Christian Vieri signs for Fiorentina
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/jul2a.html
Christian Vieri’s good friend Christian Brocchi reveals he is trying to convince him that Fiorentina is the right choice.
“For the last two weeks I have been trying to convince Vieri to come to Florence,” explained Brocchi in his presentation Press Conference at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Italian international Vieri is a free agent after agreeing to terminate his contract with Inter a year early and is seeking first team football that will enable him to be ready for the 2006 World Cup.
It is reported that the 32-year-old has been given a £6m ‘golden handshake’ by the Nerazzurri, saving on the £9m they would otherwise have had to pay over the last year of his deal between wages and image rights.
“This is a complex situation and every word I say could be misinterpreted,” added Brocchi. “It is up to the club now.”
It’s believed that Vieri would agree to a massive pay cut in order to complete the move, accepting as little as £2.5m per season.
Juventus director general Luciano Moggi ruled out a return to Turin. "Where would we fit Vieri in with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet? Let's be serious..."
The Premiership seems to be out of the question, according to Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness.
“We did inquire about Christian Vieri. I got a mutual friend to have a word with the player, but it appears he wants to go to Spain.”
One of his potential options – a return to Atletico Madrid – has fallen through after the Spaniards signed Argentine striker Maxi Rodriguez.
---
I want to see him in the Premiership... The only major league he's not played in...

Vieri 'offered' to Real Madrid
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/jul3c.html
Christian Vieri has a number of options open to him now that he is a free agent and there are reports he offered himself to Real Madrid.
According to Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’, his agent Sergio Berti called Real transfer chief Arrigo Sacchi this week to propose a move.
The striker, who turns 32 years of age on July 12, was released from his contract with Inter a year early so that he could find first team football that would enable him to prepare for the World Cup.
Newcastle United boss Graeme Souness confirmed that he had attempted to sign the player, but that he had his heart set on Spain.
If Real rejected the opportunity, then other La Liga clubs are still interested in bring Vieri back to the Division where he scored 24 goals in as many appearances for Atletico Madrid in 1997-98.
Sevilla believe that the Italian international is the right man to lead their attack for next season, while there are still Premiership options in the form of Tottenham and Bolton.
There are also reports that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has offered him an impressive package to sign for CSKA Moscow.
However, Italian clubs remain very clear favourites to relaunch his career, as Fiorentina, Juventus and even rivals Milan are interested in handing him a contract.

Vieri Voted Serie A’s Worst
Quote:
Milan striker Christian Vieri has won the 2005 Golden Flop award after being voted the worst footballer in Serie A.
The award was based on the votes of listeners to radio programme Catersport.
He received 2,992 votes, well ahead of Inter’s Santiago Solari who came second.
Vieri has netted just two goals this season and follows in the footsteps of Nicola Legrottaglie and Rivaldo who have also won the award.

i wonder how many of those votes were from inter fans?

A bit harsh I think.
The majority of votes probably came from Inter fans.

This survey was probably conducted during an Inter game. Vieri when he is called upon has played well. As a fan of Bobo, I hope he continues to get oppurtunities to show his true potential.

Vieri ponders New Year switch
Quote:
Milan’s Christian Vieri is considering a January move with clubs in England and Spain keen on the forgotten striker.
The Italian is said to be assessing his options given his lack of use at the San Siro since his summer arrival.
Vieri joined the Rossoneri for nothing from rivals Inter but has failed to make the desired impact so far.
With boss Carlo Ancelotti seemingly favouring an Alberto Gilardino and Andriy Shevchenko partnership, Vieri has rarely featured so far.
With just one goal in eight League appearances, Vieri is hungry for first team football in World Cup year.
The 33-year-old is therefore thinking of a change in an effort to not miss out on his last chance of winning a major trophy with the Azzurri.
So where could he go? The Premiership and La Liga are the most likely destinations if he does leave the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Spurs have been associated in the past, even if Newcastle could make a move given the three-month absence of the injured Michael Owen.
Other options for the much-travelled attacker, who has also played for Atletico Madrid, include Real Betis and Espanyol in Spain.

Carlo wants Vieri stay
Quote:
Carlo Ancelotti has echoed general director Ariedo Braida's remarks and has stated he wants experienced striker Christian Vieri to remain in Milan.
It had been thought the 32-year-old might leave in order to secure regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup in the summer.
However, Ancelotti is looking for Vieri to stay, although he appreciates ultimately the striker will decide if he wants to remain with the Rossoneri.
Hernan Crespo, who spent last season on loan, was in superb form in the second half of the campaign for Milan and Ancelotti sees Vieri playing a similar role this time around.
"I'll be happy if he stays, but a lot will depend about his options and his desire, which also must be respected because the World Cup is close," Ancelotti told Sky Italia.
"Hernan played really well from January to May and Vieri is in a position to do the same."

agreed, he should go, wont get any playing time with milan...going to livorno would be sick! lucarelli and vieri! livorno could land him for pretty cheap. although vieri isn't the same player he used to be, he would help improve a team like livorno.

At first I thought it was him only that wanted to leave Inter, but now I'm convinced that the club also pushed him out.
He refuses to take a pay cut, he could be playing regularly at Lazio or Doria in my opinion or even Palermo.
He had options, but he likes his big paycheque, so I can't take him seriously.
