Okay, so this is looking good. I was reserved about him at first coming to Italy, but now I think Fiorentina would be a perfect fit.

Ljungberg will only leave Arsenal for a team outside England.

Prandelli used a 4-3-3 formation with Mutu, Toni and Jorgensen the usual front three, so he was basically used as a forward (hence the 16 goals).

Yea but Jorgenssen isn't really a forward so it was more like a 451, but I guess you can call it anything.

Yeah, exactly.
Which makes Mutu's 16 goals all the more impressive, the same as Toni actually.
If that's the formation Prandelli uses this season then I can see Ljungberg fitting in well.

yep, Ljungberg isn't really a winger even if he's played there a lot. He could work very well in a 3 man midfield with Mutu handling that wing.

Fiorentina are increasingly likely to capture Freddie Ljungberg after his agent assured he would leave the Premier League.
“He has earlier said that due to his respect for the Arsenal fans he can’t play for another English club,” explained Claes Elefalk.
However, talks with the Viola are continuing after the Gunners rejected an initial £5.5m bid.
“Arsenal are demanding more than the offer Fiorentina have tabled,” the agent told Swedish news agency TT.
“The clubs have to reach an agreement first, then we will sit down and discuss an eventual offer. We haven’t reached that stage yet.”
So far Ljungberg has been linked with several other English sides, including Sven Goran Eriksson’s Manchester City, but this statement closed the door on that option.
Fiorentina began their pre-season training today and Coach Cesare Prandelli hinted that Ljungberg was a priority.
“There are a few elements missing, but the club is working well and I am convinced in a few days our transfer activity will be closed,” said the tactician.
“The prerogative is to change the system so that Giampaolo Pazzini is not isolated. Last year’s tactics were based on Luca Toni’s characteristics, but he is at Bayern Munich now and we must work out what is best for the current squad.”

Fiorentina continue Chievo talks over Obinna
tribalfooball.com - July 25, 2007
Fiorentina are locked in talks with Chievo Verona for striker Victor Obinna.
Viola sports chief Pantaleo Corvino held a third round of negotiations with Chievo yesterday over the young Nigerian.
Chievo want to sell Obinna as part of a package including Franco Semioli, but Corvino would prefer to negotiate the deals separately. Fiorentina have been talking to Chievo about Obinna since the sale of Reginaldo to Parma.

Viola join Rossi race
Quote:
Viola join Rossi race Sunday 29 July, 2007
Fiorentina join the race for Giuseppe Rossi, while Chievo and Atalanta also make new signings.
This weekend Rossi’s agent confirmed he was looking for a return to Italy after Sir Alex Ferguson freed the Manchester United starlet.
While the usual suspects of Parma – where he spent the last six months on loan – Napoli and Juventus have been suggested, it’s now reported that the Viola are in the running.
Following the departure of Luca Toni to Bayern Munich and Reginaldo towards Parma, they need another new forward to replace want-away striker Valeri Bojinov.
It is believed that so far the Tuscans are the only club to have gone very close to the £8m requested by Manchester United.
Rossi would hook up with fellow Under-21 internationals Giampaolo Pazzini, Riccardo Montolivo and Arturo Lupoli at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Their other target to give a new dimension to the attack is Chievo’s Victor Obinna, who would be available for around £2.7m after their relegation to Serie B.
Meanwhile, Chievo have signed Palermo midfielder Maurizio Ciaramitaro on a one-year loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.
Atalanta have reportedly agreed a deal to take Leonardo Jose Talamonti on loan from River Plate.

Viola eye Maxi Rodriguez Tuesday 7 August, 2007
Reports in Spain suggest that Fiorentina are lining up a £13m bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.
The Colchoneros’ captain rose to prominence after scoring an impressive goal for Argentina against Mexico in last year’s World Cup.
He has been targeted by sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, who is planning to close the transfer window with a major signing and had already offered £10m.
According to AS, the Gigliati have been following Rodriguez for a while and are now ready to fax a £13m bid to Atletico Madrid after they rejected the first offer.
Things might not be that simple though, as the Liga club is not keen on letting another key player leave after Fernando Torres’ move to Liverpool.
Another obstacle is his salary, as the Viola have offered a contract worth £1m a season which is less than the midfielder’s current wage.
Rodriguez, a reported target for Inter last year, might therefore extend his stay in Spain, while Fiorentina could opt for Chievo’s Victor Obinna.

Fiorentina in for Farfan
Fiorentina are looking to add to their attacking options ahead of the rapidly approaching season and are reported to be putting together an offer for Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan.
The 22-year-old attacker has been tipped for a move away from PSV Eindhoven for the past couple of summers but its looking increasingly likely that this will be his breakout year.
Fiorentina sports director Pantaleo Corvino is said to have earmarked Farfan, who is equally adept as an out-an-out striker or a winger, as the perfect replacement for Reginaldo following his switch to Parma earlier this summer.
Another option for the Viola would be Udinese's unsettled Italian international forward Antonio Di Natale.
The 29-year-old does not enjoy the best of relations with the Bianconeri management currently, though in any case Fiorentina would have to sit tight until for a little while longer in order to see what results from clear-the-air meeting between player and club scheduled for next Wednesday.
