Fiorentina - Sampdoria [27/5/07]
This game has no significance in regards to place in the standings, but Fiorentina will most likely give Pazzini another shot at starting in the absence of Toni who underwent successful surgery on his foot. Fiorentina have secured a Uefa spot, and Sampdoria will be happy with their place in the top 10. Could this be the last game for Quagliarella at Samp?? It will most likely be the last time see see Toni for Fiorentina as well.

I doubt Toni will play so soon after his operation.
Forza Pazzini.

And he needs to be a starter next season if he wants to go to Euro 2008.
I want him to go so he has some real international experience for the next WC where I expect him to make a huge impact.

Serie A Week 38 - 27/5/07 (14.00 UK)
Fiorentina - Sampdoria
Stadio Franchi
There will be something of a party atmosphere at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this week as Fiorentina celebrate an impressive campaign by hosting Sampdoria in the season’s finale. Both teams have secured their position, but the players will still be keen to impress.
The Viola are now guaranteed a place in next term’s UEFA Cup after a dramatic comeback from their 15-point Calciopoli deduction. However, with more changes expected during the summer, the players will be keen to impress both the fans and Coach Cesare Prandelli in the end-of-term showpiece. The Tuscan’s form has been a bit inconsistent in the final stages, but without the pressure of securing European football the likes of Adrian Mutu and Riccardo Montolivo should be able to express their entertaining style.
Prandelli will be without some key players for this game, but won’t mind getting those kind of problems once the competitive season is over for them. Marco Donadel, Luca Toni, Alessandro Potenza and Mario Santana are all out, but that should give Fiorentina a perfect opportunity to hand starting berths to promising youngsters like Michele Pazienza, Reginaldo and Giampaolo Pazzini. There could also be substitute appearances from Primavera graduates such as Davide Brivio, Enrique Mateo and Samuel Di Carmine.
Sampdoria’s injury crisis still shows no sign of letting up, especially in attack where Coach Walter Novellino is perilously short of options. The long-term ailments suffered by strikers Emiliano Bonazzoli and Fabio Bazzani, plus Francesco Flachi’s ban after failing a drugs test, means revelation Fabio Quagliarella should play as a lone forward again. Cristian Terlizzi and Andrea Parola are also out of contention, with Pietro Accardi and Gennaro Delvecchio expected to take their place.
Samp won’t be taking things too easy if Novellino has anything to do with it though, as the tactician takes charge of the club for the last time after confirming he would end his five-year spell in Genoa this summer. The Coach has already spoken of his desire to catch the one-point gap on Atalanta and secure eighth spot, even if it will make no difference after missing out on European qualification. Having returned to winning ways against Catania last week, the Blucerchiati boss will be keen to bow out on a high.
Man on fire: Giampaolo Pazzini (Fiorentina) – The Italy Under-21 star has performed admirably since taking on the daunting role of filling in for last season’s Capocannoniere Luca Toni. He looked nervous at first but Pazzo been excellent since hitting the back of the net in his last two games.
Last season: Fiorentina 2-1 Sampdoria
Form guide: Fiorentina (W W D W D) Sampdoria (W W D L W)
Fiorentina (probable): Frey; Ujfalusi, Gamberini, Dainelli, Pasqual; Pazienza, Liverani, Montolivo; Reginaldo, Pazzini, Mutu
Sampdoria (probable): Castellazzi; Zenoni, Falcone, Accardi, Pieri; Volpi; Maggio, Palombo, Delvecchio, Franceschini; Quagliarella

2-1 Fiorentina . Goal by Quagliarella. He does well to get a shot off as he had a defender on him just outside the box.

3-1 Fiorentina. Goal by Pazzini. Mutu with a nice pass to Pazzini who puts it in. Is this a possible duo that will replace the Mutu/Toni partnership? looks likely!!

Good Game Pazzini; Montolivo; Reginaldo

Stadio Franchi
Fiorentina celebrated their European achievements by hammering Sampdoria 5-1.
There was a party atmosphere at the Stadio Franchi, as the Viola were celebrating UEFA Cup qualification and Samp waved goodbye to boss Walter Novellino. It was also a farewell for Luca Toni, who is leaving Fiorentina this summer. He sat on the side of the pitch in the driving rain after metatarsal surgery in his foot. The Blucerchiati's injury crisis continued with Emiliano Bonazzoli, Fabio Bazzani, Cristian Terlizzi, Andrea Parola and the suspended Francesco Flachi sidelined.
Adrian Mutu opened the scoring after just five minutes on the counter-attack, confusing Accardi with his fancy footwork before burying the ball at the far post.
Fabio Quagliarella pounced on a Fabio Liverani error only to blast over, while Mutu rushed at Luca Castellazzi and his finish was off target.
Castellazzi palmed a Tomas Ujfalusi missile round the post, but Riccardo Montolivo doubled their lead with a magnificent goal. He volleyed in Fabio Liverani's chip over the defence with his left foot from a very tight angle.
Sampdoria got back into the game with Quagliarella's 13th of the season. Substitute Soddimo's splendid backheel sent the striker running for a right-foot drive from just inside the area.
Giampaolo Pazzini will be replacing Toni next term and got himself on the scoresheet straight after the restart. He ran on to Mutu's through ball and kept his cool for a low finish.
Castellazzi tipped a Liverani free kick round the post and Montolivo drilled off target from distance.
Reginaldo made it 4-1 with an impressive angled drive and completed his brace by flicking the ball over Accardi for a splendid half-volley.
Fiorentina: Frey; Ujfalusi, Gamberini, Dainelli, Pasqual; Blasi, Liverani, Montolivo; Jorgensen, Pazzini, Mutu (Reginaldo 59)
Sampdoria: Castellazzi; Zenoni, Sala, Accardi, Pieri (Soddimo 35); Palombo; Delvecchio (Romeo 59), Franceschini; Maggio, Ziegler (Koman 54); Quagliarella
