It's true, but he's got a very large goal bonus included in his contract.
It's a smart move by Atalanta.

Vieri is and was always overrated, highly overrated.
He changed teams a lot recently, he'll flop at Atalanta.

Overrated? Not a chance. Sure, the last two years have been disappointing for him but he isn't in his prime anymore and the injuries have really taken their tole.
For Atletico Madrid he scored 24 goals in 24 games, for Inter 13 in 19 (99/00), 18 in 27 (00/01), 22 in 25 (01/02), 24 in 23 (02/03), 13 in 22 (03/04) and 13 in 27 (04/05).
His international record isn't bad either, 23 goals in 49 caps.

I miss Vieri...his presense is missed in Serie A...not the same without him on a weekly basis....same can be said about many Juve players...but for other reasons beyond their control.

Well I can't see Vieri playing on for much longer. He's already 33 and his knee injuries are starting become a serious issue.
I just hope he scores a few goals when he gets his chance in a month or two.

Vieri is not overrated at all, far from it. He is completely a one dimensional power forward, but that is another story.
If anything, I would say at times, he was underrated.

Well as is becoming the norm nowadays he was constantly underrated outside of Italy even though he was banging the goals in week after week for Inter.
I could never understand that though because goal wise he had two very good WC's as well ('98 and '02).

He was one of my favourite players. Sometimes I feel he wasn't thinking straight when he left Inter. He really could of become a legend, and the club would of been patient with him really.
Mancini has showed that he is really patient and comes back to players. Then he went to Milan and they weren't patient at all, though he was injured.
I wish him well in Atalanta

No, I think his time was up at Inter. He'd fallen out with the fans and his injuries were a real problem so I can understand why the club agreed to let him go.

Would be nice to see him back, even for a little while

Vieri available for Atalanta next month
tribalfooball.com - February 09, 2007
Christian Vieri is expected to be available to Atalanta coach Stefano Colantuono by the end of March.
The former AC Milan and Inter striker has been running for some weeks and after visiting Milan surgeon Marc Martens, who operated on Vieri's troubled knee in November, has been given the all-clear to begin working with the ball.
Vieri is expected to begin serious training in the first-half of March with a view to being fit and available for the final seven-to-eight games of the season.
