As for Xabi Alonso, I'd take him.

He has bags of creativity, something we've missed since Ballack fucked off to Chelsea. He doesn't cover a huge area of the pitch, true, he doesn't do much running, also true, but he can orchestrate, that's what really matters though isn't it?

His passing is superb and he takes free-kicks very well too.

We just need to get the right player to partner him and I think Xabi would do great. Ze Roberto-Xabi would be too offensive, van Bommel-Xabi wouldn't work as neither run around enough.

If we sign a Flamini/Gattuso type of player, to partner Xabi, we'd have our midfield problems solved.

He has a great shot aswell. How much he is involved offensive depends on who he plays along with in the centre. His weakness is tackles and pace.

His price tag is £16M but Liverpool could be willing to sell him for £12M if he wants to leave.

Toni: Barzagli Welcome At Bayern

Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has sent out an invitation for Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli to join him Germany — while he is still there, that is.

Toni has cemented himself among the most deadly strikers in the world since moving to Munich last summer, finishing the season with an incredible 39 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

The 31-year-old, who will represent Italy at EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland next month, has not been shy in attempting to lure his fellow Azzurri to the Allianz Arena.

The former Fiorentina hitman was quite vocal about his desire to see AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso – who was strongly linked with a move away from San Siro – lining up for Die Roten next term.

With that possibility scuppered, Toni is now keen to coax former club-mate Barzagli into a Bavarian move, amid rumours the 27-year-old is on the verge of following the striker's footsteps from the Rosanero to the Viola.

"I will stay here next season too," he said. "I told the board that I would like to have an Italian team-mate and they tried with Gennaro Gattuso. It's a pity he didn't come, but now Andrea Barzagli is very welcome."

While Toni has committed his immediate future to Bayern, he revealed he would return to Serie A within the next few years in search of a league landmark.

He said: "Sooner or later I will come back to Italy because I want to try and reach 100 goals in Serie A."

Israeli Linked With Bayern
Bayern Munich are being linked with a surprise move for Israeli striker Maor Buzaglo.

20 year old striker is reportedly on Bayern’s wanted list as they look to bring in a few new recruits ahead of new season.

The Bavarians are currently on tour in the Far East, but moves are underway to sign new players for the defence of their Bundesliga crown and an assault on the Champions League.

New Bayern trainer Jürgen Klinsmann is to meet the player's advisor in California in the coming days according to reports in Bild.

Buzaglo is currently contracted to Maccabi Haifa and is viewed as one of the biggest talents in Israeli football. He has recently been sent out on loan to Bnei Sakhnin in order to gain more experience.

He has had previous spells in Europe playing at youth level for both Juventus and Lyon, and has already been capped twice by his country.
