Supercup: Borussia Dortmund 2 - 1 FC Bayern München
According to the reports in the official website of FC Bayern ( here), the Supercup has been reactivated only for this season, as Ligapokal won't be held because of the Euro 2008.
FC Bayern (League champions and Cup winners) will play Borussia Dortmund (Cup finalists) on 23 July 2008, 20.30h, in Dortmund's Signal-Iduna-Park.
But, contrary to those reports, Bundesliga's official website ( here) says that the DFL have not given the greenlight, after discussing the application of Bayern and Dortmund to hold the Supercup.
Let's wait and see what is happening next. I would love to see this match taking place though. It's a classic, FCB v BVB, and I wouldn't mind starting the season with a trophy won already.

No Super Cup between FCB and BVB
The Board of the League Association has intensively dealt with the subject of re-introducing a Super Cup in 2007 within their meeting in Klagenfurt.
A corresponding request of Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München to be allowed to carry through an official DFL Super Cup 2008 on 23rd July 2008 and on their own initiative has been discussed at length. After long consultations the League Board came to the result not to stage an official Super Cup competition at short notice.
With this the committee followed its decision from November 2007, that had contained a one-off break for the League Cup without introducing a new competition. The main argument for the decision was the policy to make qualification criteria transparent to all possible participants before the introduction of a new competition. As planned, the DFL management will submit a presentation regarding the possible introduction of an additional competition from 2009 to the League Board and the DFL Supervisory Board ahead of the first matchday of the upcoming 2008/09 season.

FCB and BVB heads want the match to go ahead, with or without the greenlight of the DFB/DFL.
If DFB/DFL won't change their minds, then the SuperCup will be unofficial, and of course, not counted in the history books.

The match will be definately played, even though there are no info if this is official or not (or to be more precise, whether the trophy is counted or not in the history books).
Match tickets are already on sale/have been sold, and also SAT 1 television has secured the rights to televise the match live.

Good. Should be a good way to start the season.
Both Klinsmann's and Klopp's first 'official' match (can I call this official or..?) as coaches of Bayern and Dortmund, respectively.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

T-Home Supercup
Bayern at full strength for Dortmund clash
Quote:
Three weeks into pre-season and after three friendlies against lower league opposition, the first meaningful examination of Bayern's state of readiness comes on Wednesday evening when the double winners visit Borussia Dortmund to contest the T-Home Supercup. "It's the first real test of our credentials," warned Jürgen Klinsmann ahead of the re-run of last season's DFB German Cup final.
Bayern defeated BVB 2:1 after extra-time at the Berlin Olympic stadium back in April, with the men in yellow and black playing at home this time round. New Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp described the game as "a first proper pulse check" ahead of the new campaign. Kick-off at Signal-Iduna Park is at 8.30 pm.
Müller and Held to present trophy
Thorsten Kinhöfer has been appointed to referee the match, and the clubs have agreed on a maximum of six substitutions each. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the trophy will be decided on penalties. Sigi Held and Gerd Müller, legends at the respective clubs, will present the trophy to the winners.
Klinsmann intends to include all his Euro 2008 stars for the first time. "We'll take the full squad to Dortmund, and then decide locally who comes on and when," the coach told FCB.tv.
Debut for Borowski?
The Dortmund clash could see summer signing Tim Borowski pull on a Bayern shirt in anger for the first time. "It's the first match where we've had everyone available, so we're taking it seriously," announced general manager Uli Hoeneß. Added Klinsmann: "We want to give a very good account of ourselves. We need to know where each individual stands at the moment, which makes it even more exciting."
