Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has insisted that Tomas Ujfalusi will remain at the club.

“He is staying here with us,” noted the official. “Ujfalusi will celebrate his 30th birthday in Florence next year.”

Tomas Ujfalusi’s future at Fiorentina is in doubt after his agent claimed that he wants out of Serie A.

The Czech defender has been heavily associated with an exit for the last three months and Bayram Tutumlu has revealed that Ujfalusi wants a Spanish adventure.

“Everyone knows about the situation,” noted the representative. “Tomas wants to move to Sevilla this summer.

“I don’t really want to say too much as these are delicate times. All I will say is that we certainly won’t sign a contract extension here.”

Although the Italian club recently insisted that the former Hamburg man would not be sacrificed, they may be forced to sell.

Ujfalusi is contracted to the Stadio Franchi outfit until June 2008 which means he could leave next summer on a Bosman free transfer if he’s not released this year.

It’s understood that the Liga outfit are willing to spend around £5.5m for the tough tackling international.

Ujfalusi, born in Rymarov back in March 1978, joined the Viola in 2004 after impressing in the European Championships.

Ujfalusi rejects Viola extension Friday 20 July, 2007

Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi will not renew his contract with the Viola, confirmed the player’s agent.

The Czech international has been heavily associated with an exit from the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the last three months and revealed that he was interested in joining La Liga side Sevilla.

“I will meet with sporting director Pantaleo Corvino to explain to him the player’s intention not to renew his contract,” Dalibor Lacina told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ujfalusi, who joined the Viola from Hamburg in 2004, is currently contracted until June 2008 and could leave for free next summer on a Bosman move.

The Tuscan outfit must therefore decide if they would rather keep the 29-year-old for one more year or accept Sevilla’s bid, as reports suggest the UEFA Cup winners are willing to make a £5.5m offer.

“Everyone knows about the situation. Tomas wants to move to Sevilla this summer,” his manager Bayram Tutumlu announced recently.

Tomas Ujfalusi's agent revealed that his player rejected a switch to Liverpool this summer, opting instead to remain with Fiorentina.

The Viola stopper has been in Florence since 2004, and is set to remain for some time to come, at least according to agent Pavel Paska.

The representative said, "When Jamie Carragher was injured, Rafael Benitez made us an offer, but Tomas refused it.

"He really loves being in Florence and if he were to leave Italy he could only be tempted by an offer from Spain.

"I respected his decision, but I admit I was a little shocked as it is the kind of offer you only get once."

The versatile defender has made almost one hundred league appearances for the Viola since his arrival in 2004.

Previously, he spent four years at Hamburg, playing 105 Bundesliga ties for HSV, following a four year spell with Sigma Olomouc back in the Czech Republic.

The 29 year old has 51 caps for his country, having represented them at the World Cup in 2006.

The defender, who can play in the middle and on the right, may leave Fiorentina next summer when his contract expires.

Tomas Ujfalusi will sign a new contract rather than leaving Fiorentina on a Bosman transfer, his agent has insisted.

The defender has less than a year left on his current contract and it was widely expected that he would be heading out of the Stadio Franchi come the end of term.

However, Giorgio De Giorgis is almost certain that his client will eventually end up signing an extension with the Tuscan giants.

“We’ve had offers from Spain, Sevilla in particular, as well as English and Italian clubs,” noted the representative.

“But Ufo wants to make a life decision as well as a footballing one. I’m 95 per cent sure that he will stay as Fiorentina want him and he wants Fiorentina.

“After all, he could never turn his back on the Viola fans and join a rival club like Juventus for example.”

So why hasn’t the Czech Republic international not yet put pen to paper on a new agreement with the UEFA Cup entrants?

“Our relationship with the club is good, but there are economical issues to resolve and I’m sure they will be sorted out,” added Giorgis.

“After all, boss Cesare Prandelli sees him as the best full-back in Europe at this moment in time...”

Fiorentina’s Tomas Ujfalusi has become hot property and his agent claims that eight clubs are ready to move for the Czech international.

Since arriving at the Stadio Artemio Franchi from Hamburg in 2004, the 29-year-old has become a key figure in the Viola’s defence.

“We have received offers from eight top clubs,” Dalibor Lacina claimed. “However, the reality is that Tomas will honour his contract with Fiorentina.

“We will only start to deal with other clubs once his contract expires next June and I’m not sure that Tomas will leave Florence.”

It is suspected that Juventus, Inter and Milan are amongst the eight clubs Lacina has had contact with.

Outside the peninsula, Bayern Munich and Sevilla are also reportedly interested.

Tomas Ujfalusi has admitted that he’s unsure whether he will remain with or leave Fiorentina at the end of the season.

The defender is only contracted to the Viola until June and extension talks have yet to be successfully concluded.

Although the club have admitted that they want to keep him, the Czech Republic stopper has conceded that anything could happen.

“I’ll have a big say in whether I stay or go,” the 29-year-old is quoted as saying. “I would say it was 50-50 at the minute.

“My agent and I are presently in negotiations with the club and we are continuing in our efforts to find an agreement.”

The former Hamburg stopper will be an attractive transfer target during the summer of 2008 if he is available on a Bosman.

He can play as a full-back, as well as in the centre, and has been a key element in the plans of boss Cesare Prandelli.

The big Italian clubs have been unsurprisingly associated with a swoop, even if sides in England and Spain are keen.

Recent rumours claim that Sevilla are in a great position to land the defender if he decides on a future away from the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi has rejected an offer from Liverpool and could be set for a new deal with the Viola.

Ujfalusi’s agent Pavel Paska is in the process of negotiating an extension to the Czech ace’s current contract which expires at the end of the campaign.

However, the player has been linked with Juventus recently and could join the Bianconeri at the end of the season.

“I have to respect his decisions, but I was really surprised when he said no to the Reds,” noted Paska. “Liverpool rarely offer a player a second chance.”

The Czech international is in his fourth season with the Viola after his £5m move from Hamburg in 2004.

He has made 10 appearances in Serie A this season and has already confirmed he wishes to stay in Italy.

Reports from Spain suggest that Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi will join Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.

The Czech international’s contract is set to expire in June and he has refused to negotiate an extension at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

It seems almost inevitable that the 29-year-old will leave after three years with the Gigliati and over 100 appearances.

According to Radio Marca, Ujfalusi has already agreed a deal with Atletico that will see him sign a three-year contract with Los Rojiblancos starting in July.

The agreement is believed to be worth around £1m per season and will allow the talented stopper the chance to make his dream move to La Liga.

The news will come as a blow to Sevilla, who have reportedly been tracking Ujfalusi for months but have never made a concrete approach.

Czech international defender Tomas Ujfalusi has said his goodbyes to Fiorentina and is ready for La Liga.

After four years and over 100 appearances in the Viola shirt, Ujfalusi decided not to renew his contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The talented stopper looked set to join Sevilla, but was unable to agree personal terms, leaving the way clear for Atletico Madrid to pounce

“The time has come to say goodbye,” he declared in a Press conference this afternoon.

“I’m happy that I am popular here, but my mind is made up. I will be going to Spain, even if I haven’t signed a deal with anyone yet.

“I will always remember these four marvellous years in Florence and I have had a great time here.

“But now I want to try another League which isn’t Serie A or the Bundesliga. I hope to play for a lot longer yet, so maybe I will return here one day.”

Ufo is determined to leave on a high, by securing Champions League qualification with victory over Torino this weekend.

“It’s the final effort and the most important one,” he said. “We have won qualification for the last two years but been denied and that is my biggest regret.

“Now we need to do it for real. Toro will be a tough game, but we are ready to get the result.”

Very good signing. His game has rounded off nicely, and he the ability to lead, and in my opinion that is his greatest asset.

He could most certainly fill in at Milan. I don't think this over just yet.....
