Agreed.
That guy Porto got as a part of the Helder Postiga deal, Diogo Viana, is apparently pretty good too. Let's see what he can do..
I have high expectations about Rabiola as well, he looked pretty decent and is rather young (just 19).

Guimaraes had a good season, but not as good as people make it out to be IMO, it was more the sloppiness of both Benfica and Sporting, who lost far too many points.
Maybe if they had kept Pele maybe he wouldn't have become such a great player, I'm pretty sure Inter Milan worked a lot on him. If I remember correctly, Pele wasn't even on Guimaraes' first team.

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."
Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

True, Pele was also on Benfica's B team and they let him go too, credit to Inter.
Now that Mourinho is there I would love to see Pele reach another level and become the main Defensive Midfielder of the national team. He's probably crushed he's not already on the squad.

Lucho has informed the board about his intention to leave Porto. But he still has a contract until 2011.
:.: Jornal Record :.:
It would be a damn shame if Lucho left, our most influential player, by a mile. I don't think we'd find another Lucho in the next 3 seasons.

Atletico still very keen on Lucho.
According to the Spanish press, theres a verbal agreement between Porto and Atletico that they will sell Lucho for 15m € if Atletico are interested in him.
:.: Jornal Record :.:
Verbal agreement??? Give me a fucking break.
I don't trust AS, nor any Spanish newspaper for that matter, so that "verbal agreement" makes very little sense to me.
1. Can't see us selling Lucho and Quaresma
2. Even if Quaresma ends up staying, the President ruled out selling Lucho about a month ago
3. The 15m price tag is absolutely laughable, it's not like Porto and Atletico have ever made any deals for such a thing to be agreed. If we were willing to let him go, we'd be able to get over 20m € for sure.

Well Lucho feels this is the right moment to leave the club. He says Spain is his preferred destination, but England would also be good.

The Argentina international has been linked with a transfer away from Estádio do Dragão for most of the summer, with Atlético Madrid emerging as serious candidates to win the race for his signature.
El Comandante has made no secret of his desire to experience football in a more competitive league and he has now voiced his thoughts on his future once again.
"I think this is the right time to looking for another challenge. I am 27 years old and I would like to try another country," he told Ole.
Vicente Calderón seems to be his most likely destination, although Lucho does not rule out a move to England and the Premier League.
"If I see myself in Spain? It's a league that attracts me. Atlético Madrid? I won't talk about clubs because I do not know what might happen. But there are other interesting leagues, like the British," Lucho added.

Wonderful news, our best player extends his contract.
One of the very few positive things our board has done in the summer.

How no one has stolen this guy away from Porto yet is a mystery to me. I saw an interview with him after the Classico, the interviewer said something along the lines of "with your new contract, it looks like you will be here until your 31" and he said something similar to "thats okay."
Great player that not only looks good on Porto but the league.

Argentine soccer players the bests in Portugal
+ -
08:57, September 10, 2008
Argentine soccer players Lucho Gonzalez and Lisandro Lopez were chosen as the best players of the Portuguese league, according to a poll published on Tuesday by the local sports daily "O Jogo".
"El Comandante (the Commander)" Gonzalez was chosen the best player of the Portuguese league, while "Licha" (Lopez) was chosen as the favorite to become in maximum goals scorer.
"It is not a surprising result, if we take into account the performance of both (players) ... those who follow soccer continue believing that these Argentines could keep their status," O Jogo said.
With only two seasons at the FC Oporto club, the Argentines won the preferences of the Portuguese fans, confirming the excellent moment they are going through.
Portuguese people chose the midfield player Gonzalez with 25.3 percent of the votes as the best player of the league, followed by Brazilian Fabio Rochemback from the Sporting Club of Portugal with 10 percent. Uruguayan Christian Rodriguez of the FC Porto and the Portuguese Joao Moutinho ,captain of the Sporting, are third and fourth.
The FC Porto and Sporting keep an indisputable superiority over the Benefica club, according to the poll.
Goalkeeper Quim is located on the fifth place of the list, with less percentage than the others.
Argentine midfielder Pablo Aimar, who recently arrived Lisbon, is located at the same level as the Brazilian and Leo, however, both players of the Benefica are very far from the Portuguese defense Bruno Alves from the FC Porto.
