who doesnt want a big pay check. football is mostly business now and people will always try and get a bigger sum of cash in the end. that being said he should still move to a smaller club and take a pay cut to increase his playing time and also bring up his stock.

He doesn't need that sort of money though does he? And wherever he goes in top-flight football he'll have an incredible amount coming in each week. At 32 you can't expect whatever it is Ronaldo makes every week. I know what I'd do if I was him. Besides I would have thought being the star player somewhere smaller would be just the sort of constant ego push Vieri would love.

I would tell you exactly what I would of done. I would of taken a huge hit in pay, and joined and up and coming team.
Like Palermo for example. Or went back to my roots and joined Lazio.
This would insure that I play regularly, and the possibility to stick it to my old clubs.

I agree, vieri should have played with a smaller team. A smaller squad would have played the game for him to score.
I think vieri was expecting playing time in milan, because he came in before they picked up gilardino.
Realistically, he would get eaten alive in england, he doesn't have the legs any more

tell that to him and not me man. obviously i would have taken a pay cut and played with a smaller club ( livorno is cool plus the team really counts on the big striker lucarelli ). but hey we arent vieri and we all know that most people are out their for the money.

Gattuso blocks Vieri exit
Quote:
Gennaro Gattuso is convinced that teammate Christian Vieri isn’t considering his future at Milan.
The attacker has been linked with a January exit over the last few days, but Gattuso has quickly shot down claims that his great friend is on his way out.
"There is no problem with Christian," Gattuso told Milan Channel. "He wants to continue his football here.
"He is very tranquil right now. If something wasn’t right then he would have made that known. Instead, he hasn’t manifested any problem."
Vieri has seriously under-performed since his controversial free transfer from city rivals Inter in the summer.
He’s scored just one goal in eight League games and has received widespread criticism for his lack of form – something Gattuso believes is unjust.
"They are targeting him in an offensive manner and on a personal level," added the former Rangers man. "I’m talking about certain awards which have been handed to him."
Gattuso was referring to the Bidone d’Oro – the Golden Bin ‘award’ – which was given to him by a radio station for the worst player of 2005.
Alberto Gilardino, whose form is partly responsible for the time Vieri has spent on the bench, has also backed his more experienced colleague to come through this dark time.
"He seems calm to me," stated Gila. "Like me, he knew that there would be competition for places when he joined in the summer.
"He’s working very hard in training and I’m sure that he will be rewarded for all of his efforts in the end."

Milan transfer chief Adriano Galliani admits that Christian Vieri has requested a move to play first team football, which could take him to Spain or England.
“Vieri is very happy at Milan, but in a World Cup year he would like to play more regularly,” explained the Vice-President.
“He is torn and I understand his situation. In any case, this is an issue that will be decided over the next two to three days and will not drag on beyond that.”
The Italian international has barely made a mark since joining the Rossoneri in a shock free transfer from rivals Inter in the summer.
Locked out by the form of Andriy Shevchenko, Alberto Gilardino and the newly recovered Pippo Inzaghi, he has been mainly relegated to the bench.
A January transfer now looks likely and an overseas option is top of his list. While a return to Atletico Madrid, where he was top scorer with 24 goals in as many games in 1997, has been suggested, the most recent reports highlight a move to Tottenham.
“He is 33 years old and this will probably be his last World Cup, so he feels that he must safeguard that experience by playing more first team football,” added Galliani. “These are all perfectly understandable considerations.”
Other Premiership options for the centre-forward include Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester City, though The Guardian claims that White Hart Lane is the key to his loan deal.
“I will only say that if Vieri does stay, then he’ll focus all his attention on doing well with Milan. All he needs is a little patience and a brace of goals to get the critics off his back, but any eventuality will be dealt with in a climate of friendship and understanding.”
Coach Carlo Ancelotti also hinted that a departure – albeit an amicable one – was on the cards.
“Nobody here has any intention of dumping Vieri,” assured the tactician. “I would be happy if he stayed, even if I cannot give any guarantees on more first team football.”

which i have to say infuriates me, i mean he's been crap for the national team for a couple of years now, especialy euro 2004, and recent azzurru performances, he had great service in recent azzurri games in particular from del piero, so ill actually cry is vieri goes to germany, because toni deserves to be in the starting 11 way ahead of him.

Vieri back in town
Quote:
Vieri passes Doria medical Thursday 15 June, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christian Vieri is just a signature away from joining Sampdoria after passing a medical with the Serie A outfit.
The Italian striker has been strongly linked with Doria over the past few weeks and he’s now on the verge of completing the deal after cancelling his Monaco contract this week.
Vieri, who underwent knee surgery last month, has successfully come through a medical and has agreed a one-year deal. He now just has to put pen to paper.
Whispers circulating in the peninsula this afternoon suggest that he has accepted a one-year contract worth just £600,000.
“It’s an exciting operation without great operational costs,” stated Sampdoria director general Beppe Marotta, a man who worked with Vieri at Ravenna.
“Bobo, as well as being an extraordinary champion, can help Sampdoria on the field of play and is also an investment for the club’s image.”
Sampdoria owner Riccardo Garrone simply stated: “Marotta has done everything, I await to meet him…”
Vieri is now 33-years-old and returns to the peninsula after an unhappy six-month stay in Ligue 1 with the Principality outfit.
His move to Doria, where his father Roberto also played, is his third switch in a year after he left Inter for Milan last summer.

Back finally. Not sure why he didn't join an Italian outfit from the start?

It could be a good signing for Samp or he could turn out to be a flop, you never know with VIeri.
It's only a free transfer though so it's worth a gamble.

He's going to be great, as I feel he will take this off season seriously. Just a hunch.

I'm not so confident.
In my mind he's just an average player now and there's no way he'll remain fit all season. Maybe he'll get 10-12 goals but he won't be a major force like he used to be.

Good news for Samp. Important for the fans and city that a famous player joins their club.
Forza Samp in Italy!

Vieri joins Atalanta - Official
Tuesday 29 August, 2006
Christian Vieri is officially an Atalanta player, while Roma are said to be on the verge of signing Mirko Vucinic from Lecce.
Reports today already suggested that Vieri was ready to put pen to paper and the club confirmed the one-year contract this evening.
Although no financial details have been released, it’s believed he agreed to a minimum wage deal of just over £1,000 per month to join the side he originally played for in 1995-96.
There had been fears he would retire from the game completely following brief spells at Milan, Monaco and Sampdoria, the latter experience not even stretching to a single training session before his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Meanwhile, Roma are said to have found their new forward, as Lecce hitman Vucinic has agreed a loan deal worth £2m with the option to buy half his contract at the end of the season.
The Montenegrin will sign a five-year contract on Wednesday after the two clubs have finalised the last details.
In other transfer news, Siena have officially picked up midfielder Paul Constantin Codrea from Palermo.
Empoli reinforced their defence with the arrival of Daniele Adani, the 32-year-old who was out of contract after his spell at Ascoli.
