LOL A while back is an understatement. He played for Portugal in the 1966 world cup. He was the best player in that tournament and one of the best strikers in history.

Eusebio doesn't even come close to Maradona. Its sacrilege to mention him in the same breath.

For fuks sake, just look at some of the things he was doing in an ultra defensive Italy.

Or how he carried the ball from his own half, and buried a goal against England in that game.........but he is remembered more for his hand of god goal.

Diego was the best, and is the best there ever was.

The only thing that kept Esebio from almost single handedly wining the World cup that year was the fact that the English team broke his leg. Now, my reason for posting hear at all is to explain who Esebio was. He was also a striker and not a mid.

Of course.

Maradona gets no respect. That is fact.

Ok, can you explain what you are trying to say ? Read my first post again. What I said was "He was the best player in that tournament and one of the best strikers in history."

Where in there did I say he was better than Pele or Maradona ?

Meradona (in my humble opinion ) was an amazing player. No question about it at all. I would put him as second of all time behind Pele though.

No-one has any kind of doubt over Maradona's abillity - he gets a huge amount of respect and rightly so. There's still a lot of sore English guys around, but Maradona is hugely respected. I think most people actually have him as the All-time number 1 player - bitter english or not. To say it's a fact he gets no respect is strange, therefore.
