The Managing Board of the League Association suggest a temporary solution following the unforeseeable death of President Werner Hackmann.

The Managing Board of the League Association dealt with the current situation during an unscheduled meeting on Wednesday. Only because of the large number of decisions to be made during the next months the board unanimously decided to refill the position on a temporary basis.

The board will recommend Vice President Wolfgang Holzhäuser to be elected President and Member of the Board Peter Peters to be elected Vice President in an unscheduled general meeting on March 15th.

Additionally it will be recommended to appoint Heribert Bruchhagen, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, as further Member of the Board.

General Meeting on August 6th and 7th

In any case the solution is only valid until the scheduled General Meeting in Berlin on August 6th and 7th, when the General Meeting elect the whole board including President and Vice President.

"I make myself available for the next months so that we have enough time to find a person that meets the significantly risen contentual and temporal requirements of a League President following the grievous death of Werner Hackmann", Vice President Wolfgang Holzhäuser said.

It was said that Rummenige will take Hackmann's post, but later Rummenige demanted the rumors.

Anyway...

And oh, bout Bremen's racism banner.. Good stuff.
Bayern has this thing for some months now.

Default Bundesliga remains "Bundesliga"

DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH, the German Bundesliga, will not take on the name of its major sponsor, Deutsche Telekom.

Deutsche Telekom is the German league's major sponsor, with the company's name adorning the shirts of first and second division clubs. However, the Bonn-based telecommunications giant will not infringe upon the German league's "Bundesliga" name.

There had been speculation the Bundesliga would evolve into something like "T-Liga" or even "Telekom-Liga," as part of its sponsorship deal, which began this season and which now will run until 2009.

Instead, Deutsche Telekom's name will continue to appear on kits as well as on substitution boards and scoreboards in German stadiums.

"We are looking forward to the further cooperation with a strategically interesting partner like the Deutsche Telekom. At the present point in time, the chosen form of cooperation is the best solution for all parties", said Christian Seifert, Chairman of the DFL Board, in a statement.

Good news. T-Liga or Telekom Liga as it was speculated would have been ridiculous.

Intensive dialogue with the football fans.

DFL continue to set great value upon the dialogue with the fans. Representatives of all clubs and fans from all over Germany meet in June.

In 2007 DFL continue to set great value upon the dialogue with the fans. On June 23rd and 24th a Fan Conference, jointly organised by DFL and DFB, takes place. Not only representatives of the 34 existing fan projects and all the club's fan representatives, but also organised and free fans from all over Germany will be able to swap ideas.

"We want to involve the fans"

"The Fan Conference gives all participants the opportunity to take part in a constructive-minded dialogue. We want to involve the fans in many subjects, like we already did in the past. The campaigns against violence and racism that the DFL have carried through would not have been imaginable without the fans' help", said Holger Hieronymus, DFL CEO for Competition.

DFL's full-time fan representative Thomas Schneider expects up to 400 participants within the two days, among them security, science and media experts.

Six working groups

"Working together with fans works best when all sit at a table together and understand that they can draw on an active and working fan organisation network", Schneider said.

During the Fan Conference the supporters will have the opportunity to take part in one of the six working groups: fan culture, areas of tension, fan support, anti-discrimination, communication and international matches.

Default Bender new DFL board member

The directorate of the Deutsche Fußball Liga Gmbh (DFL) has appointed Tom Bender to their management board.

41-year old Bender will henceforth be responsible for marketing and communication. The former sports chef of German Pay-TV channels Premiere and tm3 has been working for the DFL since 2001 and had lately filled the position of a director.

"By taking this step we emphasise the importance of building up and maintaining the brand Bundesliga, while generally stressing the significance of the subject of communication. Tom Bender has been doing an excellent job here in recent years”, said Wolfgang Holzhäuser who, after the death of league president Werner Hackmann, has been temporarily in charge of the DFL.

The DFL board also decided to extend its co-operation with directors Holger Hieronymus (match co-ordination) and Christian Müller (finances) until 2010. Holger Hieronymus will also act as deputy CEO of the DFL board. The DFL had extended the contract of its CEO Christian Seifert until 2010 already in January.

Default New ways to find candidates

The board of the DFL today has decided to go new ways in chosing a qualified candidate for the post of the new CEO.

This is the result of a special board meeting held today.

"It is of high importance to us to find the right person to fill the position of league president, therefore we want to gather the opinion of all clubs involved”, said Wolfgang Holzhäuser who, after the death of Werner Hackmann, currently acts as CEO of the league association.

One of the board´s first activities will be to commission a renowned consulting agency whose job it will be, in close coordination with all 36 clubs, incorporated companies, the DFL board of directors and the executive board to develop a personality profile and to define the functions of a future CEO.

"Its high time we start to think outside of the box. External know-how from the economy can only help us in these control procedures”, stressed Holzhäuser. It is planned to elect the new league president at the next rotational general meeting of the DFL on August 6th - 8th in Berlin.

Until then Wolfgang Holzhäuser, as temporary president and Peter Peters as his deputy will temporarily be in charge of the DFL.
