Daniele Cacia - close to signing with Catania
Quote:
Cacia begins Fiorentina adventure Friday 4 January, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fiorentina's new recruit Daniele Cacia has met up with his new teammates and isn’t afraid of the competition for places. “I’m here to learn.”
The former Italy Under-17 and Under-19 striker agreed a deal to move from Serie B outfit Piacenza in the summer and is now able to make the switch.
Cacia has a prolific record for the Papaveri in the Cadetti with 32 goals in 65 games and is relishing the chance to shine on the big stage.
“I want to thank everyone for the welcome they have given me,” he beamed at the Gigliati’s camp in Marbella.
“Everyone has been fantastic. I arrive in Florence with great respect for my teammates and a feeling of humility.”
The new boy will have to compete with Giampaolo Pazzini, Adrian Mutu and Christian Vieri for a place in the side, but he is ready to be patient.
“I’m here to learn,” he explained. “Of course there are some great players ahead of me in the pecking order, but I will wait for my chance and try and take full advantage of it. I think that eventually I can be a lead striker.”

At top talent, he's been banging in goals for years now.
Although this will almost certainly end Lupoli's Fiorentina career.

I agree. Ending is career is too great to say, he'll get another chance with another club.
Fiorentina is building a young strike force, somebody is going to be the "go to guy".

Cacia excited by Viola opener Friday 22 February, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniele Cacia is still getting goosebumps after scoring his first Fiorentina goal at the Stadio Franchi.
“I had never netted in front of 20,000 people before,” said the former Piacenza and Under-21 international striker.
“I arrived two months ago and am trying to improve a little bit at a time. I waited for my chance in the UEFA Cup and hope soon I’ll get an opportunity in Serie A as well.”
Cacia’s splendid volley with the inside of his left foot helped the Viola defeat Rosenborg 2-1 on Thursday night, reaching the final 16 with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline.
“I think there are differences between Bobo Vieri, Giampaolo Pazzini and myself. I feel I am more of a centre-forward in the style of Vieri.”
He had spent most of the past year out with a serious knee injury, which is why his switch to Fiorentina was delayed until January.
“I dedicate the goal to my niece, whose birthday it was yesterday. It is an international goal, but the credit is down to the sacrifices made by my family and my girlfriend.”

A blind auction between Fiorentina and Piacenza will decide the future of Cacia.

I consider Viola to have had the most successful mercato to date.
Fiorentina: Gilardino, Vargas, Melo, Jovetic. Now all they have to do is agree extensions for Frey and Mutu (though if Corvino is actually able to convince Roma to part with Perrotta and 13 million euro for the latter, I will be happy to drive Mutu to Trigoria).
The future is bright. The future is purple.
