Former Liverpool and Aston Villa forward Baros was seen pinching his nose at M'Bia, in a gesture which suggested the Rennes' man was giving off an unfavourable odour.

Rennes chairman Frederic de Saint Sernin has wasted little time in coming out to confirm he will watch video footage of the game, before potentially taking legal action against Baros.

"I don't know exactly what happened but I will be informed quickly," he told Canal+.

"For the moment I have heard rumours and I am waiting to check the television images.

"If he did this gesture, I will ask for sanctions because it can't be accepted.

"The French league condemns racism."

i dont recall baros ever doing anything like that in england,hes had lots of black teamates while he was here.
that video doesnt prove anything at all.

Yeah, That is pure racism. He was Gesturing that the Guy smelled and wave his handing to indicate that.

It's clearly a "you smell" gesture, but is there proof that he was doing it specifically because M'bia is black?

If it's racism then I agree he should get some severe punishment for it, though I don't think that video alone proves that it's absolutely racism rather than just a non-race-related insult.

i agree ,i abhor racsim and if i thought baros was doing racially abusing id say he deserved everything he got, but i dont think this proves him guilty of it,ok its obviously a derogatoroy comment hes making but thats part and parcel of the game isnt it?

Telling someone they smell, could mean just that. Or he could be referring to his actual play?

That in itself is not enough in my opinion. I like to hear Baros's comment on it, before I slate him in public. I suggest you all do the same.

The media loves creating controversies like this.

How is that racist? Like Jager said, anything to sell papers. Maybe that guy did smell, maybe he was doing it to make fun of him, regardless, telling some1 they smell isn't racist, assuming thats all he did.

Did anyone watch the game? Maybe Baros was doing it because the other guy was doing something to him (i.e constantly fouling him, pulling his shirt,...etc.) and the gesture was to say "Your game stinks". I hate racism as much as you guys but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

The gesture to me is in no way racist something you see week in week out on the pitch maybe the FC Rennes defender had a little too much garlic on his pre match meal.......The French media are just looking to find something to make up a story for what in effect was a dire match......
