Bastian Schweinsteiger has been linked with Manchester United. Apparently he's in Sir Alex's list of possible Cristiano Ronaldo replacements. They are reportedly ready to offer 12 million pounds, which is an insulting offer to be honest.

Man Utd interessiert an Bastian Schweinsteiger - Forum: Gerüchteküche - transfermarkt.de

But, anyway, Rummenigge says he (and Poldi) are going nowhere:

Quote:
Rummenigge: Podolski & Schweinsteiger Going Nowhere

Juventus’ transfer plans have taken yet another battering after Bayern Munich announced that both Lukas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger are off limits…

Juve have already hit a stumbling block in their attempt to sign Xabi Alonso from Liverpool, negotiations having stalled recently while the Spain midfielder has helped his country to the final of EURO 2008.

While the Basque playmaker will almost certainly be on the bench in Vienna, Podolski and Schweinsteiger are sure-fire starters for Germany, who are chasing their fourth European Championship title.

The duo have starred in Austria and Switzerland this month, thus attracting strong interest from a number of clubs across Europe – with Old Lady reported to be their most fervent suitor.

But Bayern spokesman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “There is a lot of talk and people seem to forget they have a contract with us. We certainly have no intention of putting them on the transfer market.”

This announcement comes despite the fact both players endured decidedly indifferent seasons at the Allianz Arena, as they were forced into bit-part roles by newcomers Luca Toni and Franck Ribery.

Schweinsteiger has made no secret of his desire to ply his trade in the Premier League, where Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool are all though to be interested in the 23-year-old.

The midfielder’s recent comments have also interested Chelsea who may need a replacement for Frank Lampard, should he move to Inter Milan as is being widely reported. The Blues will also be able to reunite Schweinsteiger with compatriot Michael Ballack.

But Podolski’s utterances have been more intriguing still, as the Polish-born forward has claimed ex-Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld never gave him the same support that Germany coach Joachim Löw has offered.

He also said, "I may stay with Bayern but the coach has promised to be supportive of whatever decision I make.

"I’ve always wanted to play there (England) and we’ll see if it happens this year."

But Rummenigge questioned the wisdom of much of what the player has recently said.

"I really didn’t understand that comment," added Rummenigge. "If he had said such things when he was at Bayern, then there wouldn’t have been a problem.

"Hitzfeld has nothing to do with it, it is in his own interests to evaluate the form of the players when putting together his team."

Schweinsteiger Admits England Appeal

Bayern Munich and Germany star Bastian Schweinsteiger has indirectly urged Chelsea to step up their interest in him by admitting that he is drawn to the prospect of moving to the English Premier League.

Speaking ahead of the 1-0 loss to Spain in the Euro 2008 final, the 23-year-old Juventus target even went as far as admitting that it has always been his dream to play in England.

Schweinsteiger, who was one of the brightest stars of the European Championships, told The People: “England does have a good appeal,”

“It is now one of the world’s best leagues and I heard all about it from Michael, Jens Lehmann and Thomas Hitzlsperger who have all played there.

“I have always wanted to play in England so we will see if it happens this year.”

Bayern, however, are eager to hold on to their youth team product,, but they are also known to act quickly when they stand to make a good profit. But the lad isn't cheap: the buy-out clause in Schweinsteiger's contract is around 20 million euros.

Frings has invited Poldi to Bremen.

Quote:
The midfielder feels that a move to Werder Bremen might help out the smile back on unsettled Podolski's face.

Frings told Kicker: "Of course we have spoken about that matter, but it is really up to Lukas.

"I am certain that Lukas would return to having fun playing football - just like he does in the national team. This is something that he has lost at Bayern.

"In Bremen he could play at the very highest level and still live without the whole hubbub."

Inter Join Juve In The Race For Schweinsteiger

Inter have joined the race to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich according to Sportmediaset.

The Nerazzurri are keen on adding some strength in midfield and Jose Mourinho has already picked out a number of possible transfer targets including Frank Lampard and Ricardo Quaresma.

The former Chelsea coach would prefer to sign the Porto star but Sportmediaset claims that Inter’s relationship with the Portuguese club is not the best and that Mourinho has identified Bastian Schweinsteiger as an alternative should the move for Quaresma fail.

The German international raised a few eyebrows during Euro 2008 and Inter’s bitter rivals Juventus are believed to have shown an interest in the player and thus an exciting battle for the player could be on the horizon.

The Bianconeri, like Inter, are currently wheeling and dealing for a midfielder and Claudio Ranieri is likely to pull out all the stops in order to land the German star.

Bayern are willing to sell their player now as they would risk losing him on a Bosman ruling next year. Schweinsteiger recently admitted that he would be interested in a move to Serie A but it remains to be seen just where he will end up.

I would sell him to Inter for 15-20 million euros + Pele.

Or, 15-20 million + Suazo. We need a new striker for the bench.

If that's the case...I couldn't really be mad either way. As much as I like Schweini, that seems like a really good deal (As long as Poldi doesn't leave).

I want one of the two staying at Bayern no matter what.

Bayern Reject Inter Schweinsteiger Approach

Quote:
According to the Gazztta dello Sport, Bayern Munich have rejected an approach from Inter Milan for midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Nerazzurri are well known to be in the market for a top class midfielder, but so far their attempts to close deals for Frank Lampard, Riccardo Quaresma, as well as Amantino Mancini have not succeeded.

It was reported last week that Inter had entered the race to sign Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has already attracted the interest of Juventus, Milan and Chelsea, among others.

The 23-year-old had a poor club season for Bayern, however he was very impressive in Germany’s run to the final of Euro 2008, scoring in both the quarter final and semi final wins over Portugal and Turkey respectively.

The Gazzetta claims that Inter director Marco Branca flew to Munich on Wednesday evening to make an approach to Bayern about the midfielder, only to be told that the Bavarians have no intention of selling their young jewel.

Schweinsteiger, who has already won 56 caps for Germany, grew up in the Bayern youth team, making his senior debut back in 2002 at the age of just 18.
