Default #20 José Ernesto Sosa

Bayern Munich are on the verge of snapping up Argentine starlet Jose Ernesto Sosa, according to reports in the German press.

The Bundesliga champions have struggled to fill the void left by Michael Ballack's transfer to Chelsea and, with Bastian Schweinsteiger plagued by poor form, have looked short of ideas and power in midfield.

Sosa is already understood to have travelled to Munich in order to finalise arrangements for a summer move to Bayern.

The Under 21 international has earned rave reviews in his Argentine homeland, after helping club side Estudiantes win the league title in 2006.

Estudiantes president Eduardo Abadie had initially ruled out the possibility of selling his most prized asset, amid rumours of interest from Benfica, Atletico Madrid and Milan.

However, Bayern are reportedly ready to part with €10million (£6.7million) as they look to strengthen ahead of next season.

Alemannia Aachen's Jan Schlaudraff and Hamit Altintop of Schalke have already agreed to join Bayern in the summer.

As the argentinian newspaper "Clarin" reports, the German record-champion FC Bayern München has signed the argentinian midfielder Jose Ernesto Sosa from Estudiantes de La Plata.

The transfer fee is reported to be 4,6 million euros.

Sosa would be the third new arrival in Allianz Arena for the next season, after Jan Schlaudraff (Alemannia Aachen) and Hamit Altintop (Schalke 04) have already signed and confirmed they'll be playing for Bayern for the next season.

Though, close Bayern sources say that Sosa's flight to Munich has been cancelled cuz he demands higher wages. Also, Spanish radiostations are reporting that he's on his way to Valencia. And, a lot of agents are being involved in this case.

This is getting confusing though. Sosa has signed a precontract and Bayern threaten to report Valenica to FIFA. I guess Bayern will try to get some money out of this, similar to the Obi Mikel - ManU - Chelsea story.

The last thing we need is another unhappy Latino.

Well, I don't want another Julio dos Santos. I would prefer if we get the money and he transfers to Valencia.

I'm more interested on an experienced midfielder

Well, Hoeness confirmed it, and Sosa will play for us, starting on July 1, 2007.

I don't know whether to be happy or not.

I'm really not sure about South Americans on the Bundesliga.
They find it hard to adapt.

The transfer of Argentinian midfielder Jose Ernesto Sosa to Bayern Munich is in danger of collapsing after a disagreement over wages.

The 21-year-old, who is currently with Estudiantes de la Plata, is reported to have pulled out of negotiations, unhappy at the wages offered by the German champions.

According to Argentinian daily "Diario Hoy", the player nicknamed 'the little Prince' refused to board his flight for Munich, where he was to be accompanied by two Estadiantes officials for a medical, instead demanding Munich up their offer of a five-year contract worth 3.5 million dollars to 4.5 million dollars.

Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer was immediately informed of Sosa's demands, and angrily rejected them.

Club officials then cancelled the flight, unwilling to send a party out to Munich in case Sosa should flatly refuse to sign.

Rumous are now abound that Valencia could gazump Bayern, offering him a more lucrative deal, while Juventus, Atletico Madrid, PSV Eindhoven and Milan have also been linked with bids to hijack the Bayern deal.

4.5million dollars is too much.

I would prefer to renew with Pizarro, rather then sign Sosa

If he's a player type of Higuain, that did cost Real Madrid 20 million something dollars, than if we get Sosa for 4.5 million and if he's as good as (or nearly as good as) Higuain, that could be called bargain.

Default Bayern poised to confirm Sosa capture

Bayern's first Argentine import Martin Demichelis can look forward to playing alongside a fellow countryman soon, general manager Uli Hoeneß confirmed on Wednesday, as the German champions close in on a deal for midfielder José Ernesto Sosa of Estudiantes de la Plata.

"It's very likely we'll be announcing a done deal in the next few days," Hoeneß declared. Sosa is expected in Munich for a medical within the next 10 days, "and we'll complete the formalities at that point," the Bayern official continued. Sosa would be the club's third new signing for next season alongside Jan Schlaudraff of Alemannia Aachen and Schalke dynamo Hamit Altintop.

Reminiscent of Deisler

Hoeneß has likened the 21-year-old South American's ability to the abundant skill possessed by Sebastian Deisler, and the Bavarians are preparing to offer the Argentine player a long-term contract. "Everything's ready. All that's missing are the medical and my signature," Sosa told Argentine daily El Dia on Wednesday. "I'm delighted we've reached agreement, and I'm looking forward to the new challenge."

"He's an extremely skilful player who operates on the right side," Hoeneß explained, although the player can switch flanks or play in the hole behind the front two if necessary. He has recently lined up alongside former international Juan Sebastian Veron for his home town club Estudiantes, and is reported to have consulted the former Lazio and Chelsea star about the merits of a switch to Europe.

Decisive contribution to title

Sosa, who stands 1.79 metres/5 ft 10 inches and weighs 79 kilograms/174 pounds, has made 105 league appearances for Estudiantes, scoring 11 goals (data from official club homepage). The most important of these came in mid-December when he hit the target in his side's 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors in the Argentine championship decider. On Tuesday, national boss Alfio Basile handed him a call-up to the full Argentina squad.

"Bayern are one of the best in the world, a highly respected club and an outstanding team," Sosa was reported as saying. The newcomer will undoubtedly find a source of help and advice in Demichelis. "We've not spoken to each other yet, but we have a mutual friend, and he'll definitely make sure we get in touch," Micho informed fcayern.de.

Default Bayern Beat Valencia To Argentine Whiz Sosa

Bayern Munich have beaten Valencia in the race for young Argentine midfielder José Ernesto Sosa.

The 21-year-old Estudiantes de La Plata central midfielder has completed a move for Bayern Munich in exchange for 8 million Euros - lower that the 10 million the Argentine club were demanding in January.

A deal was said to have been reached on February 24, but as the details had not yet been confirmed, Valencia made a last-gasp effort to sign him.

However, the completed transfer has now been confirmed - Estudiantes will receive 8 million Euros, and 10% of any future transfer.

Sosa, meanwhile, will earn 4.5 million Euros over the next four years.

The youngster has been at Estudiantes since 2002, with his claim to fame coming when he helped the club to their first title in 23 years last year - scoring the equalizer with a stunning free-kick during the Apertura final playoff game against Boca Juniors.

He has also been a regular with the Argentine under-21 team.

Coached by a certain Diego Simeone, his stocks have risen sky-high, and Bayern rushed to complete the formalities even as big Spanish and Italian clubs prepared for big swoops. He will spend the remainder of the season in Argentina, before moving to Germany in the summer.

Damn.. 8 million for him?? I don't like this at all.
How can Van Bommel cost 7 mill and this kid cost 8 mill.
Plus, how could they risk 8 million in someone like Sosa?
I just hope this money spent for him will be justified by Sosa's play.
