What can we really expect from this one?
Lately I've been seeing everything but a win.

Karlsruhe still are an attack minded team and strong too. So what, they aren't off to the greatest of starts, but Karlsruhe showed what they can do against the big teams. I see this as a draw or a loss for Bayern, that is based on the current set of tactics and playing -- unless we some how turn things around internally, we just are going to suffer.
And this being an away game, Ha! No chance.

For this game Toni must be on bench...I'm pretty sure that if will insist on Klose-Poldi partenership, Bayern will score lot of goals

Predictions: v Karlsruhe (A, BL)
Long wait on Demichelis and Lucio
Quote:
Otherwise, the coaching staff are anxiously awaiting the return of the internationals from spells with their national squads. The main body is due back on Thursday, although Martin Demichelis and Lucio will not be back in Munich until Friday, just a day before the Karlsruhe trip. “It’s really stressful for both of them,“ commented Klinsmann, as the pair face long flights and inevitable jet lag after their South American World Cup qualifying appearances.
Non-ideal preparation
No-one is pretending that preparations for Karlsruhe will be easy. The rest of the team will be free to focus on tactical coaching on Friday, but regeneration will be the order of the day for Lucio and Demichelis. “We won’t even be able to train with the players we have in mind for Karlsruhe,“ Klinsmann observed. However, Christian Lell may at least be able to take his place in the squad come Friday.

That's what makes it so messed up having both of our best CB players from south america, they are jet lagged after internationals, and they aren't playing 100%. at least I haven't read anything about a serious injury on anyone.

apparently van Bommel scored a great goal tonight, so it might be a good moment to bring him back. curious to see if he will be the captain

PREVIEW/
Van Bommel to start
Bayern fired up for Karlsruhe trip
Quote:
Two weeks after a 3-3 home draw with VfL Bochum, Bayern embark on a crucial spell of seven games in 22 days with an away trip to Karlsruher SC, determined to improve on their patchy Bundesliga form to date. “After the disappointment against Bochum and the defeats to Bremen and Hannover, it’s time we put points on the board and started moving up the table,” demanded coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
Karlsruher SC v Bayern: Match facts
Current form: The teams are level on points, with FCB in eleventh, one place ahead of KSC on goal difference. Karlsruhe appear to have overcome the pre-season loss of influential duo Tamas Hajnal (to Borussia Dortmund) and Mario Eggimann (Hannover 96) with a run of three victories on the bounce (one in the Cup), whereas Bayern have not won their last three Bundesliga outings, a series Klinsmann’s men aim to remedy on Saturday.
Team news: All Bayern’s internationals returned to Munich without new injury worries. Klinsmann’s only confirmed absentees are Willy Sagnol, Hamit Altintop and Christian Lell, who is training again but is not yet fully recovered from a pulled hamstring. For the home side, Andreas Görlitz – on loan to KSC from Bayern - makes a first squad appearance of term but will not start. Stefano Celozzi, a summer arrival in Karlsruhe from the Bayern reserves, will again stand in for Görlitz. “I’m totally happy with Stefano,” commented KSC coach Edmund Becker, who also expects playmaker Da Silva (ankle) to be fit. Joshua Kennedy only returned from Australia duty on Friday morning but will play. Christian Timm is out with gastric flu.
Tactics: Becker favours a back four led by rugged tackler Maik Franz. Two holding midfielders (Mutzel, Porcello) support a three-man offensive line of Freis, Da Silva and Iashvili, who will look to play off target man Kennedy’s aerial power. KSC like to get the ball wide, where Celozzi (right) and Eichner (left) push up from full-back. For Bayern, Klinsmann has fielded both 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 formations this term. The coach declined to reveal his thinking in advance of Saturday’s clash, apart from announcing Mark van Bommel’s return to the starting line-up. The club captain spent the last three matches warming the bench. “Hopefully, he’ll give us a solid platform,” commented Klinsmann, calling on his men to play “assertive“ football.
Stats: FCB have enjoyed their visits to the Wildpark stadium down the years, with a record of played 21, won 12 and lost only four, scoring 51 goals and conceding 29. The fixture is guaranteed to produce goals: Karlsruhe v Bayern has never ended 0-0. KSC have not beaten FCB at home since 23 May 1993, more than 15 years ago, when a certain Oliver Kahn kept goal for the home side as they won 4-2. Bayern took last season’s corresponding match 4-1, and also triumphed 2-0 in the reverse fixture at the Allianz Arena.
Player to watch: Bayern should avoid conceding free-kicks too near their own goal, as former Stuttgart ace Da Silva rates as a deadly set-play specialist. Porcello is also a dab hand at dead-ball situations – he netted KSC’s goal in last season’s 4-1 defeat.
What they say:
Jürgen Klinsmann: “It’s critical we start picking up Bundesliga points and begin moving towards the top. We know we’ve been our own worst enemies, and we have to correct that. We want to make a start in Karlsruhe, because the title remains our target.“
Bastian Schweinsteiger: “The mood in the camp is good. We’re fired up and looking forward to it. We won 4-1 in Karlsruhe last season, and we’d like another three points this time. Anything less is no use to us.“
And finally…: “Lots has been written. We have to give an answer out on the pitch.“ (Bastian Schweinsteiger, asked why Bayern have been below par recently.)

Celozzi: Bring On Bayern!
Quote:
Karlsruher SC starlet Stefano Celozzi showed himself to be in boisterous mood ahead of the visit of Bayern Munich on Saturday, the team he started his professional career for.
The 19-year-old defender initially signed for the the Bayern A-youth side at 16, but found himself part of the full amateur set-up right from the start. He even underwent almost the full pre-season training regime with the first team earlier this summer before being sold on to Karlsruher.
In an extensive interview with the Bundesliga's official website on Saturday he said:
"Before moving to KSC I'd already taken part in Bayern's pre-season preparations. I played in a lot of friendlies -against Sao Paulo in Hong Kong and in games with 1. FC Köln, Borussia Mönchengladbach and RCD Mallorca as well. In training I was up against the likes of Franck Ribery and Ze Roberto. As a pro, you're rarely going to have better opponents than that, in the Bundesliga or anywhere else.
"There is of course a big difference between the Regional League and the Bundesliga. The game is a lot faster at the top level, and mistakes are punished mercilessly - although I was lucky with the one I made against Bochum. So in terms of the level of training, I was well prepared when I came here. When it came to competitive action, I just didn't worry about the adjustment necessary and I think that attitude has served me well.
When pressed on whether he would be extra motivated against Bayern he said: "Absolutely! I played for them for three years after all, and am very grateful to the club for everything I learned there. What I took in, on and off the pitch, and took away with me - it was fantastic. That said, the three points have to stay in the Wildpark, unfortunately, and we'll be putting ourselves out to that end."
Remarkably, KSC will go into the match level on points with the record champions as they are both hovering around the middle of the table.
Celozzi said this is certainly a confidence boost and was keen to point out: "We've played a game less than Bayern, so we're level with a game in hand.
"But you can't forget the potential they have there. Franck Ribery, Luca Toni and all the rest of them are players with an international reputation. FC Bayern have a totally different level of expectation to ourselves. And they're under more pressure because of it. They have to win, while we have a chance to win. We can play without any pressure. The longer the game goes on, if it's 0-0, or if we're even in front, the tougher the situation will be for Bayern."
