Klinsmann's coaching debut with Bayern
Quote:
Juergen Klinsmann's debut as coach of Bayern Munich is threatening to overwhelm the small city where it will take place.
Sixth-tier SV Lippstadt celebrates its 100th anniversary by playing Bayern on Sunday. The match will be broadcast by two TV stations and extra stands have doubled the stadium capacity to 8,000.
"Basically you can multiply everything involved by 10, including the hours we are all volunteering," SV president Forusan Madjlessi said.
City and club officials have scrambled to meet catering and beer demands, stage a show program, and take advantage of the spotlight by luring sponsors and advertising.
Lippstadt is the hometown of Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who played for SV before going on to become a two-time European player of the year.
Lippstadt is no stranger to top teams but the difference this time can only be Klinsmann, since Bayern stars such as Franck Ribery, Luca Toni and Lukas Podolski have yet to join the team after the European Championship.
Klinsmann will coach for the first time since a 3-1 win over Portugal gave Germany third place at the 2006 World Cup and ended what is often called in the country "the Klinsmann revolution."
Bayern hopes Klinsmann can also help the slumping four-time European champion.
With some unorthodox methods, Klinsmann shook up the whole German football system and instituted attacking football on the national team. The philosophy was to pressure opponents and dictate how the game is played.
With just two weeks of training, and few regulars in the team, that fast demanding style of play is unlikely to be on display Sunday.
"We won't force anyone to go from zero to 200," Klinsmann said. "We will approach the match like a very intensive training session. We want to offer the spectators in the stadium something."

I have some good news, for those who have digital satellite reciever.
The match can be watched on those TV channels, for free: BR Fernsehen and WDR. They're located in the Astra satellite.
I will be watching it, of course, and I'll post my review.

My review:
It was a nice match, the Lippstadt people certainly enjoyed some good football.
There were some very good goals, from distance and such.
Mark van Bommel was our captain today, and when he was subbed off, the armband went to Daniel van Buyten.
Thomas Müller surprised me a lot, scored a hat-trick. Maybe it's too early to say, but I definately liked what I saw from him, and I think he could be a decent no.4 striker.
The Zimbabwe trialist Joseph Ngwenya dissapointed me very much. He was very poor. Deniz Yilmaz in 20 minutes played much better than Ngwenya played for full 90 minutes. To be honest, I'm not sure if Ngwenya, in normal circumstances, would be able to secure a starting spot in the reserves team. He's just not for FC Bayern, I will be very pissed if they offer him a contract with the first team.
Zé Roberto was the Man of the Match today. He was excellent. Run the show.
Toni Kroos had a good day also, aswell as José Ernesto Sosa and Andreas Ottl.
Breno dissapointed me aswell. Our defence was very rarely tested (3 actions I can remember), and Breno shown huge insecurity there. He looked very poor.
Michael Rensing should be more concentrated in following the ball, he gets out of the goal very often and wrongly.
I should mention that Christian Lell hit the bar from centre of the field.

Holy shit. From the center of the field? Can't wait to see the highlights
Interesting what you said on Thomas Müller. I trust your judgment. So maybe with a few more games and friendlies... See what he does. Could earn him a 4th striker position. Who knows.

Müller was hungry for goals, and very concentrated. Very efficient too, didn't waste any chance.
I liked the goal he scored with his head the most.
Here's a video of him, playing with the reserves: YouTube - FCB A-Jugend
The Lippstadt match highlights will come up soon I guess, so you'll see more of him.

Is he related to our legendary goal-scorer?
Saw the clip. Really like his movement, speed and definition.

7-1 in Lippstadt
Bayern mark Klinsmann debut with win
Quote:
Jürgen Klinsmann’s debut as Bayern head coach ended with a comfortable warm-up victory on Sunday afternoon, as the German champions defeated Westphalian sixth division outfit SV Lippstadt 7-1 (4:0) to hand the new boss a successful start two weeks after taking the helm vacated by Ottmar Hitzfeld.
An 8,000 crowd packed into the Am Waldschlösschen stadium saw Thomas Müller (3, 32, 60), Toni Kroos (21), Andreas Ottl (23, 77) and Deniz Yilmaz (79) hit the target for the men from Munich, who were visiting chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s home club to mark the Lippstadt outfit’s centenary year.
Training routines
“In this friendly, we want the players to put into practice the things we’ve started working on in training,“ Klinsmann declared beforehand. His team, minus ten of its Euro 2008 stars and South American pair Martin Demichelis and Lucio, duly heeded the new chief’s words.
Two full weeks’ worth of practice at a high-tempo passing game focused on attack paid off after just three minutes when a smooth interchange left youth talent Müller with the opportunity to open the scoring.
Double whammy from Kroos and Ottl
The skilled and physically superior Bayern side predictably dominated the sixth division outfit for long spells, Zé Roberto seeing his 25-yard free-kick well held by Lippstadt keeper Zapala (9), although the home side finally overcame their awe of their illustrious opponents after quarter of an hour, Thomas Bertels somehow failing to equalise with the empty net begging on 16 minutes.
Bayern resumed lazy command before a double strike from Kroos (21) and Ottl (23) increased the advantage to 3-0. The hard-working Müller then deceived the onrushing Zapala to add another before half-time. “We’re not really fresh, but we’re basically satisfied,” Bayern team manager Christian Nerlinger commented at the interval.
Lell hits bar from 50 yards
The men from Munich eased off a little after the break, although they continued to dominate and the bustling Müller added another with his head on the hour, before Chomse grabbed a consolation for SV Lippstadt with 15 minutes remaining.
That served only to rouse Bayern to a final effort as Ottl (77) and late sub Yilmaz (79) confirmed the Bundesliga side’s clear-cut victory before the end. The most spectacular moment of the game was provided by Christian Lell, who spotted the keeper too far off his line but landed his 67th minute shot on the crossbar from fully 50 yards.
Klinsmann happy
“After two weeks in training, it was interesting to see what we were able to put into practice. We’ve trained very hard, we wanted to see what shape the lads were in, how we played when not in possession, and how the players supported each other,“ Klinsmann commented afterwards, voicing satisfaction with the afternoon: “In this respect, it was basically a great game.“
SV Lippstadt 08 - Bayern Munich 1-7 (H-T: 0-4)
Bayern Munich: Rensing - Lell, Breno, Van Buyten, Zé Roberto (Badstuder 83) - Sosa, Van Bommel (Ekici 83), Ottl, Kroos - Ngwenya, Th. Müller (Yilmaz 70)
