuranyi: We Can Win The League
Quote:
Schalke opened their Bundesliga season in fine style on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over Hannover. Two-goal hero Kevin Kuranyi is already supremely confident and believes the title could be heading to Gelsenkirchen this season.
Kuranyi grabbed a brace against Hannover at the weekend, to continue the Königsblauen’s great start to the new campaign. They had already beaten Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and FC Homburg in the German Cup.
Thoughts are already turning to the league title, but the German international striker is not getting carried away.
“We can be happy with the start we have made, but we can’t celebrate yet- we still have 33 games to go. We can be champions though. We are strong enough and the team have started the season well” he said.
“The squad is strong. We lost Jefferson Farfan and Orlando Engelaar, then Jermaine Jones, but it showed that those who didn’t play on Wednesday were not down.”
Kuranyi has handed a lot of the credit for the Königsblauen’s positive start to new trainer Fred Rutten.
“The trainer has his own philosophy. We want to fight less and combine more. It takes time, but against Hannover a few things came together. We were not only effective, but played nice football too.”
Kuranyi will be hoping to continue his early season form for Germany on Wednesday as the national side take on Belgium in Nürnberg.
