Lukas Sinkiewicz [Leverkusen]
Quote:
Cologne defender Lukas Sinkiewicz has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen after insisting he wishes to be playing top flight football next season.
The 21-year-old broke into the Cologne team three seasons ago, and has since gone on to establish himself as a key player for the west German outfit, and has also won three caps for Germany.
"Lukas has told me he would like to be playing in the top division next season," Cologne coach Christoph Daum said. "Maybe we can still offer him that possibility here in Cologne."
That possibility is looking a distant one though, with Cologne six points behind the last promotion spot, having played a game more than their direct rivals, and Michael Skibbe's Bayer Leverkusen along with Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in Sinkiewicz.
"There are interested parties, but I don't want to say any more than that," commented Sinkiewicz, whose contract with Cologne runs until 2008.

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.
See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

Sinkiewicz confirms Goats exit
Lukas Sinkiewicz has confirmed reports that he will leave Cologne in the summer, if the club fail to win promotion.
Christoph Daum's side are unlikely to bounce straight back into the Bundesliga after a miserable spell this term.
The situation has led to the Cologne captain admitting that he must play top-flight football in order to keep his international career flourishing.
"I know what I want and that is top-flight football next season," the Germany Under 21 international told the media in his homeland.
Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg and Wolfsburg are all reportedly interested in the defender, but Cologne's regional rivals Bayer Leverkusen seem to lead the race for his signature.

He would be a great signing for Leverkusen if Juan leaves.

Sinkiewicz decision
The FC Köln skipper Lukas Sinkiewicz was red carded in his last match. Now the 21 year-old player has to sit and watch.
Officials at the DFB ruled that Lucas's actions on the pitch against SC Freiburg warrant a three game suspension.
FC Köln agrees
Lukas Sinkiewicz and 1. FC Köln agreed with the ruling on Wednesday.
Lukas Sinkiewicz: "It's really regrettable that I can't be on the pitch with the squad in the upcoming games. I really wanted to play against MSV Duisburg."

The formalities have been completed - Lukas Sinkiewicz will be playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen next season.
The 21-year-old defender has joined Leverkusen from 1. FC Köln on a four-year contract. Sinkiewicz has been given the squad number 20.
All sides content
Sinkiewicz said of the move: "Bayer 04 are one of Germany's top clubs. It's a young team that can achieve a lot over the next few years. And I'm looking forward to the chance of playing in Europe here as well."
Leverkusen coach Michael Skibbe was also enthused by the signing, saying,"I know Lukas Sinkiewicz from the U-20 side. He's strong in the air and in the tackle, and will bring an added stability to our defence."

Long break for Sinkiewicz
Bayer Leverkusen will likely have to do without defender Lukas Sinkiewicz for several months.
The 22-year old twisted his knee in the 2:1 victory over Hansa Rostock on Saturday. Jens Hegeler replaced him in the 50th minute, making his Bundesliga debut.
An MRI on Sunday confirmed the worst: Sinkiewicz has a torn cruciate ligament and won't be able to play for several months.
Formerly with Cologne, Sinkiewicz played in 19 games for Leverkusen this season.
