I find it interesting that currently the typical top 3 of Bayern, Shalke and Werder are all on 12 points. The table is all screwed up with Hoffenheim tops. I know now that this season is far from over!!

Klose Secures Vital Bayern Win
Quote:
Karlsruher 0-1 Bayern Munich
The relief for Bayern was visible on the final whistle after they secured a narrow 1-0 win against Karlsruher. The home side more than held their own, but were downed by a late Klose goal.
Bayern still have an awful lot of work to do, but will be delighted to have collected three points with a 1-0 win over KSC at the Wildparkstadion. Karlsruher gave them a good run for their money, but were cruelly punished by an 86th minute goal from Miroslav Klose.
First Half
Bayern began the game in upbeat mood, clearly fired up as they came out of the blocks. Indeed Franck Ribéry went into the referee’s notebook after just 60 seconds for a late challenge on Mutzel. Porcello tried an audacious shot that whizzed wide of the Bayern goal.
Bayern did have the ball in the back of the net on five minutes but Luca Toni’s strike was rightly disallowed by the referee for offside after good work from van Bommel.
Bayern had started the much better side and were combining well and counter attacking with ease. With just eight minutes gone Schweinsteiger flashed a shot just wide after profiting from some fantastic interplay. Six minutes later and Schweinsteiger was once again the danger man after a sublime touch from Ribéry.
His low shot looked destined for the bottom corner only for Markus Miller to pull off a great one handed save to deny him. The very next move saw Karlsruher forward Sebastian Freis hammer a shot against the Bayern cross bar.
The home side were warming up and coming more and more into the game. Brazilian Antonio da Silva, who was a doubt for the game originally, let fly from 20 meters and tested Rensing who gathered at the second attempt.
Bayern seemed to lose their attacking bite as the half progressed with Klose and Toni being well marshalled by Maik Franz and Tim Sebastian. Such was the poor level of Toni’s performance that he was replaced five minutes before half time with Lukas Podolski.
The substitute had hardly been on the pitch for 60 seconds when he tried his luck with a first time shot that flew well over. Just before the break Bayern captain Mark van Bommel received his now customary yellow card, although to be fair it did look a little harsh.
Bayern were unable to build upon their early dominance and KSC were unlucky not to score via Freis’ shot which rattled the bar. The rest of the first period was rather level.
Second Half
Just as in the first period, Bayern started on the front foot and Ribéry, who had had a quiet game in the first 45 minutes, cut the ball into the area where Klose got off a shot but saw it well blocked.
The home side responded well and a storming run from Iashvili tricked Oddo and Philipp Lahm had to be alert to cut out the ball into the Bayern penalty area. Bayern were then very fortunate again on 54 minutes with KSC going close. Da Silva’s free kick landed in the six yard box where Sebastian failed to connect. Seconds later Freis crossed for Iashvili who forced a fine reaction save from Michael Rensing.
Karlsruher were on top and on the hour mark Mutzel’s cross was deflected into the area where Rensing failed to hold the ball and Kennedy fired wide from a tight angle. Klinsmann reacted by taking off Ribéry and bringing on Tim Borowski.
Bayern continued to struggle and had to rely on counter attacks to trouble Karlsruher. Podolski looked to get through on 68 minutes but once again Maik Franz was on hand to stop him. A long, harmless shot from Borowski was the only other effort of any note as it looked like being another disappointing afternoon for Bayern.
However with just four minutes remaining Miroslav Klose grabbed the goal that had the entire bench off its feet. Massimo Oddo received the ball out on the right hand side and fired a low, hard ball across the face of the goal. Klose was a split second quicker than Franz to the ball and he slipped the ball past Markus Miller to give Bayern a 1-0 lead.
It was a long awaited goal from open play from Klose and his poorly executed somersault celebration showed just how out of practice he has been with his famous salto flip.
Goals:
1-0 Klose (86)
Karlsruher: Miller, Celozzi, Franz, Sebastian, Eichner, Mutzel (Aduobe 79, Porcello, Freis, da Silva, Iashvili (Carnell 85), Kennedy (Kapllani 72)
Bayern Munich: Rensing, Oddo, Lucio, Demichelis, Lahm, van Bommel, Zé Roberto, Schweinsteiger, Ribéry (Borowski 59), Toni (Podolski 40), Klose (Kroos 89)

I was unable to watch the match, but am glad we got 3 points.
I don't care how ugly it was, a win is a win.
That being said, one of you said Toni was injured? Anybody know how serious?

I doubt it was serious, he was limping slightly but it didn't really seem like he was in pain if it wasn't a bit of an act all together due to him being taken of even before halftime.

It's nice to get all 3 points but doesn't mean we're out of the woods.
We won 1-0. 1-0. Against Karlsruhe. How do you think we'll fare against Fiorentina who just won 3-0?

We have to start somewhere! Hopefully we can build on this win and hope that it's the beginning of a shift in momentum.

Klinsmann: We Fought Like Crazy
Quote:
It took 86 minutes to find the breakthrough, and the relief was visible as Bayern secured a vital 1-0 win over Karlsruher. Under-fire trainer Jürgen Klinsmann praised the way his team carried on battling against a tough KSC side.
Miroslav Klose’s goal four minutes from time has finally seen the Bundesliga champions secure all three points and taken a little pressure off of them going into the midweek Champions League fixture with Fiorentina.
It wasn’t pretty and Bayern were far from convincing but the win this weekend was a little more important than the performance.
“It was a very important win in order to push up the table” Klinsmann explained. “In the past two or three games we have not played to our true ability in the Bundesliga and now we go into the Champions League week.
“It is important to get an away win under our belts to start a winning series” he added.
Captain Mark van Bommel, who returned to the side today, was also proud of the way his team mates battled throughout the game.
“It was important to win the three points today in a difficult game. When things are going badly, you have to fight.
“I think we did that today right up to the final last minute. We never gave up.”

Hoeness: A Really Important Win
Quote:
Bayern Munich director Uli Hoeneß is convinced that the last gasp 1-0 win over Karlsruher will serve as the turning point for the defending champion's season.
Miroslav Klose’s goal four minutes from time has finally saw Bayern secure all three points and taken a little pressure off of them going into the midweek Champions League fixture with Fiorentina, while ensuring that they maintain touch with the early frontrunners.
“It was a really important win. It was a battle out there. We had some great chances in the first half but didn’t put them away, and it was hard work after that," said Hoeneß after the game.
"At the end of the day we were a little bit lucky, but what we need at the moment is a little bit of luck. The team scrapped away like madmen until the very last minute.
"Don’t forget we had ten players away on international duty, whereas KSC had maybe two or three.
"It’s always a difficult situation for Bayern. Our morale is 100 percent good, it’s just a question of belief at the moment. We were short of confidence after some less than perfect results, but it’ll come back now. I think the tide has turned.“

We played good in the first few minutes, but then we started playing usual crap. We're playing ugly football really, it's painful to watch this Bayern. We played without a clear vision. No link between the players, actions of no result.
I was sooooo happy when Klose scored, I can't describe it. This is the start. We have to continue with improvement and positive results. We can't allow any more setbacks.

Klinsmann: Plenty To Still Impove
Quote:
Bayern Munich boss Jürgen Klinsmann underlined his satisfaction with the 1-0 win over KSC in a recent interview with the Bundesliga's official website, but stressed that he realizes that there is still plenty that both can and needs to be improved.
"As coach there are always things you see that could have been done better," he said. "There's always things to improve on. But we're headed in the right direction.
"After the recent results, it was only natural that we wanted to expel some of the frustration and show our true worth.
He added: "The squad is the star at Bayern. That's why everyone has been given a chance to prove their worth in the last three months.
"The team is only as strong as its weakest link, and I'm convinced that there is no drop in quality when someone new comes in due to injury or suspension."
One injury that will surely be keenly felt at Bayern should it persist, however, is to the sore ribs of Luca Toni, who would like nothing more than to line up against his former side Fiorentina in the Champions League on Tuesday.
