I think so, he is pacy and has great technique to cause damage to any defence.
He can adapt to tight marking, so Italian DMs wouldn't be a problem.

Just look at his performance against Bayern, he destroyed Ottl and Bommel.

Hmm....I could have seen this lad in the Real Madrid kit one day. If he continue performing like he has done so far this season, he had been a great player as offensive central midfielder in the Spanish capital.

But I hope he are staying in northern Germany for a couple of more years to develop even more. Even he has both played CL and league football on a high level in some years already.

Diego has enough quality to be in almost every club in Europe.
Imo if he continues performing like this I believe Bremen will receive some fantastic offers. He is their top start atm, but I can them selling him at the end of the season.

Well at Porto he was good during the first season, then he was benched during the 2nd season that's why he left Porto.
But yes he is class

Former Germany international Guenther Netzer has picked out playmaker Diego as the main factor in Werder Bremen’s impressive early season form.

While Bayern Munich fans bemoan their team's inability to replicate their Champions League form on a domestic front, and Schalke stumble from one mini crisis to the next, Bremen are reaping the rewards of several shrewd signings in the summer transfer market, and currently sit six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Their porous defence has been shored up by the arrivals of Per Mertesacker, Pierre Wome and Clemens Fritz, though according to Netzer, it is the mercurial Brazilian Diego who has provided the vital spark for Bremen over arch-rivals Bayern Munich.

“From what he has shown so far, he is simply irresistible,” the former Borussia Moenchengladbach star told Bild. “He is the signing of the year. A star, of a calibre we have not seen for a long time. And one who is now making a real difference.”

Bremen and Bayern both lost their main creative forces in midfield during the summer, as Johan Micoud and Michael Ballack moved to Bordeaux and Chelsea respectively, and while Diego has proved more than capable of filling Micoud's boots, Netzer believes Bayern new boy Mark van Bommel is some way short of the champions' saviour.

“He's a player that can be incorporated into a functioning team without a problem,” Netzer opined. “But he's certainly not the creative genius that can give the team a new face.”
