Fiorentina Calciomercato Thread
The new-look Viola are taking shape and Brescia hitman Andrea Caracciolo has made an appeal to join them at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“Caracciolo has received offers from inside Italy and overseas clubs as well,” revealed his agent Tiziano Gonaga on Lady Radio.
“However, if a proposal were to come from Fiorentina then he would gladly accept. Director of Sport Pantaleo Corvino is one of the best around and we await his call.”
It is clear that Under-21 international Caracciolo will not stay at Brescia following their relegation to Serie B and he has also been linked to Juventus and Roma, though he wouldn’t be guaranteed first team football at those clubs.
It’s believed that Christian Riganò will move to Napoli, so new Viola boss Cesare Prandelli needs a tall centre-forward to support Valeri Bojinov and Fabrizio Miccoli.
In other transfer news, Palermo boss Luigi Del Neri is said to have set his sights on Vicenza midfielder Massimo Bonanni. The 23-year-old is currently co-owned by Roma and that half of his contract could be bought out for £1m.
Siena look set to lose both Massimo Maccarone and Tore Andre Flo this summer, so they are turning their attention towards injury-prone Palermo forward Davide Possanzini.

Fiorentina next for Frey?
Fiorentina look good to sign Sebastien Frey after the Parma ‘keeper said he will almost certainly remain in Italy.
Despite ensuring the Gialloblu’s Serie A status with an inspirational display in Saturday’s survival play-off against Bologna, the 25-year-old is ready for a new challenge.
"When I walked on to the field I knew it was my last match with Parma and I can tell you my heart was beating very, very hard," said the former Cannes and Inter man.
"I wanted to leave this club with my head held high after four fantastic seasons at the Stadio Tardini.
"Avoiding relegation like this was like winning the championship. This city will never forget June 18, 2005.
"But I don’t want leave like a thief. During the 2003-04 season I wasn’t paid for nine months like my teammates, but I stayed.
"Now it’s time to move on to another challenge and there’s a 95 per cent chance that it will be in Italy. I love this country, it has adopted me as one of its own."
Fiorentina are an option after the arrival of former Parma boss Cesare Prandelli on the Viola bench.
Frey also admitted earlier this month that he would "like to play for Fiorentina" if given the chance.
Reports in Italy on Monday suggest that a £4m bid will be made, with his teammate Daniele Bonera also a Florence target.
Frey is one of Europe’s top shot-stoppers even if he has never played for France at senior level - something he is eager to put right.
"I’ve never been so happy in my life and I’ve still got so much more to live and learn," he said. "There’s still this French team flashing about in my head…"

He really needs to play for France, there is no other credible opposition to Barthez - if you can call Barthez a credible first choice

I think he is a good goalkeeper but if he was that great he would have played for France by now surely.

He was fantastic against Bologna. Parma's best player..Viola have today distanced themselves from both him and team-mate Bonera. Swoop in for the latter, Luciano.

Fiorentina snub Parma duo!
Fiorentina have distanced themselves from links with the Parma duo of Sebastien Frey and Daniele Bonera.
The goalkeeper has been heavily linked with the Viola but the Tuscan outfit have ruled out his arrival.
"Sebastien Frey is too expensive," said sporting director Pantaleo Corvino. "His wages are just too high, around £8m over two years.
"That is just too much for us. We need to continue looking at other possibilities."
The Stadio Artemio Franchi side are in need of a new shot-stopper after the difficulties encountered by Cristiano Lupatelli and Christian Cejas this term.
They are now likely to continue their interest in Christian Abbiati of Milan, Brescia’s Luca Castellazzi and Morgan De Sanctis of Udinese.
Fiorentina were also heavily linked with Parma stopper Daniele Bonera, who is keen to work with Coach Cesare Prandelli again.
But Corvino insisted that they are already well covered in his position. "We have Tomas Ujfalusi, we are not looking for a double," he concluded.

Frey embraces Fiorentina
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/jul1k.html
French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has instantly become a fan favourite after agreeing a pay cut to join Fiorentina.
“I really wanted to wear the Viola jersey and accepted lower wages in order to come here,” said the former Parma man at his presentation Press Conference.
“It wasn’t a sacrifice for me, as it meant I could make my mark in an extraordinary city and really achieve something in my career. I had already worked with Coach Cesare Prandelli at Parma and I think he’s the right man for this club.”
The Viola had goalkeeping problems this season with both Cristiano Lupatelli and Sebastian Cejas making costly errors, so the arrival of Frey on loan is quite a coup.
“I am only 25 years old and can improve on many aspects of my game, but I am ambitious and have important goals.”
Milan winger Christian Brocchi and former Arezzo fullback Manuel Pasqual were also presented to the Press as part of the new Fiorentina squad.
“I am very happy to have joined such a prestigious club,” said Pasqual. “To pick up the mantle of Giorgio Chiellini gives me extra motivation to do well and I do need to improve upon my defensive qualities. I hope to make the jump from Serie B to the top flight without too many problems.”

Viola close in on Corradi
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/jul3d.html
Bernardo Corradi’s agent has confirmed that he’ll return to Serie A this summer and that Fiorentina are the favourites.
“Valencia have no intention of keeping Corradi and he hasn’t even gone to the pre-season training camp,” explained Moreno Roggi on Radioblu.
“The Spanish club wants to release him on a free loan deal, so all we have to do is find the right destination. He has had offers from Torino and Lazio, but I think that Fiorentina need someone with his characteristics.”
The Viola have been looking for a tall centre-forward and have also been linked with Christian Vieri, Udinese’s Vincenzo Iaquinta and a combined £10m offer for Palermo pair Luca Toni and Cristian Zaccardo.
“I don’t think that Lazio and Torino have the right financial status to bring Corradi in. Sevilla wanted to sign him, but he wants to return to Italy.”
The former Chievo, Inter and Biancocelesti striker has struggled to make his mark in La Liga since joining Valencia a year ago.

I think he's doing the right thing in moving back to Italy because the style of play is better suited for him. And whoever gets him will have a top striker in their hands, I rate him very highly.

He has the pick of the crop, as I see a few smaller teams looking for an experienced striker like him.
