Oddo: Italy Could Learn From Germany

Quote:
Bayern Munich defender Massimo Oddo has hailed the family environment of Germany's stadiums, and says that Italy could learn a lot from the Bundesliga.

Italy has had some well documented problems regarding stadium and supporter violence over the past few years, with the most recent high-profile incident being the Napoli fan rampage on the opening game of the season against Roma.

Massimo Oddo left Serie A for the Bundesliga this summer, and he has been full of praise for the atmosphere in the stadiums in Germany, where there are virtually no reports of violence.

"In Germany people go to the stadiums with their children, and supporters of both teams are mixed together," said the Bayern Munich man.

"It is a triumph for sport. In Italy, unfortunately, this kind of thing would not be possible."

Bayern Munich announced the capture of Oddo from Milan at the end of August on a one-year loan deal, with the option of making the move permanent next summer.

Right back Oddo had been heavily linked with an exit from Milan all summer as he was well down the Rossoneri pecking order, behind both Daniele Bonera and new signing Gianluca Zambrotta.

He had been expected to join French champions Lyon, and it was even reported in some circles that a deal had been done, but instead the 32-year-old ended up joining Bayern.

Damn straight! Italians totally ruin things in Italy. Luca Toni said it himself. The stands are always full, even in Milan, and its because of the violence, racism, etc. Italian fußball has totally gone downhill.

Oddo Happy In Germany

Quote:
Bayern Munich right-back Massimo Oddo has made it clear he is happy in Germany and does not miss his homeland...

Bayern Munich's Massimo Oddo is preparing to take on Fiorentina at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, but the player has revealed that he does not miss life in Italy at the moment.

Oddo left AC Milan during the summer; after the arrival of Gianluca Zambrotta and the return of Marek Jankulovski from injury, it seems Carlo Ancelotti did not require the Azzurri defender's services any longer, so he was allowed to leave on-loan for Bayern.

"I don't miss Italian football and I'm happy where I am," admitted the former Lazio captain to Radio Gol. "The game against Fiorentina will be important and it could be a significant win, but really it is just another game."

"The Gigliati are playing well, they are on good form and it will be an exciting game," he claimed.

Oddo is not the only Italian Bayern will bring to the Champions League match-up. He will be joined by team-mate Luca Toni, who played scored nearly 50 goals during a two-season spell with Fiorentina in Serie A.

Bayern host la Viola at 2045 CET on Tuesday.
