Bojinov to Man City

Reports from both Italy and Germany continue to link Valeri Bojinov with a move away from Fiorentina.

The gifted Bulgarian has continually been linked with a transfer window switch to the Bundesliga, with Hamburg and Bayern Munich at the head of the queue to land his signature.

Bojinov has proven a class act in Serie A, first with Lecce and now with Fiorentina, and a series of exciting displays have not gone unnoticed across Europe.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool are believed to be monitoring the situation but it is a move to Germany which has the most credence at this stage.

Bojinov has conceded that a switch to either Hamburg or Bayern has its appeal, but is insistent that it is up to the respective clubs to concur, or not as the case may be, before he can express a desire to move.

''To Germany, would be a real change,'' said Bojinov. ''The Bundesliga ranks as one of the strongest leagues in the world.

''The stature of Bayern is a legend, nearly each year they win the championship in Germany.

''My advisor has also informed me of HSV's interest in me and I could imagine a change to Hamburg.

''However, that is not up to me alone, the process of discussion between persons of each association is a long way off.''

Whilst Bojinov appears keen on a move in principle, Viola coach Cesare Prandelli insists he will do everything in his power to keep the precociously talented 19-year-old in Italy.

''As for myself, Bojinov stays with us,'' confirmed Prandelli. ''I've already said this.

''But then, as you know, the market is difficult to predict.''

It has reported in Italy that Bayern are readying a bid in the region of €15 million - with an official offer to be lodged in the next few days.

why can't he play for inter, we really need a striker. otherwise he should go premiership, he will have to fight a lot harder if he joins manchester u, whereas if he joins hamburg he is almost guaranteed a first team spot, but he won't get the same rcognition.

I've heard of a possible swap between him and Toldo, being a strictly loan deal, which I think is a good idea.

We pay nothing, try this lad out, if he gets a chance, and see what he can do.

With the Scudetto wrapped up by Juve, this makes a lot of sense. Smart move not to blow a lot of money at a position where we are deep.

Fiorentina star Valeri Bojinov has publicly requested a switch to Inter, opening the door for the exchange of loans with Francesco Toldo.

“I want to play football,” slammed the Bulgarian benchwarmer on Sky Italia. “I would very much like to join Inter.”

There have been strong reports that Bojinov will be drafted in by the Nerazzurri to replace Obafemi Martins during his African Cup of Nations duty. Fiorentina would receive Toldo to solve their goalkeeping problems after Sebastien Frey was ruled out for three months by a knee injury.

Following Bojinov’s comments, the two clubs have conceded that a double loan deal would suit all parties.

“I haven’t spoken to Toldo, but if he wants to go to Florence and play regularly, then I cannot deny him that opportunity,” noted Inter boss Roberto Mancini.

“As for Bojinov, he is a Fiorentina player for now. He’s a great striker and at his age can improve in leaps and bounds. We need a forward and the Viola need a goalkeeper, so it’s only normal these transfer stories will emerge.”

Nerazzurri patron Massimo Moratti also stated: “This exchange is a transfer deal that makes sense for all concerned.”

Fiorentina, however, were not happy with Bojinov’s public complaints after he was dropped for new signing Luis Antonio Jimenez in today’s 2-1 win over Chievo.

“A player should be wary of making such comments, as someone who cares about a club is happy for his teammates,” noted Coach Cesare Prandelli. “Bojinov and Giampaolo Pazzini are young, but with a little patience they will make their mark.”

There are now rumours emerging that Fiorentina will only hand over Bojinov in exchange for Toldo and the loan with an option to buy for David Pizarro.

The Chilean midfielder has not settled at the San Siro and was left out of today’s 3-2 win over Cagliari.

Valeri Bojinov’s departure from Fiorentina seems increasingly likely after he revealed that Bayern Munich have stolen ahead of Inter in the race to sign him. "Bayern are my first choice," he said today.

Bojinov announced yesterday that he intends to leave Florence as soon as possible after finding himself out of favour with Coach Cesare Prandelli - who fielded new signing Luis Antonio Jimenez in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chievo.

The Tuscan side reacted by dropping the player for the trip to Sampdoria on Wednesday and sporting director Pantaleo Corvino made no secret of his disappointment in the youngster.

"If you make a mistake you will be punished," said Corvino. "And if you make a big mistake then the consequences will be even graver."

The former Lecce striker last night declared that he wanted to move to Inter and today the Milan club and the Viola were reported to be in discussions to negotiate a swap deal involving the controversial 23-year-old, Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo and possibly also fringe midfielder Claudio Pizarro.

However, it now seems that Bayern have made an approach for the Bulgaria international and Inter - whose President Massimo Moratti is keen to sign Michael Ballack in the summer - are unlikely to risk following in the steps of Juventus general director Luciano Moggi by damaging diplomatic relations with the German champions.

"In a few days time I will decide my destination which will be either Inter, Bayern or Hamburg," revealed Bojinov. "My first choice is Bayern."

This news of Bayern’s interest will nevertheless come as a blow to Inter Coach Roberto Mancini, who is becoming increasingly desperate for strikers.

With Julio Cruz having joined Alvaro Recoba on the treatment table and Obafemi Martins having left for African Nations Cup duty, second-placed Inter only have Adriano available seeing as there are now doubts over Victor Obinna’s arrival following his Nigerian call-up.

Fiorentina have this evening denied reports that Valeri Bojinov is eager for a move to Bayern Munich.

The unhappy youngster was quoted as saying that he was in favour of a move to Germany, with Inter and Hamburg also options.

However, the Serie A side have denied that the Bulgarian international made any such comments on Monday.

"The player has asked Fiorentina to categorically deny the statements which have appeared today and attributed to the player," read a statement. "Bojinov is and will remain in a Press silence."

Bayern Munich have made an offer for frozen-out Fiorentina forward Valeri Bojinov, according to reports in Italy.

The German champions have been tracking the striker for some time and his recent falling out with Viola management, in addition to the Bulgarian’s public declaration that he would like to play for Bayern, has encouraged the Bavarian side to make a bid.

Bayern are said to be willing to part with £7m to lure the 19-year-old to the Allianz Arena, leaving the Gigliati to agonise over whether to sell the controversial teenager or keep hold of a player they consider to have great future potential.

Coach Cesare Prandelli would appear to be in favour of keeping faith with the firebrand forward.

"It is a shame what has happened but let’s hope he comes back to the side as soon as possible," said Prandelli of the player who has been dropped to the youth team as punishment for his public outbursts.

"The club has got rules and principles and it’s only right that they should be respected," he added. "But I have never had a problem with him and we are ready to help him out."

Bojinov’s trouble in Tuscany continued over the weekend when he was sent-off while playing for the club’s Primavera side.

Despite denials from Fiorentina director general Pantaleo Corvino on Saturday, it's emerged today they're in talks with Cagliari about the departure of striker Valeri Bojinov.
It's understood Fiorentina and Cagliari are in talks over a swap which would see Bojinov move to Sardinia on-loan in exchange for midfielder Mauro Esposito.

The negotiations were sparked after Fiorentina fell out with Inter Milan last week over their approach for Bojinov.
